Rozanne Pilbeam
Registrace 21. 09. 2014
My name is Rozanne Pilbeam. I’m a serial nomad who’s climbed to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, walked the length of the United States, Spain, and New Zealand, paddled four hundred and fifty miles in the world’s longest annual kayak race in the Yukon, Canada, and driven a rickshaw 1,300 miles across India from Chennai to Mumbai. These videos chronicle my adventures.
My return to the Southern Terminus of the PCT
After driving a group of hikers down to Campo to begin the Pacific Crest Trail, I take a walk down memory lane along the first few miles of my journey six years ago.

Omg 😂
Think kayaks would not be my choice of hulls. Current Designs would.
Great feat congratulations 🎉👏🎉👏🎉
Try using a hull with one or no foot supports it's horrible.
You need torso rotation and better strokes for turning and steering. Less arm movement.
The boat and rudder were?
Always practice in a rudder boat or keel boat without 5hem in case either fail. It does take a lot more effort if you rudder is broken especially in windy or rough water.
Can you list your gear and food for the trip?
Hey Connie, you can find it here on my blog: serialnomad.com/hiking-blogs/yrq-2016/ Have a great race!
This is a battle between a massive ego wanting to boast of completing the T.A. and telling your pals, and of avoiding the road walks, and enjoying yourself in less-visited tracks by being more selective.
Haha! Yes, very true!
Know your backcountry before you hike, bearspray and horn is a must no matter where you are.
Your video was the first I had seen of a hiker finishing a thru hike. When you saw the monument and the emotions you showed, it inspired me to chase that feeling. I completed my thru hike of the PCT in 2020 and this video was the catalyst. Thank you.
Aww thanks Larry. That’s so awesome to hear! I’m glad you got to experience the magic of the PCT and I hope your arrival at the terminus felt somewhat the same. Happy hiking!
Cal taxpayers get to pick up the tab for firing up the helicopter
🤣
You are in a wonderful Kauri forest of amazing trees. However the TA trust doesn't have the money for trail construction or maintenance, so kiwis just deal with it. Vast difference between the TA and the PCT.
Put the phone up and walk stupid
Why you don't hike alone
Good try,,, Only Men can be men.
Waiting for the large cat
Should have a compass 🧭 problem solved
What's the biggest danger to watch out for on the fraser
Good job! Nice paddle trip!
Run
Cougars can be hard to scare off at times due to their curious nature..glad it worked out! one thing, when the rescue came; since you had no way to electronically notify them, to wave them off, put one arm up at a diagnol and the other arm facing the ground at a diagnol..if you do need help put both arms up in a v shape..you Can check online to see a better illustration of what I'm talking about; but good for all hikers to know those signals in cases such as these etc:) happy hiking!
Bear Spray should be a absolute part of every hiker, biker and trail runner's daily carry while off pavement. Noise makers don't bother big cats or bears when in "Predatory" state.
Nice video. Are you still making hiking videos? Subscribed to your channel.✌️
congrats. i raced it in 2001. want to come back.
Norm M Thanks Norm, I miss that river too!
The race is with no one but Self...Congrats...
ugsisr Thank you! ❤️
Could edging the kayak help counter this malfunction?
The PCT will always be a part of you, reminisce in the joy!
ChuckGC59 You’re damn right!! Thanks Chuck!
Thanks for sharing such a profoundly personal moment, it's very moving...congratulations on such a wonderful achievement!
The smile says it all
Thank you for sharing your experience. Females, please don't go out in the wilderness alone and always bring a firearm and a serious knife strapped on you. It could have been more terrifying if it was an aggressive 10 foot tall Bigfoot!
Traveled by canoe with group not racing, 9 days. You did awesome.
Good work! Tough going with equipment failure. It is a awesome experience to even try it, but to finish is the greatest feeling..
You are so right. The trail is new and not yet complete. Walking alongside cars sucks
I wish somebody would find a way to make her pay for that helicopter's time and trouble. Her shrill and nasal voice should have driven a bull moose away, not to mention a cat.
you pay for SAR when you get a Spot or Garmin. I'm glad I don't run in women like you when I hike. Judgmental and catty. Aren't you too old for that catty crap.
LoL I always wonder what kind of person would say something this rediculous and what they look like.. well it makes sense, so thanks for that.
Wonderful editing, Rozanne. New Zealand is so beautiful and I always love your expressive face!
This is so touching and real. I may have gotten a moist eye myself at such an amazing moment. Congratulations!!! (Even though some time has passed since this was filmed. The accomplishment is no less all these months later.) Thank you for sharing with us.
You’re amazing, well done. I watched a few of you posts now and …well… got to admire your tenacity :) it certainly was a mixed bag of adventure, eh? I think I’ll just walk Southland next year. Ta for posting
I've read somewhere that they are finally thinking about creating a pedestrian crossing area on that bridge. I don't know how though...it looks awfully narrow!
Eeeek! Cute, but EEEEEK if mummy is around
I felt like I was watching a NatGeo episode with your narration. lol ;)
Thanks for sharing your experience - love to see a beautiful part of the world through your eyes!
How often do you recommend taking zero days? I know its a delicate balance between resting and making sure you make good time along the trail.
This is hilarious... Great share! And that scream... if you dont have a trailname already, I suggest Ladybump... czcams.com/video/Rkrdmf7GzKg/video.html
Awesome! Well Done!
Awesome push through - you're doing great!!!
oh my god 😲😲😲😰😰😰😖😖😵..
