Hope we can bring this magic to LATAM someday!
Pretty epic stuff. Must have been hell to fight for real
"they're right up against the fence over here." That's me! Middle of the screen, gold knotwork, blackened roman helm, spearing people to the left of the screen (@1:26) Thanks, as always, for filming these videos every year!
What miss war?
After 30 yrs ,parent and life BS I getting back, gonna rattle some youngsters rivets. Fitting, refit and building armor . The one thing I see is a lot of black finished armor. I'll say it's hot enough doing this than to try to hotter than need be .
these people are really going all out to bust each other up!
The wind was picked up by the cc as [music] and [applause] lol. Great video though, thanks for posting!
Huzzah!!!
Master Cerian's elevation here is mainly because of his maintenance of a truly massive CZcams channel, found here: www.youtube.com/@CeriansKeep Check him out. :)
Huzzah!!!!
Congrats, Canton of Wood's End!!
Promo*SM 🤪
i hope they will fight with steel unshaped weapon, but it's pussy fight
How could I participate in these fights?
About where are you from? I can point you to your kingdom and their chatelaine (welcome wagon/newcomer officer) can get you set up with your local group. If you don't want to answer, the group lookup tool is here: sca.org/kingdom_lookup.html Once you've found your local group, go to fighter practice (almost every group will have one weekly) and start learning. :)
Watching you in this stupid video with the color of your skin definitely proves your definitely not part of a Superior race. Robert E Lee was one of the best generals this country ever produced out of West Point
Lol if he was so good then why did he lose the war?
This looks like a blast
I wonder Were wars like this? 😂
Not really, mainly because we don't have real morale problems. If your friends are actually getting speared and hacked around you, you're much more likely to panic and run. That almost never happens in the SCA context because everyone knows they're not actually going to die.
Bridge Battles was and still are important battles the and into modern war.Bridges are a choke point for armies. Read some history on it . The last battle in movie Brave Heart really took place at a narrow stone bridge with half of England's army on the other side. The Scots slaughtered them ,any English trying to wade /swim was drowned. Reinforcements was slaughtered trying to cross the narrow bridge.Narrow areas are easy to defend even dead and wounded become a protective barricade. On a bridge many would be tossed over the side to let more be killed. There was little chance to flee as others behind would push front soldiers (often they was the poorest /worst equipped to see what the enemy would do) forward .Regular men of the line even if the wanted to flee was watched over by Sargent's and each other to keep good order. Even after a army was routed those how lived /fled had better had a good explanation why they wasn't dead . Often command leaders would react with executing say every 5th man a traitor s death , something horrible like crucifixion. You would only hope to live or wounded badly a friend would put you out of your misery before the dogs pull out and eat your intestines before you die. I'll stop with saying it was like butchers from hell worked on many hundreds leaving them to die horribly until the camp thieves finished you off.
Bro yall are rude to my family but yall do u cuz i cant stop yall
Just curious, why did you spend so much time focused on the fights on the fringes?
The flanks are where the battle is won and lost. The center rarely breaks first.
There I am, walking backwards, right to left, in the green barrel helm, from 5:06 - 5:12. I don't quite remember that exact moment, though I do remember several others in these battles.
I spy with my little eye...In at least four separate moment, Sir Ix in his leopard skin pyjamas and stolen Spanish morion.
While the confederacy had some bad aspects, I’ve never understood it being bad because of “treason”, I mean the classic union flag is also a representation of treason against the monarch
George Washington put down the Whiskey Rebellion. He would have told you (and did to several people) that treason against a monarch is different than rebellion against a republic, because in the latter you had a voice and your option is the vote.
I have been to Renaissance fairs but never seen anything like this. I never knew there was such a battle! Cool!!
Good discussion and the right outcome. Guy in red has honor!
tbh this awesome buy I'd stick to my 140 vs 140 imfc world championship battles
HHHHHUUUUUZZZZAH
Huzzah
Love it very cool
This looks incredible but I have had WAY too many concussions to give this a try.
I loved the bait and switch! Fantastic
If u run circles around d guy, he wont b able to keep up & maintain his defensive position
Oh yes, I'm sure Duke Ullr wasn't doing that because he just didn't think of it. Or maybe it's because he read the rules regarding engaging legged opponents. :P
this looks fun
Do helmet strikes count?
Very much so. SCA rules are not the ones you find in most LARPs.
@@GamingPaladin shame. I'm not a larper, I'm an HMB fighter and an experiment where helmet strikes would be allowed yet would not score (much like they do with plate armor in 15th sentury reenactment) interested me for a long time. Not this time i guess. Interesting tactic tho. Personally i would prefer to stay on my feet so i could call, deflect and than rush into clinch but it's a risky one
Running in on a polearm doesn't work particularly well when thrusting isn't banned, and it isn't in the SCA rules. Not saying it can't be done, but the stop thrust is liable to get you, something I understand isn't allowed in HMB. Also, we're not shot counting. A good blow as judged by the person struck ends the fight, or disables the limb in the case of a blow to the extremities. That's why he went to his knees; it wasn't something he did for tactical reasons, but because he was struck in the leg.
@@RenegadePaladin thrusting is not allowed in competition. It's not like HMB fighters are never interested and can't be talked into having a sparring session with any rules you offer. At the same time your way of LARPing is very interesting. All larps I've been either provide each character with certain amount of hitpoints or create time and place that would make weapons rare, making any weapon wound lethal so that brawling is more common and less blamed behaviour. So, I'm very curious, how are games with respected hit played. Is it common in your part of the world? How often, if ever, argument emerge? How do you settle them?
It gets really obvious really fast if a fighter is ignoring blows. The marshals will eventually pull you out, and if it becomes a pattern your authorization to fight will be revoked. Before that ever happens, though, you will find yourself incredibly unpopular and unwelcome. There isn't money on the line, so cheating is rare and easily caught.
Subscribed! Just got into the SCA, and these are great to watch. I'm going to The War of the Phoenix this week. First melee, here I come!
Have fun! :)
what a massive chaos...sweet :D
It only looks chaotic from the outside. There is a plan... most of the time. ;)
I never did make it to pensic when i was an active member. Man that would have been a blast!!. The biggest battle i was ever in was 147 vs 146. So much fun. I miss it.
Excellent. Thanks for posting....
It is odd watching this now - so fewer fighters that it used to be. I would say double that number at times a few years ago.
Can go back and check. I have Pennsics up on my channel going back to 38.
I hate you
Sherman approves.
7:12 its us, the SCA China, the branch called army of the west expedition.
Thus always to traitors
The Stars and Bars and Stained Banners are Confederate flags and I could care less about the burning. However, the Southern Cross in and of itself is not Confederate. The Confederates even denied that cross to represent their "separate nation."
rebel rag lol that's all it is stop defending slavery and acting like ur not spreading hate because that's all the rag stands for
ogic
I did see myself literally just before you spoke about it lol
Thanks for posting, was interesting to hear the discussion on the radio asking if siege engines could be resurrected. Was still fun running over and taking them out, and was surprised to see them firing again later.
We were surprised too, but at least it came up in the first run.
Since we were on offense, we could resurrect as any other person on offense could. Thanks for posting this so I could get the timing of when each battery took out their target 🙂
@@joshuaberry4128 I'm no expert, but the Signal Corps seemed to think that historically engines haven't been subject to resurrection. I know no more on the subject than what they said when the call was asked for and made.
Haha! There were 3 likes, I liked, and now there are 5.
