Do you think your left foot puts in more creases than your right?
I did notice that. One of mine folds up instead of down but I was able to train it to fold down like the other boot. Hope you know what I mean. But you’re talking about “loose grain”. I think it happens when too layer isn’t completely attached to bottom layer. Not sure. Sometimes you can tell right away if it will crease poorly . I was careful my 2 pairs wouldn’t have that issue.

Collapsing? I know exactly what you mean. It didn’t happen to both of my pair of IR but I’ve seen lots of pics on leather boots especially IR and I noticed that RW uses leather sections from different parts of the cow hide. Certain parts of the hide are stiffer and other parts are more pliable. I’ve noticed many IR with only one collapsed vamp also. So the leather used on the vamp is more pliable than the other part of the boot. They usually use a much thinner leather for the tongue also.
