I'm always amazed of how Glen Phillips can sing Walk on the Ocean on different guitars, when I saw live versions of these songs, he would play mandolin, and in this live show, he plays bass, but years later, he switches to an acoustic guitar, I remember seeing the band a couple of years ago, they were playing near Luray. And I got to meet Glen and the band and I took a picture with him!.

Yeah, these are always fun too watch. I had a feeling it would be a little more like heavy metal blues, like I had always done for decades. Before finally doing more of a deep dive into the blues tone and style like the greats: John Lee Hooker, lightning Hopkins, Muddy Waters, up through the three kings, and then SRV! During the pandemic when I had more time I taught myself how to set up a couple of my Strat-style guitars for real old school blues, and mostly Texas blues. High action with heavier strings, the opposite of what I’ve been doing since the 80s, ha ha. it’s been fun. So I got one pedalboard for my blues, but still have my board for my metal! 😝🤘🏻🇺🇸🎸

You don’t need to turn down the tone knob on the middle pick up to get that Jimmy or SRV kind of wah effect using the switch selector. And an old-school regular Fender type trem will not go widely out of tune if used properly. You wouldn’t want to do dive bombs. Although, there are ways to set it up so that everything slides smoothly. It can be used quite a bit, melodically, and for effect, while staying in tune-like Jeff Beck or SRV. Used more like a Bigsby, like what they were intended.

This song is a statement to my marriage and how its been for more than 2 decades. You just live through life. Nothing is ever smooth. Somethings always wrong.
