Looks great Jordan, the only thing I would say is the laminate on your track needs to be beveled to the height of the track. That’s a catching point if you slide timber that’s slightly bowed. Nice job 👌🏻🇦🇺
Is it possible to do this with a hand router, or you really need the stability of a router table?
great video
I don’t think this is the way to do it. You did not apply the upper coat. There are two different coatings done with two different products.
Do you have plans for sale?
I am looking at trying out the Stealth Stop system too. How close to the thickness of the 1/2 inch MDF is the track? Did you find not having a piece of laminate under the track to be an issue or did you prefer having the track recessed a bit instead of flush?
How long of a working time does the Rubio have once the 2 parts are combined?
4 hours I believe 👍
@@EverydayBuilds Thanks! I will be using Rubio for the first time this week.
I don't see why you are getting so much hate. I do believe festool is overcharging for their system design but i also can see that they are slightly more convenient than anyone else which is why if i sanded for a living or sanded regularly i would definitely invest in it even if it's a bit of a robbery.
Absolutely 👍
I understand. Festool is good for all CZcamsrs.
Thank you..
You’re welcome!
Thank you Mr Jordan
You’re welcome!
I want to treat. White oak cabinets but dont want the raw colour of the eood to change! Which product will be best to use?
Rubio Pure or Osmo Clear 👍
I've been a builder all my life but over 50 homes and learned all the trades, l laugh at these people making vedios, like this guy
Typical boomer mentality. Thanks for contributing nothing. Move along now 👍
@@EverydayBuilds LoL,, typical millennium just can never get enough attention and can't handle rejection. l usually don't comment but your know it all attitude was too much.
Yeah sooooo easy!!!!…..all I need to do is build myself a fully decked out work shop…… soooo simple
Yep! Simple as that, lol
Nice build I feel like that reciprocal was pretty high
Thank you! I wanted the outlet just above the tv mount. 👍
@@EverydayBuilds ohh that makes sense
@@EverydayBuilds I’m in the AV industry I know some homeowners put TVs above fireplaces all the time but sometimes the tv is up higher than anticipated and then call back to bring the TV lower.
The maintenance oil only comes in 3 options. White, black, or pure. How do you know which one to get?
The way I see it, you pick the maintenance oil that matches the base tone of your finish. If your finish has more of an amber tone, go with the pure maintenance oil. If the finish has a lighter white tone, go with the white maintenance oil. And if the finish is dark/black, go with the black. 👍
I agree with you on the drum sander. I've used mine four times and had the same issues and frustrations you mentioned. I want to sell mine too. What did you sell yours for (ballpark)? #totaltegrettool
I think I got around $1500 for it.
I have that claw horse and I only ides it once! Total waste
I loved your floating shelf but the finish you chose seemed a lack luster. Hope you liked it. I appreciated all the info in this short video. Tks
This definitely wasn’t my favorite color for walnut. I much prefer Rubio pure.
Wow!! U amke it look so easy
Why thank you 🙏
is there a finish....the best part...lol

You're a ninja, amazing job! #goals
Thank you 🙏 🥷
You said the ratio of 1:2 vs 1:3 doesn't matter. Sorry, but that is incorrect. The ratio hugely affects curing time.
It is 1:3 and you are correct
I don't see the point in using both.
Yeah, just paste wax would suffice 👌
😮
Young man. You know , what you are doing. Lovely equiipment in your workplace. Big envy. .
Thank you 🙏
Love the concept and design. I plan to try this out on a small shelf for my son's room to keep his Xbox. If it works, I will build 4 large ones for my fireplace built-ins.
Good luck with your build! 🤙
I am little confused. Where did you put the filters on the front or on the back of the fan?
Back, so it pulls the air through the filters
Nice video! Thank you! Quick question, can you save the mixture? If I mix too much is it okay to put a lid on it and save it for the next project??
Once you mix it, it has to be used within 4 hours. Thats why sometimes it isn’t always best to mix it with the accelerator.
@@EverydayBuildsthanks! Good to know!
As a Nationally certified technician qualified to install fireplaces. you should be letting your viewers know that most fireplace manufactures require the fireplace to be installed by a certified technician or it will void the listing and warranty on the fireplace. your insurance company will also most likely drop your insurance policy for not fallowing manufacture requirements. informing the listener that the should be checking with there local codes. not all states allow you to install a vent free fireplace. putting gas line compression fittings buried in a wall without a access panel is also usually not to code. consumer be ware. The fireplace needs to be installed by a qualified technician.
These types of products are a weak version of the old solution to bond with wood cells for a more natural looking limited protective finish. The old solution is two part epoxy thinned with acetone. The protection increases with the thickness of resin in acetone solution.
Nicely done. You could have a better result, aesthetically and functionally, though by feathering the edges with a damp sponge.
That’s a great tip. That definitely would have helped. Thank you!
Jordan, what specific fasteners did you use into the studs?
amzn.to/44sBAF3
You mentioned using a motion sensor to automagically turn on your lighting and air cleaner. Can you share a link or other info so I find a motion sensor switch for my shop? THANKS
This is the one I used amzn.to/3QsFvMq
Great video, super helpful. Thank you! What speed setting did you use for the random orbital sander? I need to get one - but want to make sure it has a speed setting that is low enough. Thanks for your attention here.
I run mine on the lowest speed setting 👍
@@EverydayBuildsThanks!
Am I the only one cringing at about 3:45 with the hand positions and the leaning over the blade like that? A feather board and using the gripper would perhaps have been a safer example to others less experienced than you.
I understand your concern. But to my defense, this is a pretty safe cut. It's a rabbet, so the blade never exits the piece of wood. As long as the material stays over the blade, the blade will never be exposed, making this an extremely safe cut.
Hi, is it possible for me to make the marble decoration according to the measurements and in the end put the fire plus device, knowing that my chimney is ready made of cement?
🤷🏻♂️
It was easier than you thought because that IS NOT a fireplace.
It’s a place and it makes fire 🤷🏻♂️
I like this video, I also build floating shelves but my method is very elementary. I like this joint and it seems pretty easy to do. Can you show a short video on how to miter both ends of the shelf? I also subscribed to your channel. Thank you! Mike
Thank you! If I make a shelf that is mitered on both ends, I will be sure to show you.
Beautiful
Thank you!
Duud thank you for sharing this with us!!!
You’re welcome!
Great build but you left the part out that all us woodworkers want to see the finish. Hopefully on your next build
Check this video out for that 👇 czcams.com/video/ToFwny7tDBY/video.htmlsi=SCKbEMpEG7cTVdAN
I love the way that you included normal Office filing cabinets into your workbenches, great idea. I wouldn't have thought of that, I would have just used some 'old' second hand kitchen cabinet bases. Your idea is much better. Nice mitre station.
Thank you! Filing cabinets for the win 🙌
Great video. Friendly tip. Never put pipe dope on the female side of a fitting. As you tighten it, it could restrict the gas flow.
Thank you for the advice! I will make sure not to do that next time 🤙
They built all the homes in my neighborhood with regular painted drywall around all the fireplace (in 2002). I'll replace with the type of cement board in your video.
This was very helpful, thank you!
You’re welcome! 😁
Rubio is grossly over priced. I’ve found 3 other finishing products just as good for 30-50% less. Shop around before pushing overpriced stuff.
What else do you recommend?
Could you please enlighten us with these 3 other products. Thank you.
Everything about your presentation was truly professional!
Thank you 😊
I like watching your videos and getting the great build tips. You do fantastic work..If I was making these videos (which I'm not) I'd conciser adding in a safety disclaimer and recommend using some type of push blocks..Pushing that face over the router, your fingers are really close to that bit. Someone with little experience using a router table might not be so mindful of the dangers. If that piece of wood grabs or jumps, serious injury is very possible. I didn't read through all the 350 comments to see if already addressed, but hopefully this will help someone. Again, great videos and I get a lot out of them.
You are 100% correct, I should have absolutely been using push blocks. And you are not the first to point that out. Thank you for taking the time to make sure everyone is being safe 🙏
