Interesting video. A seemingly short, clear cut tutorial on political theory which turns into communist propaganda on par with a Monty Python sketch. Not what I expected, but sure, why not?

I'm the new, naive person you mentioned in the video. I identified as a Democratic Socialist before I watched it. I was just kind of using the term without really knowing what it means though, and I never really believed that socialism could be achieved through voting and legislation. I think change is possible through voting and legislation (maybe that's the naive optimist in me), I just know any of the reform through legislation cannot uproot capitalism, and an uproot is what we need. And like you said, everyone else in office will disagree with it so daydreaming of this method of change is unrealistic, I think. But I'm thinking people should try anyways? I don't know. This all just makes me feel so hopeless, like I don't think there will be a revolution in my lifetime. So what can I even do to make a difference? It's exhausting and draining to think about, but it's comforting that there is a large group of like minded radicals.

I think the hardest parts of understanding the old texts that Marx, Engels, and Lenin wrote is there is a language barrier. It’s english but the vernacular and the older style of speech is different.

It's deep shit. Mont Pelin society, the Chicago school, Friedman advocating the benign role the monopolies which form if safeguards aren't put in to the model. The dismantling of the embedded liberalism of the Breton Woods policies which formed the post war consensus. The state and the corporate monopolies are actually quite hand in glove, as the State gives the markets the policies which give the elites their benefits and incentives towards favourable trade tariffs and international fiscal policy.

I’m always in agreement with these vids still they dismiss reformists ideas as being nonsense. Usually tends to advocate more revolutionary approach for socialism while not addressing the failures of previous revolutionary actions.
