We are focused on Fishing the Mid-Atlantic waters, but have plenty of trips around the world where we travel and bring content to you all. We primarily fish out of Ocean City, MD and in the Chesapeake Bay. We Primarily focus on Fishing coastal waters and enjoying the natural life in the outdoors. Florida Keys Reef Fishing and Deep Drop! (Catch N' Cook)
What's up y'all! We are back with another week of some awesome fishing! This time we have traveled with the Hatuna Matata all the way from Maryland to the Florida Keys. This is now Day 3 in the Florida keys and we have just gotten back from day 1in the Bahamas. It has been an absolutely amazing experience and can't wait to have you guys check in!
We start off with some simple reef fishing and wreck fishing to target mutton snapper, grouper, and other reef species. In doing so we got absolutely slammed by trigger fish and couldn't get our baits to the bottom.
We later transitioned into deep dropping the Islamorada humps and it was some slower fishing but we did land a few fish!
We then get back filet some fish and head up to the kitchen to make an amazing parmesan pesto covered trigger fish! Come along and check it out!

I’ve considered trailering down and doing the same type of trip in my boat but the fuel bill scares me. I’ve been as far as NC Oregon Inlet (6hrs from Annapolis). Those Bahama waters look beautiful, nice catch!
@@spinfish1434 boat fuel bill wasn’t bad at all depending on your gas mileage but the fuel bill for trailer was about 800 down and 500 back depending on traffic. Hit a lot of traffic in Richmond and Miami area which drove the gas bill up on the way down but way back was smooth sailing!

Im not from your neck of the woods, im WAY far south of y'all so im gonna ask a few questions. Are these fresh water blue cats? Is the water fresh,salt,or brackish? There are ocean catfish that i have caught many times but im assuming these aren't those same cats? How are these catfish you are after invasive?? Where did they come from? From one fisherman to another i thank you for the info in advance.
Yeah for sure! Thanks for reaching out! These are your typical fresh water blue cats that are native to Mississippi, Missouri, and Ohio. This water is going to be more brackish but the bluecats have developed a higher tolerance to salinity allowing them to over populate in the Chesapeake Bay more so than what was originally believed. These aren't going to be your ocean catfish, I believe those are hardhead catfish. These catfish are invasive more so to the fact that they don't belong in our bay they're in the freshwater rivers. It really wouldn't be a big deal outside of the fact that they are destroying our blue crab population. I am a commercial blue crabber and have had a heck of a time getting bushels due to lack of population. When cut open the belly of a blue cat (since they're bottom feeders) it is all baby crabs and blue crabs, females, and soft shells. I believe I answered everything to the best of my knowledge. Blues are fantastic eaters, they will absolutely smash a rod in the holder, and they can reach 100 pounds plus.
They are for sure! This was a small one and a quick day. They're a fun fight! only issue for us is they're really hurting our crab population.
You should go eat some Chinese. There are a billion of em. They won't miss one or two. Seriously though blue cats in alabama get huge. Near dams as big as 500-700 pounds. Can easy swallow a child whole.
Are you a biologist ? How do you know the blue cats are destroying everything, because somebody said so ! just stop and think back when they said this about the snakehead and now look ! Do you guys ever sell your carch? Just thinking that the Tuna could have been worth a good bit.
Just curious, how much does the fuel cost to reach your fishing destination and back.
Cost about 500-600 dollars for my boat give or take! We also can sell tuna but I’m not familiar with selling big eye but definitely blue fin! Fat content is so much better in blue fins!
@@hatunamatataoutdoors I've been told that they have a bluefin derby or contest in or near New Bern NC, pamlico county every year. Or perhaps it's just for the fishing season I'm not sure. But you guy's should check into it. The people in the area say it's a sight to behold when they bring in their fish to scale. It's BIG Money
