Plant-Based Prepper
United States
Registrace 4. 12. 2013
I've been Plant-Based since 2010 and this is my Journey to become more Self Sufficient and Live Off the Grid someday Happy and Healthy! Statistically, preventable diseases are the #1 cause of death, followed by accidents, and then human threats so it started making more sense to make some lifestyle changes first. If we eat mostly plant based and go back to living off the land, it will drastically reduce the suffering we cause to ourselves, the animals and the planet by reducing our footprint so lets start there before we worry about everyone and everything else. I see the need to give more power back to the people to become self sufficient instead of giving them more convenience. I just hope my videos will inspire others to become healthier and more self sufficient as I do the same.

Squirrels Digging Under Chicken Coop
This is my case for putting hardware cloth down on the inside of my coop!
It keeps the squirrels, gophers, snakes, and rats out but it's a constant battle still!
We are having to fill in all of these trenches daily and it looks like they are trying to collapse my chicken coop!
Sitting here watching this happen while at work and can do nothing about it....yet!

I changed the oil pan gasket, oil pressure sensor (Motocraft), and added Motocraft 5/20 oil and a Motocraft filter. Then it took me about 30 minutes of driving before the Oil Pressure Light and Gauge finally stopped dropping and beeping at me. The solution was to replace the Oil Pressure Sensor and allow the Computer to Relearn the Idle. When the idle dropped below 500 ish, it set off the Low O...

I just changed the Oil Pan Gasket and Oil Pressure Sensor hoping it would solve this problem. At idle, Oil Pressure drops to zero and Oil light flashes and sometimes, engine shuts off. I know it has Oil now, I know there are no leaks, and I know it's not the Oil Pressure sensor. At this point, I'm worried it might be the Oil pump so I can't drive it. Maybe it's another sensor? Let me know what ...

Our Little Farmstand Build
zhlédnutí 451Před rokem
I built this Farmstand last year to sell eggs and extra produce from our Garden and it has grown since then. We now sell seedlings, flowers, vegetables, fruit and homemade recipes. The neighborhood loves it and is very appreciative. It's helping us pay for chicken feed and garden fertilizers, meet our neighbors who garden, share ideas and help them become more self sufficient too. It's a win win.

What pump do you recommend?
Thanks for the info. My hand pump started to fail, so I'm glad to find you. I put my tank in the back of my trailer, so I set it in a plastic tub so if there is any spill, it's will be continued. So I put a 90° fitting so the hose runs parallel to the side of the tank to protect the shut offs and the hose. Thank you again
Squirrels can jump up to 10 feet. I had this problem with my bird feeders. You might try electrifying chicken wire. Seems the problem is they're not on the wire long enough to get hit with the pulse. Just spit balling here. Fortunately my resolution was pvc. They couldn't climb and I moved the feeder further away from a tree. Kind of hard to do with a garden 😕
Will you please share the plans for you cart?
All I did was go off the picture. Although, I was thinking about making plans now that I know how to make it.
Are soy curls tastier than TVP?
Excellent video; I love your pantry. I know this is the obvious place to keep the freezer, but if you can find another room for it, this will help you to keep the room itself cooler, since fridge and freezes chicken out a crazy amount of heat. Saying that, we do keep our chest freezer in the pantry/gym, though living in UK makes the freezer a free heater most of the year.
Are those the stock bumpstops on the front? Those seem really long for the spring in there. I have similar ones on my 2000 tracker, but i had a 2” spacer lift on there when I bought it, so I thought they were part of the kit.

Can you post what air valve to get that will work? Thanks
I picked up one of these caddies for my dad for fathers day. I had/have some serious reservations about the quality of the hose and nozzle. I'm off to Amazon to order some parts....Pop's fuel caddy is about to get some upgrades. I appreciate the upload and the parts list!
Great!! Let me know how it goes!
Do you still recommend the Flo n go with all the upgrades needed?
Yes, only with the upgrades. The tank itself is good but can get frustrating without the upgrades.
hello, did you solve the problem?
Kane'ohe is the best. Grew up around there didn't know you could camp there like that. Gotta head back to camp in the windward rain and reconnect.
My Duramax Gas Caddy 14 gal does not have that type of cap, what would you suggest ?
Really? Did they change it or are you in a different Country? I would drill a hole the size of the Shrader Valve just to screw it in or you can order the original cap here but it's expensive. amzn.to/4faltRB
@@plantbasedprepper Yes it is expensive to order and I’m in USA ordered the caddy through Amazon and it’s pictured with that cap but nope my caps bare. Thanks so much for responding. I got the valve now to drill the hole
Or, here me out…you could buy the upgraded version with better wheels and a 12v pump….
You have a point! By the time I did all of the upgrades, I put at least an extra $100 into it....
you just killed a big patch of grass where you filled up. LOL
Yeah but I don't care because my grass has been a nightmare. It's now covered in clover and weeds. That spot is already grown in.
I just did the hacks on mine, my new hose is such good quality it's like a gas station hose althought that adds a lot of weight to it. I also got a swivel for the tank connection end (3/4" female water hose connection to 3/4" female pipe threads) to help even more on the twisting of the hose. I don't see a difference in the threads except "water hose connection threads" has a washer in it. I hooked it up and no more leaks (for now anyway). My concern is the original valve coming out of the caddy. How would you replace or find one of those if it starts leaking? It must have a nut inside the tank that holds/seals it in. I'm afraid that one is going to start leaking then i'm screwed........there's no way to get inside that tank to put a nut on the back??? Does anyone know how replacing that shutoff valve right at the plastic tank is going to be accomplished???
It's easy to get and put in a bulkhead fitting valve. You use a string tied to the male end and drop it in the tank, then pull through the hole...put the nut on from outside. I do it all the time with 55 gallon drums.
@@plantbasedprepper Sure enough I got a leak and the shutoff valve part broke on my original one. I thought I had it fixed, watch it for an hour and no leaks then came back the next day and the whole 12 gallons of gas was gone!! I will try your suggestion. Thanks for the response.
@olkiedokie3173 get a bulk head fitting....put a string inside the tank...pull threw bottome hole.. hold the strings and thread the bulk head nut through the string and it should drop to the hole. I just did this again with my 55 gallon water drum. Let us know what parts you used. We may all need to replace ours too at some point.
@@plantbasedprepper Will do, I just ordered one from Amazon, it's Polyvinyl Chloride material (plastic) but I'm sure I read where it's gas safe. I'm trying to get this old one off, I'm starting to think it's left-handed threads, it's a witch to get in there with tools in that small area. I will let you know how it goes, i'm starting to get pissy with this but i've got too much invested to throw it away........I think! LOL
@@plantbasedprepper Ok, I got the old valve out, it's a 1/2" male pipe thread going thru that nut you see against the tank, however it is not a bulk head fitting, there is 1/2" pipe thread female brass fitting made into that plastic, that nut serves as an external jam nut to lock it in. I didn't wait for the one I have ordered from Amazon, I went to Ace Hardware and got a 2-12" brass nipple (I wanted to get all that away from the indent part so I can work with the damn thing), then I put a 1/2" fpt to 3/4" female hose fitting on it and bought a brass water hose shut-off valve exactly like what was on there, then hooked my upgraded hose/filler nozzle to that. I used the Gasoila sealant on everything then I pressured it up to 5 lbs and no leaks, I left it pressured and we'll see tomorrow what happens. I wish I could send you pics.
Is a separate reservation required for black sand beach (time slots) if camping there?
No but they are strict on your reservation entry time. They wouldn't let us go to our campsite until 3pm even though no one else was there camping. The park was empty when we arrived so it's kind of silly so plan something to do before arriving or just book the night before too if you want to check in earlier.
Thank you so much for this information!
Good hacks. I'm a Canadian and gas is super expensive here vs. you guys (our government with their high taxes🙄) so something like this makes sense when making road trips down to the good old U.S. of A 🇺🇸
Nice hacks!
Great hacks!
I have the same problem, I have replaced the oil presure swich 5 times it goes away for about 3 months but always comes back ! It only does it when the RPM drops below 500 rpms. I have also tried all the other fixes for the problem but always comes back !
Have you disconnected the battery each time to let computer idle reset?
Katanaboy 1000 is best
Not supposed to fill them in the bed should be on the ground
Glad I found this video…great info!
You could’ve used a 12 v rv pump to get the water onto the pads, and eliminated the 110 pump, completely eliminating the need for any 110
I found your video and ordered the parts to upgrade my fuel caddy. I installed this weekend. Took me a minute to realize the plastic collar was a hindrance around the garden hose and I removed it. But everything is so much better than the original inferior hose and nozzle they supplied. I hate smelling like gas every time I fuel my equipment. Thanks for your suggestions and parts list
I actually had a FACET Fuel-It pump before I got my Tank Caddy. Obviously, the upgrade i did was to replace the hand pump with the battery powered one. Works great.
Do u have a link to where I can get this?
Did you end up finding out ?
Thanks for the video and link to the parts. I have one of these tanks that I replaced the hose on and added the air valve, now the handle is leaking like yours was. I was given a 2nd tank but it's missing the hose and nozzle so I'm going to use your parts list to modify both of them. Thanks again.
How did it turn out?
Is the tank leaking gas on the ground? it sure looks like it. pressurizing a plastic tank? Plastic gets brittle as it ages. I'd be Leary about doing this.
Gas cans are constantly under varying pressure conditions. Have you never left a can sitting in the sun for an hour and then went and popped the cap off, you hear that psssf, that's pressure release.
@@mbredline7603 a Vent come with the tank. Auto gas caps are vented.
Инструкцию то не читали???пилить нужно на себя, а не от себя..эта пила пилит по другому в отличии от стандартных ножовок..усилие делать на себя!!
Thanks for sharing; this is will be very helpful. 👍
Did you have to modify the cap that you are plugging in the ball inflator into???
Check out his first video on this. He pulls the plug from the cap and replaces it.
I would caution using the electric pump on the shader valve where fumes live. I would either go manual there or a pump with hose away from the tank
What gas cap is on the can? Do it have an adapter on it for the pump?
Did your relearn and an hour mixed travel. Apparently good to go. Thanks, good info.
Yes, took me about an hour. I drove to work on streets and the freeway. Then it was good to go. Is yours?
Yes. I also put in the Motorcraft 5/20 and correct filter. Was using an XL filter and tried 10/40 which made issue worse. An awful job replacing sensor, 70 year old contorting body with truck on ramps but removing alternator made the sensor part easy. After about half hour learn in driveway, hour driving city lights then highway truck is fine. Never got light and seems to be running much smoother.
Good job! Driving it around for a while solves it after. Many of the CZcams videos and even I would have kept tackling and replacing more stuff on it if I didn't decide to drive it to work the next day.
This is exactly what I was looking for . Don’t know if I can do it . Don’t have any electrical knowledge.
This is crazy. I’m going to give it a try. Several videos out there but this seems very logical. Thanks.
duramax has changed the gas cap and replaced manual vent with cheap flapper valve. I just order the old style cap from Bass Pro Shops
I had a few others say the same thing. Thanks! I'll put this in the parts list!
I have problem with my F-150 3.5
I have the same problem with my Ford F-150 3.5
Thanks for the info, quick question did the flow and go come with the air fitting for the pumps? Or is that something you have to add to it? Thanks again.
No, you will have to buy the shrader valve stem. It's listed under this video. It's easy. Just pull out the plug from the cap and screw the air intake valve in.
Thank you!
Excellent ideas!! A have a couple of questions: Do those little air pumps completely empty the portable tank of gas? Do you have any issues with gas leaking from (or at) the air inlet valve when transporting a full tank?
You can get almost all of the gas out by tilting it forward when it's almost empty. No gas leaks from the shrader valve but that cheap hose and handle started leaking after a year. Watch this video too about the hose upgrade. czcams.com/video/0Z94W9zNAjg/video.htmlsi=oBpNQlflEvePCMpB
I have the same saw, Silky Katanaboy 650. Of course, the environmental conditions in which it is used are very different. Palm trees are clearly visible in your video, indicating a hot climate. In my case, this is the forest zone of the Northern Hemisphere, the European part of Russia. Dry hardwood logs are hard to find here. Since birch and oak, especially birch, are highly susceptible to rotting. Coniferous logs are much less hard, even when dry. Therefore, using such a saw allows me to very quickly prepare firewood for a fire, spending little time and effort. It seems to me that the long time spent cutting very dry hardwood in your case is due to slipping of the saw teeth. They do not bite into the material, but only scratch it. Therefore, wood dust is formed, and not large shavings when sawing. The position of the saw may need to be adjusted slightly with each movement to ensure better contact with the material. The speed of movement is also important; it should not be too high. In any case, this saw is the only opportunity to have a lightweight tool that you can transport yourself to cut logs up to 40 cm in diameter in the wild.
After the seeing all the problems with the duromax by septer I can see why ended up in the trash without the hose I looked at buying one but at 60.00 dollars and the amount I would use it I just left it in my shed until I moved to Drumheller Alberta and commuted to Calgary for work and found the prices for gasoline could be a large difference between the two places sometimes over 10 cents a litre that's 45 cents a imperial gallon almost 40 cents a US gallon so I filled the Flo and go as a backup without the hose and nozzle I did find a problem because my siphon pump packed it in and all I had was a peice of 1/2 irrigation pipe siphon it into my 5 gallon ¹gas can it got me to the nearest gas station also filled it up when prices were about to rise used it a few times for that reason then I parked the van for over a year now that fuel prices are about to go up by 10 to 20 cents per litre I drained it into my pt cruiser I did finally get smart cut 10 feet off the male end of a garden hose and attached it to the tank worked great and since my gas gauge does not work I put 2 gallons in my gas can and headed from east coulee 20 kilometers to Drumheller and refilled it and all my gas cans prices in Calgary are already up by 10 cents per litre so since I had a Doctor's appointment I filled while in town almost 300 dollars to fill my big cube van and all my gas cans including the duromax
The flo n go's are a good concept, terrible quality. I only ever used the stand alone pump that could syphon by squeezing. But they never lasted more than two seasons. I would pay more money for the same concept in a quality item, made of metal, and replaceable seals.
With all of the upgrades, I'm happy with it but it ends up costing $300 to make it better. Seems like everything we buy nowadays doesn't last very long because they use cheap parts to lower the price tag.
You can make your own spring rolls 1000x cheaper and tastier it’s just cabbage/carrots wrapped in rice paper. Don’t waste your money on that frozen crap.
What kind of saw did you use to cut the holes?
I used a dremel and drill bit and just followed the lines I drew. It cuts easy because it's plastic.
