How To Assemble A Live Animal Trap
Here is an example of how to assemble one of Ranger Daves live animal traps. These are the perfect sized trap for raccoon's, possums, stray cats and other large size critters.

The newer model is a bit different, but this still helped 😊
A humane one door trap I used was broken open by wild animal. The front door is now not attached to the trap, and one of the pieces is completely off. I have looked for instructions on how to repair this trap, with no luck. The instruction manual has terrible, blurry photos, so it isn't any help. Does anyone know where I can find information to reconstruct this trap? I would hate to have to buy another, as I've only used it a few times. Thank you.
Very helpful! Thank you.
Helped a bit but securing the back door he didn’t show that very well. Mine seems flimsy like it’s not on right.
Got mine from Harbor freight same size for $30. It came with the trap rod attached with two small rings to hold the rod close to the side of the trap. Catching possums that live under my house works great.
I had the misfortune to buy a #465N animal trap. The plate is NOT AT ALL what is shown here. TOTALLY UNABLE TO FIGURE OUT how to set the trap plate in the lower position. If I can't get a prompt reply, it is going back to Menards. I don't have the time to try to figure out your inadequate printed instructions. VERY FRUSTRATED RIGHT NOW.
Thank you! Took me the last 30 minutes googling and trying to figure this out… the videos by the companies are not easy to see what they are doing. Yours was perfect
I have this trap and it appears to be built well, and although her trap should work, as others have said she put multiple things together wrong.
Thank you, I received my trap but didn't know how to set it. The instructions manual wasn't clear
Bought one today, disgusted with horrible instructions. This is an old problem that JT Eaton refuses to address.
I just received my trap, and had no idea where the two long pieces of metal went. Your video was very descriptive, and the pictures were great. I could not have done it without you. Thanks.
we are an factory ,and professional to produce the live animal traps. see our homepage www.trapping-supply.com BTW: The video shows wrong install ways on the back door. the back door can't lock if the rod did not go though the clips . It will may appear trapped animals escaped
Great video, very helpful
How do you adjust the sensitivity? I need to catch very small kittens. They’ve gone in a couple times but don’t weigh enough to activate the trap door.
You go too fast for an old woman. I needed to see more of the video on closing the back door.
Why are all the videos about the large or small some people use meduim and theirs no tutorials
Thank, thank you for clear instructions 👍😁
Thank you so much. Not sure if it’s correct but it stays open till I poke the flat plate, then slams shut! Yay!!! Now I just hope I catch armadillos and not skunks.
Thanks, I just bought a similar one and it helped me setting up the trap.
nice job im doing that soon czcams.com/channels/nxNw7_Kgmy6jmrHvU_tYsQ.html
Price
$52.84 from Groupon. Everything’s getting more expensive daily.
couldn't keep the hook from slipping so covered it with gaffe tape for added friction
Thanks, I did it. But your explanation so quickly and we are not professional.
You need to thread the straight part of the reinforcement for the back door through the little metal clips near the bottom of the trap. The hook should be closer to the middle/upper part of the back door. She put this piece upside down and I imagine that the door could easily be manipulated by the animal and pulled into the trap, allowing for release. I know she said to thread them through, but since it is upside down that could confuse some people because the hook portion can not be threaded through the rings.
Great directions!
Perfect
Perfect! Thank you!
Thank you, this made it so much easier and nice sound and clear picture.
She forgot to put the rear bar through the holding clips on the back part of the cage. The flat on the cage will flop around
Thank you! Such a simple and to the point video! Xx
sure it's easy when you know thanks 👍
Thank u so much i would have been lost without this video
Thank you for this. I had such trouble but this made it easy.
Finally someone who shows a close up . Easy th o understand Thanks
You just saved me hours of reading the useless paper directions. Thank you.
@Yoda Dunbar Mine came with instructions but they were pretty useless. I'm glad this video was here.
Great video so thanks heaps.
Can't thank you enough... I was just about to throw the piece of s__t in the trash.
The U shape wire for backdoor should put through (the straight part) the two rings at backdoor. And the hook part should hook the wall side wire. The trigger wire’s hook should be turned downside to hook the trigger.
I purchased this trap on eBay and it arrived today. It's a great value for $30. I trap feral cats, and have several kinds of Humane Traps from cheap to very expensive. This trap is not bad. It lacks the small round clips that hold the part that attaches to the plate in place, but you can make them using a piece of wire. It has an open back (great option) which comes with a piece of metal to hold shut, but I recommend using a clip like on a dog leash to secure the back door. Again, I found this trap to be a good value.
What do you do with the cats?
my hook for the trigger plate wont stay on!
Thanks!
I bought a trap a week ago and could not work it out all week. The bad instruction sheet it came with was not clear. You made it look so easy and me feel so stupid. Thanks though LOL.
Hey Ranger Dave, I bought a few of your traps on Amazon and would like to get more. How can I order them?
