im in Houston and built a metal building similar to the one in the video. the local company here is telling me that 1"of closed cell is sufficient, while others are telling me 1" on the walls and 2" on the ceilings?

Hello. The question is if you are going to put AC in the building. If no AC then 1” is sufficient for walls and roof. If you putting AC in the building I would recommend 2” on walls and 3” on roof. Hope to at helps.

Thank you for the pointer to seal up those ribbed gaps at the base. You think it’s totally ok then to spray closed cell directly to the metal? I’m in Oregon and it gets wet here but not really humid. Also, can I get away with 2” you think?

There are no issues spraying closed cell directly to the metal. I think your climate is similar to ours in Dallas Texas. You may consider 3” closed cell foam if you will be doing AC. If not 2” is plenty.
