Lost us when you brought race and social justice nonsense into something that should be universally looked at beyond race or intersectionality biases. There are no systemic inequities directed towards anybody or certain group. I hope Beth El gets the funding and outreach it needs without fueling racial tensions or division.

The Coordinated Access Networks do pay close attention to chronic homelessness. We encourage you to contact 2-1-1 for a referral to your local CAN: uwc.211ct.org/ Please write to us at info@cceh.org if you have other questions. Thank you for your comment.

The CT Alliance to Benefit Law Enforcement has provided training to Officer Gotowala and his colleagues across the state in Crisis Intervention Team training which helps officers identify, connect with, and de-escalate possible crisis situations. CIT encourages partnerships, just like those between Bristol and Waterbury, and their social service partners. The facilitation (training) team also includes the perspective of a person with lived experience throughout the training. While CIT implies that the training only focuses on the "crisis," in fact, it is all about building long-term relationships with members of the community.
