I got it running, no more rod knock. although it runs, it still doesn’t drive. I ran out of time to diagnose the clutch issue.

Filmed this video july 2022. My 3rd time taking the truck to apple valley and it drove pretty good. What i’ve done to the truck since the last video: •Custom front sway bar •850lb springs in the front (previously 550lb) •stabfab rack and pinion conversion •electric power steering •T3 tension rods and after all that, it handles a million times better👍🏻

The exposed pulleys, oil pan, etc, give me so much anxiety. I'd put a thick-ass skid plate on there just to stop thinking about it.
What's the part number and brand on that alternator belt?
Sick build! Hows the inline fuel pump working? Im in the middle of swapping a 1uz into an 87 pickup (22r) and am trying to figure out the best pump setup. Did you run -6an hose all the way from the tank?

Awesome build. A lot of custom work done to it. Any reason you didn’t build the front upper an arm mounts higher so the angle is more level / matches with the lower arm?
though my control arm angle is not ideal, it works for what i am doing for now. i chose to leave the stock mounting locations so i can run a proper drop knuckle once i switch to the 2nd gen pickup control arm and knuckle assembly. if i raised the upper control arm mount i would need to raise the lower control arm mount as well, too much work haha.

Super cool build. Only thing to consider is the WILD angle on the front upper control arms... The camber gain must be nuts.
yes, totally agree. i’ve been driving it like that for almost 2 years. though it would handle MUCH better if i raised the car, it still works phenomenal. this generation has no option for a drop knuckle, therefore i must change out my lower control arm and whole knuckle assembly to the following generation’s setup, then buy a drop knuckle kit for that… definitely on the list of things to do!

To bleed the clutch on a 4k you need to reverse bleed it from the bottoms you can do this in a couple different way a small garden sprayer attached to the bleeder and just push it back through. Or you can do the exact same thing with the driver side brake hose just take it off and a attach a jose from there to the bleeder on the clutch just pump the brakes hope this helps I have 5 of these if you need help

I had an 87 Quattro back in 2005. It was a free beater from a friend. NA 5 speed car. Fun car with the diffs locked on dirt roads. Beat the piss outta that thing. Gave it the burning man org when I was done with it. They used it for yeeeeaaars as a staff work car out in the desert. Last I saw it was around 2015 or so.

Nice work. That ring gear is directional. Hopefully you were aware of that when you swapped it over to the flywheel. If you put it on backwards, the teeth on the starter and ring gear will get chewed up.
