    Does anyone know how you would incorporate flash into this workflow as it pertains to white balance and the color temperature of the flash for macrophotography?

    • @MattHill
      @MattHill Před dnem

      @OralAnatomyTutor no problems. Yes. Replace any of my advice about choosing a particular light source and replace it with your flash(es). Try making a single custom camera profile for your flash if you only use one. If you use many flashes, make one for each of them. If you notice that the color shifts as the exposure changes 9which is very possible), make a dual illuminant custom camera profile for your flash at its lowest power setting and highest power setting. The reason is that, depending on how the flash modifies the power (as the flash duration gets shorter), there may be a color shift.

    Jared -- THESE ONLINE TUTORIALS never seem to match up with what happens here when I try to follow along. Prompts are slightly different, results of hitting a given button are somewhat different, on and on. If I use a Rogue ExpoDisc for "perfect" white light, have I bypassed the issues that the ColorChecker addresses? With 18-percent light going into my camera, it seems the resulting images and colors would be "perfect" at that point. I have the ColorChecker, the ExpoDisc and Lightroom, but Lightroom always seems infernally complicated. Any advice...? Many Thanks! --K.O.

    Hello Art. Thanks for the vid. PC user here. I just did a reset on my almost 8 yera old dell desktop & had to reload all my application software & losing a couple of programs. Anyway I have the xrite i1 Display Pro & i1 Studio. I went online & downloaded the 1.31 software & all was/is fine. Today i recieve a pop-up from xrite (or maybe Calibrite) saying i1 Prrofiler 3.2.0 upgrade is available & I should upgrade. So I did. When I use to click on 1.3.1 app tray on the task bar & right click on the i1 Profiler symbol, a option to remeasure my ambient light & rebuild profile would show. I would click on it & the i1 Display Pro would blink a few times, measure & rebuild the profile & I would do a softproof if needed & or just print. With the 3.2.0 it doesn't do that but it blinks every 40 seconds & guessing it is measuring the ambient light. It does give a couple options & one is run the i1 Profiler. Do you think it is neccessary to reprofile everytime I print or,,,??? just wait the 4 weeks I have it set for. Thanks for any replies.

    nice video, yet a bit silly. as you show the screen of using calibrite profiler in a benQ SW monitor. the sW monitor line like mine, has BenQ own hardware calibration software (Palette Master). please dont suggest people should use a software based calibration (like Calibrite Profiler) over a more precise hardware calibration (with LUT tables). I hope I misunderstood something or you just pick the wrong monitor to show this tutorial.

    • @MattHill
      @MattHill Před měsícem

      Hi @Bombu - Great question! Sorry if this was not entirely clear. The process requires you to covert the image of the ColorChecker to DNG (in LrC (Library > Convert to DNG) but not ALL your images. Once you have the custom camera profile, you can apply it to your out-of-camera RAW files (.nef, .cr2. cr3, .arw, .orf, .raf etc.) without converting to DNG.

    I'm trying this and not having any luck. I can't get past the "Export" then select the X-Rite plugin. I've downloaded X-Rite's software, created a camera profile from photographed color charts. The files it creates are .dcp which are grayed out in Lightroom Classic. No idea why. Any suggestions would be appreciated. All this effort is in an attempt to shoot interiors with mixed lighting; daylight & incandescent and/or LED. It seems the new sensors are far more sensitive. I'm using a Lumix s5IIx. My old Canon 5d seemed more forgiving.

    Yes! This information is pure gold! The hands on demonstration the insight into application and workflow. This is an Acre of Diamonds. I started shooting headshots and building out a mobile kit just three weeks ago, I already assembled basically both of these exact lighting set ups. Next I got a tether tools cable and started shooting my self with a canon R and an RF 85mm straight into LightRoom on my MacBook Pro with the westcott eyelighter 3 and a Godox 200pro in a 38inch soft box. Using a V1 for a fill or hair light. I use the 5x7 collapsable backdrop with stand because I’m starting local. I already shoot real estate HDR and do 3D tours, video, gimbal work and drone photo and video along with agent intros and voiceovers. I figured that so many agents and teams tell me they have a photographer already, but most of these people have bad head shots on their social media. So I decided to learn to do that to get more clients and get my foot in the door with these brokerages and agencies, now that I can pull it off and I have the gear it’s about building the website and social media channels and marketing. I’m heading out to the Fire Station in my neighborhood this weekend to offer them discounted headshots I’ll be hitting up all the realtors and brokerages within a few weeks! This video basically told me I’m already on the right track and ain’t nothing to it but to do it! A big thanks to you guys 👍🙏

    I just bought Calibrite Color Passport 2, how can be possible that the plastic is so hard to open? I have to put oil in the hinges to open more smoothly, without the oil and because of the vibration of the bad quality plastic you are using for years, there are ever remainings of the painting inside, its time to change isn´t it?

    • @MattHill

      Hi Carlos - sorry I missed this. My experience is that is does have resistance, but for a purpose - to hold it open when using standing up. After openng it up a few times, it was very easy thereafter. Although it may take some effort, I've never felt the need to oil it. And please be extra careful doing that, as oil on any color patch (from that or fingerprints) can prevent making good color profiles; it changes the color/value of the patch.
