had a static caravan there all through the 70s and early 80s great times
What month was this please?
I grew up just a bus ride from Rhyl. I loved my days on the beach there with my Mum. The place is a C""p hole now & gone forever.
Thanks for uploading. Shame it was left to rot for 45 + years. It’s a sorry state now
Memories indeed!
Great video 👍👍🏴
Great video 👍
Wales look`s like England in many way`s.
A great effort not backed by government .
I was born in Rhyl in the mid 50’. It was a fantastic place to grow up. Unfortunately Rhyl started on the decline back when this was filmed but it was a hell of a lot better than it is today. The greedy councillors with their vision of what Rhyl should be has turned the place into a shit hole. If that’s progress then you can keep it. I’ll remember Rhyl as it used to be. Nice video. 🏴👍
I remember collecting a Gilbern body from a very nice father and son in Rhewl mostyn in the early 90s. They also owned a complete Gilbern as I recall, and a Jowett Jupiter of all things.. Anyway, I remember a landlocked ship nearby, possibly a small liner type. Seemed surreal at the time.
This is not very clear about location . I'm in nz, looking for connections with Llandudno and area , Mostyn street is in Llandudno. How are geese related . my mother holidayed there as a youngster and teen ,with the Tiptons ,who were her cousins , I'd love to join some location dots . Put a voice to them?
How are these related ? Silly Google goose spelling ❤nz
This is literally on my doorstep. Seeing her then compared to now is a sad view.
Wow
Shd be like that now
He was a bit of a lad liked him
Wow this is the Holywell I remember
I wonder if those camper vans are still parked up by the tall buildings at the end? :D :D
Nice vid
Used to holiday in north wales back in the early nineties as a child with my grandparents. It was so exciting back then. I miss those days so much.
5:13 now a homebargains 😮how times have changed
Very interesting video but not a single mension of the T11 !
Now look at it, even less now. Good old corrupt Denbighshire council have really ripped the heart out the place.
in the 1980s I just Deliver eggs around Rhy
Thank you great video
All so familiar. So many names gone now.
John Mander was my Geography teacher. We'd easily distract him from teaching us by asking him about his railwayana collection and he would talk avidly for the whole lesson😊
I do not remember there being petrol stations in Prestatyn. I know that the one that was the Shell garage must have sold petrol at some time, because of the layout, but I do not remember the Peugeot garage selling petrol. It was not the L1 Coastliner, as that was a limited stop bus.
Looks so different and at same time not
Pride of Wales 🏴
Brilliant, could see the Jacko bus from Wrexham bringing miners to Point Of Ayr colliery, thanks 👍
1972 Invader Mk 3
R.I.P. Tony Selby and Jill Gascoine.
Those old double deckers were everywhere when I was a kid. They look prehistoric now. *GULP
My grandmother said she travelled up and down the branch to Holywell all day on the day of its opening: free travel. It would be good to know about the locomotive used, LNWR of course
Brilliant Vid, thanks for uploading
Great memories, well done for preserving them 👍
Wow history of the Gilberns mine is a 1971 MK2.
I was there watching this in 1979... Unbelievable
So very interesting!
Was that a massive rat running into the hedge on the left at 05:35?
I remember The shunt loco at Mostyn when we used to put loaded Steel trains in there from Healy Mills in EWS days.
What a brilliant song. I used to go to point of Ayr Colliery in the 1980s. The company I worked for used to repair the Two way Radio`s that they used on site.
Prestatyn Holiday Camp tower at the beginning!!!
I'm only 62 but 1988 seems like just the other day. I was 28 house kids mortgage etc. How time flies..
Worked at Rhyl No.1 signalbox, had many a chat with Derek over the years. 3 shifts 0600-1400, 1400-2200 and 2200-0600. We were always on the same shifts early, lates or nights.
Everything we loved, gone. Thanks for recording, it is so valuable now.
Just goes to show, you can't polish a turd can you, still a toilet place even now!!!
Just as I thought , Rhyl was a shithole back then and nothing has changed to the present day really. Depressing place and the smell of blocked drains everywhere you went. Thankfully I only had to work there as a young bobby back in the late 80s and early 90s.
cool video (im kidding it sucks)
