The question from Chelsea was "where we came from, where our parents came from"...not "where our ancestors came from." Regina initially answered that she's from LA. Then Jennifer asked about ancestry. These are different things to most Black Americans that were part of American slavery. That knowledge was stripped when they were kidnapped and brought over to America and likely integrated with other people and tribes from the continent of Africa, as well as white people. If it wasn't for DNA testing, Regina might not have ever known. I'm not sure if Jennifer was trying to draw it out, but her demeanor (her non verbal communication) comes across as if she had a different motive. If that was not her intent, she needs to check it.

Regina answers that she is from LA and her parents were from the south until Her mom left and moved to LA. If you really watch the clip Regina answered the question. The question was where is everyone from?? Where are your PARENTS from?? If Regina chose to talk about her ancestors then that would’ve been her right. I don’t believe that Jennifer was being in any fashion a racist. I was born in Wisconsin but I grew up in various parts of Arkansas and South Central Los Angeles. Los Angeles til this day will always be my home. HOWEVER my mom was born in Wisconsin and my dad was born in Mississippi. I also know that my family is part Native American, and the slave background/sharecropper background. I also have Native American and other races in my ancestry. Everyone doesn’t want to always talk about slavery UNLESS it’s meant for us to talk about it. Learn the difference and stay in your lane.
