The face starts of in a mold and then can be turned into an infinite number of variations, by adding hair, or changing the mouth, lips, eyes, nose, teeth and facial shape. The mold just helps you get much closer to having a finished product, and not needing to start from scratch.

Where can I get that needle tool?
I actually made the needle tool. It's a normal needle tool with a piece of steel wire looped around and glued to the opposite end with epoxy.
I love watching you sculpt your whimsical faces! Do you ever glaze your faces?
Thanks, I actually fire, and then lightly antique them. But don't put any other glaze on them. I like to keep each face as detailed as the clay itself.

What is this material?
It's standard, earthen red ceramic clay for potttery and hand building. I chose it for the color.
