    I am concerned that unforseen things which were picked up in the hands on model making will be even more infrequently found using 3D printing. For instance, the muck from cutting and carving out in modeling the façade's curvy pattern won't be there in the 3D. Therefore the realisation by the architect from the modelling that in real life and at full scale, such dirt traps on a the face of a building in Soho are an unnecessary future maintenance cost and a bad idea needing more thought, such will be lost.

    Printers are good but... For me the biggest : "No GO" is Cura Slicer. Cura is really the worst slicer in my experience. I never have a good time with it. Why they can't do what everyone else does: a fork of Prusa Slicer to finally offer a pleasant experience. Given the price of the machines, when the software does not keep up it is unacceptable. There I said it.

    Dear Ultimaker Team, I recently found out that in the Sketch series, you use an EPA filter, which is not sufficient to remove VOCs and nanoparticles from 3D printing fumes. The Ultimaker S line only has a HEPA filter without carbon additives. It seems like the focus is more on profit, even though your machines are already expensive. Please, please prioritize safety by incorporating better safety tools to protect users. This is dangerous, especially for the new generation. Educate them about the risks before focusing on the technical aspects. And I don't know which material you show in the video, but these fumes are not parfum, tell them stay away😢

    I have to use the ultimaker 3 at work and i honestly can tell my anycubic vyper for 240€ i had and now my bambu lab a1 are much much better than that shit ultimaker. It's slow, it not accurate, it fucks up like 20-30% of the prints, you have so much work cleaning the mess. The worst thing with it is the glass plate. I HATE IT SO MUCH. Either nothing sticks to it, or it sticks so much you have to fight with the plate either breaking the glass or the part you printed on because its like super glued on. Today i came to work to find AGAIN my 15 hour print ruined. With normal printers with a metall plate your parts simple fall off when the plate cools down. With that glass plate if your print is finished over night and when the plate cools down 5mm from the bottom of your parts shrink and get like a vaccuum suck on that plate. So they can be only removed forcefully. You either break the parts or you rip off an edge or surface. I HATE THIS PRINTER SO MUCH. Glass plates suck and this printer is terrible bad and slow.

    I remember the good old days, when Ultimaker would advance technology with a huge community. Seemingly, managers have taken over seeking to maximize profit short term. 20k for this is ridiculous. Apparently, the development of this machine began before the advent of the X1C. And they decided to just steam ahead anyways. I work for two companies that rely heavily on 3D printing. One SME with a print farm, the other a large enterprise using Ultimakers in prototyping and production. Both have moved away form Ultimaker towards Bambulab with a year. The factor 4 confirm that decision.

    This is what happens when Stratasys meets Ultimaker. They create a rock solid machine with the best performance. But then they nerf it with proprietary hardware and software limits. It seems that they have just improved the old tech, instead of adapting new tech.

  • @mjrudisill
    @mjrudisill Před 4 měsíci

    Yikes, another disappointing announcement from Ultimaker. The S7 was a repackaged S5 with an obnoxious price. This still lacks speed, lacks something as basic and proper as an active carbon filter. What exactly is 'industrial grade'? I am assuming heavy for the sake of being heavy makes it industrial? You can get 8 of the Bambu Lab's X1Es for the price of one of these (each that will print reliably at 4x the speed), and if the extra 20c is super necessary, or the slightly bigger build volume, there are tons of other options for half the price. I would be SHOCKED to see a 95% success rate since the S5 we have has been nothing but problems and rarely gets 2 successful prints in a row. Ultimaker has completely lost their way. After this announcement I have zero faith they are going to be worth while ever again. Too many other companies making actual progress and miles ahead.

  • @Welcome2TheInternet
    @Welcome2TheInternet Před 4 měsíci

    So according to Ultimaker, the reasons you should all be spending $20,000 USD on this machine are as follows: 1) It prints correctly 95% of the time 2) It has lower accuracy (+/-0.2mm) than a Bambu X1 (+/- 0.1mm) 3) It has a direct drive extruder (like an Ender 3) 4) The software has a "new code base" (big selling point!!!!) 5) It has similar heated chamber (but smaller build area) than a Flashforge Creator 4 (but is twice the price). Why would anyone spend 20k USD on this piece of obsolete underspecced crap when you can get an Intamsys Funmat Pro or an Aon3D (both capable of printing ULTEM and PEEK0 for the same price (or less)?

Which makes one wonder, how long it will be before the S5 becomes obsolete too, now they've introduced this latest Factor 4 iteration. 🤔
