About TwoSecondsWatch
Founded by two friends casually talking about watches and enjoying them, TWOSECONDSWATCH is a hobby turned business. We are watch lovers and enthusiasts first and always, and we want to make sure that every person's watch journey is one that is of enjoyment and also discovery.
Collecting and owning watches is a journey for most of our clients, and we hope to add value by not only procuring and curating the watches but we only sell watches we ourselves would love to wear and personally own. We also give honest write-ups and sometimes review and critique the watches we sell and talk about how it feels on the wrist - because we know what it's like to want a watch, to finally buy it, and then realize you don't feel the way you thought you did! We are uniquely online-based only to keep the costs low, so we can pass the savings to our customers. As such, our watches and straps are competitively priced and reflect that as well.

I agree with you on all the points you mentioned. I like both Rolex and Tudor but both are entirely way overpriced compared to many other Swiss brands. Rolex and Tudor know this and have been milking the market for big easy profits for years. Now the hype has passed and big prices are turning collectors to other Swiss and German brands that are still high quality but more reasonably priced. I also believe that the microbrand market are producing models that have an excellence about them for a fraction of the price.

My reason for avoiding Tudor is that I think that they are ugly watches, especially the BB58. I can't unsee that silly lopped off hour hand. Plus they're a rip-off, if they were under $1000, maybe. Plus the idea that there must be a saturation point in the market. There must be a lot of enthusiasts like me out there that have decided that 6 watches is enough, and, like me, they don't buy a watch to sell, they keep it for life, then maybe hand it down. Although, my son couldn't care less about my watches, he doesn't wear a watch, and probably never will. After all, nobody needs a watch these days, the is displayed everywhere.

I dont think it’s for everyone, I do feel personally the design of the hands match the pelagos and square shaped indices better. I think that balances the dial more, I personally do think that lopped off our hand does not make sense from a design perspective as it is strange to pair with round indices. I think @id-guy has a good video talking about this on his channel.

I stand with you 1000%!!! Your words and opinions are needed by our community. I can only speak for myself but I fell for the whole TudorPooter hype and bought a BB 2 tone. Kept it for a year and finally it became the first watch I ever sold/traded in. I used the money to buy my wife a diamond bracelet. Then I bought her a DJ mint dial. Established myself and created a trusting relationship with a wonderful AD( who doesn’t even sell Rolex in her location currently but can get them from the main location). I played the game… And I’m glad I did because now I’m waiting on the phone call for my two tone SeaDweller. I have a friend and AD. Is Tudor well-made…yes… is Tutor a great entry-level watch… Absolutely! I just moved on🤷. I respect your stance and I’m with you!👊👊👊👊👊

It’s a great watch indeed, been loving two tones lately, I think it’s the up and coming trend perhaps? 🤔

Isn’t it estimated that Rolex produces around 1.2 million watches per year, while Tudor produces around 250,000 watches per year? About a million less per year than Rolex. With this fact alone, doesn’t it stand to reason that Rolex does the “fake waitlist” thing to a much larger extent than Tudor? Also kinda makes you feel like owning a Tudor is much more exclusive than owning a Rolex for the same reason. There are literally 5x as many Rolex watches floating around each year than Tudors. But yet people think Rolex is more exclusive? This almost sounds a bit “gaslighty” to me.

  • @ch97488

Tudor is better than Rolex hands down...Rolex is built up by watch dealers ...40% are fake not just watch but also the papers...stupid to buy a Rolex in the second hand market and the whole wait attitude of Rolex showrooms is going to bring it down...times have changed..if your a collector you know Tudor and breitling are going to be making a huge comeback...

Rolex prices are not plummeting, a visit to any reputable independent Grey market dealer will prove that. Their prices are just returning to realistic levels, where dealers are making a small return profit on their watches, not the crazy profits seen a few years ago.

  • @gabikeswatchbricks6944

Great review I agree with you Tudor are getting sick and boring with no innovation at all, price are dropping so badly if you buy from retail all the best your Tudor price will drop until you cry Buy from reseller for Tudor those people buying Tudor is just to get a waiting list for Rolex then once Rolex get they sell their Tudor away at low cost that what make Tudor price drop like crazy

  • @ultrasonicradiation

You are telling me that coming out with a black dial of an existing model will take two years? Mass production of a new dial colour will take maximum 3 months. Designing a completely new watch will not take 2 years these days.

    • @twosecondswatch
      @twosecondswatch Před 10 dny

From my sources, larger watch brands and manufactures take a long time and are quite unlike other manufacturing companies. They are traditionally very slow to react to the market and also to conceptualise and launch any variation of a watch. Of course depending on what changes are made sometimes there are subtle changes such as to bracelets, materials, etc - this is quite true of the new Longines Spirit Zulu 39mm titanium. Although it appears to be just a dial color change material changes require changes to their machinery. There’s also another reason for the slow process is that many brands are very traditional and slow to make changes and decisions. Perhaps it’s also to space out their releases - if you notice many brands do this - instead of launched many colours in one go, they space it out over months or years. I guess what I’m trying to get to in the video is that the black dial monochrome like watches we see coming out now is actually something decided perhaps 1-2 years ago in the making, from the decision to the release

*Sub is easy like 2 years ago easy, maybe in your part of the world it's difficult, but in America, you can get a sub date or no date in less than 3 months, some have gotten it in a week 0 purchase history. it's a datejust with a sub case and higher depth rating, it's the same mass produced time date movement, only the no date has a different movement. Don't buy this Tudor trash and pretend it's a Rolex, it's a waste, get it at a discount and negotiate hard on the grey. Monochrome Black Bay is too thick. METAS is an overpriced sales tactic.* *Also what constitutes a Rolex Jubilee Bracelet as per Rolex's classification in legal proceedings is an exactly identical 5 link bracelet and clasp "WITH" the Rolex Coronet then it is a Rolex Jubilee bracelet. They never really secured a patent on the design of the 'jubilee style bracelet' anyway (Jacoby Bender used to make it for them back in the day), hence you don't see them suing people for using bracelets that look like it (eg Zodiac etc) , as long as you don't use the crown, they're good.* I'm gonna admit, I'm a biased Rolex Snob, at least I'm honest about it. Don't go Tudor unless you're buying it for like 25% off, get that sub instead, then by the time you know it you'll sell the sub and will likely be in a better watch after, maybe a GMT, Daytona or President. No Tudor is worth retail ever. I tried a BB58 3 years ago, I sold in in 2 weeks, even the discount made me think how bad value it was, funny thing I broke even. Never again.

Hi 👋 and thanks for sharing your experience and thoughts on this issue. I’m surprised that the Rolex has Submariners where you’re from without any waitlist. It has been the common practice that they actually do have them, but they do not display them and when people enquire they do tell them they do not have. Of course I am aware they do have them, and perhaps they are selecting their customers. This kind of practice is quite common, I speak about it in my other Rolex video. 😀

To test out this theory, we just need to ask a simple question. If the Rolex watches (all the models) are just $100 (edited from $10 to make it more interesting😂) higher than their Tudor counterparts and all are readily available in store, which brand will you go for? I will be very surprise not to see majority choose the crown period.

Worst part is that Tudor after 100 years still doesn’t have their own design language or something original. You can argue that just one Seiko Monster is more original then whole Tudor line of watches since 1926.

Tudor IS a solid, well-built, tool-oriented swiss watch. As for resale- if your love of wrist watches is outweighed by your desire to recoup your money upon resale, I would not get into watches.

This is nonsense. Why dealers are buying from AD with high price and then sell with lower price ? Such discussions are useless. Yes, Rolex prices can drop and what ? Any thing or service have prices up and down. If today the price is down tomorrow the price can increase. This is why such presentations are not really important for potential buyers of Rolex but more important for obtaining more visualizations. Luxury products will have always buyers , people will not move from Rolex to other brands which have not vibe , even if their watches are better looking. Luxury brands develop strategies to keep high prices while going to normal people to sell more. Thus we will see more people with Rolex while the price stay high. Poor people will buy Rolex to feel better.

Not true. Brands don't need to have tons of models to be successful or even desirable. Rolex have very simple catalogue for all these years and it's still the biggest watch brand in the world. In non watch world, you can see examples like Apple and Tesla, which keeps very simple product line up but focus more on quality and timeless design theme. Many other examples I don't want to list all but you get the point.

    • @twosecondswatch

Thanks for sharing your point of view! Rolex still does have different lines, though most of them are based on the Oyster case design. They are trying though, with their launch of the 1908 line. Apple Watch on the other hand doesn’t need to have any lines - they just pull you into the ecosystem. In this case you’ll want to buy iPhones, iPads, MacBooks… etc. Tesla car models do have different lines withe Model X, S, 3, Y and they are expanding to their solar powerwall technologies. I do think for watch brands it’s a little different than tech companies.

I bought one of these in early 2000s after buying a Submariner in 1996 and a Daytona in 1999. Why this Yacht Master did not take off in value escapes me but I think it may be due to it's market position relative to the other Rolex models. Men often buy a Submariner as their first Rolex, and once they have done that, they start looking at other Rolex models and at that point the Yacht Master gets overlooked. This model was one of the first to have solid links, some heft due to the Platinum, and some bling due to the polished body. It has the body of a Daytona and the movement of a Submariner. The Lums on it are awesome. When you own one you say to yourself, "Crap, this thing is just really cool!" When you go to a party, it is a great conversation piece. This watch is every bit as good as the newer ones Rolex has released, in my opinion. Get a Yacht-Master!!

Hi All, I have noticed a lot of hate and also alot of unfounded attacks on me and my channel for my opinion of this video. It is clear that many who do so have not actually watch the ENTIRETY of the video. I stand by this video and my analysis and opinions are made based on sound information which I provide the links to them as well. The massive price correction figures of the Tudor watches are from Watchcharts and Chrono24. I am not creating a video out of spite and spreading misinformation on purpose to get views - the truth is that the brand has become one dimensional due to the success of the Black Bay line. To the haters, do watch the entire video and try to understand objectively that this video is meant to address the issue on Tudor prices massive crash on the secondary market. If you disagree, it's fine... just enjoy the video! Let's keep ourselves civil here. :)

I think the problem with your viewpoint is that it's founded on a very anomalous period where watch values spiked in a crazy manner for a very, very, very short period of time. Many watches and brands felt this bump and therefore they're most susceptible to a return to reality. And in reality, for decades and decades, you would always lose at least 50% of your value on any watch you purchased. There were only merely a handful of models from a couple of brands where you might not lose value in the medium/long term. So I think there is not a lot of value in super close analysis of the current market as it recovers from the most anomalous market dynamic since the quartz crisis and eventually settles into normal. Nor does it really mean Tudor has a problem per se. The whole industry is facing some issues now

Nearly 20min long video and your whole point to bash Tudor was because they named a majority of their current lineup black bay? So what if Rolex suddenly renamed (highly unlikely) all their models to something like Submariner GMT, Submariner Chrono. Submarine Pro, Etc? Are u going to bash Rolex too? Come on its just a model name but we all know they are different watches with different functions and target audience

Thanks for your feedback. I’m not actually bashing, but rather explaining that they don’t have a strong model line besides the black bay line. The success of that line has cause them to no longer innovate as tudor normally does prior to their black bay line. Of course it’s ok to have a strong line like the omega speedmaster, however they have other strong ones as well, and they are innovating more than tudor is.

@@twosecondswatch Dosent help when at the end of the video you call the black bay 58 GMT rubbish but all u have to back that up is only because they named it another black bay. Probably would be much better to dive into technicalities if you want to label a particular watch rubbish in the future

I've just bought a Grand Seiko Diver. Here are 5 reasons why it's better than Rolex Submariner. - Better movement (Spring Drive) - Better finish (Zaratsu polishing) - Has a power reserve indicator - Japanese heritage - Lower price 😂

Continue living in your delusions. One day you will be able to afford an IWC and then you will understand why this toyish Longines doesn't even come close to an IWC Pilot (Big Pilot or even Mark series)

the reason i bought a tudor is because i want a tudor and it costs about 50% less than a rolex which i think has better value and you dont confuse a tudor with a rolex...if you want a rolex simply buy a rolex....very simple...by the way, rolex is also a mass produced brand...

If it sells well, why wouldn't you keep pushing it? Business 101. BMW for example has been making the same looking cars for decades with little to no changes in looks and performance, but they keep selling like crazy. No one cares that their BMW is just like all the millions of other BMWs they see on the road every day. They love what BMW is about and they will keep buying or leasing them. That is just good business. They found their niche. Tudor Retail has always been far more expensive than the Market price. Serious Tudor buyers and collectors never pay retail. They buy Grey market. Right now Rolex has finally burned its bridge with its buyers because of its business practices over the years. Rolex buyers are fed up and dont want to buy Rolex brand due to Rolex's AD arrogance. Tudor is not meant to be Rolex despite containing Rolex internals. It was originally marketed to people who cannot or will never afford a Rolex brand. It is a Rolex with different movement and less precious metals on the exterior, to make it more affordable with the Tudor name slapped on its face. It is still techically a Rolex. It was just made to be sold at a lower, more reasonable price point. Also there is no need to buy multiple watches before being allowed to buy a Tudor at any AD.

Iwc is a nice watch, but its such bad value for money, compared to the longines spirit, iwc basically uses the same base movement, isnt cosc, doenst have lumed numerals, has an aweful date window.

Hi, I’d like to clear up some misunderstanding here, when I said it’s rubbish I was referring to how many watch CZcamsr and person is calling the new Tudor BB58 GMT the best watch release of 2024 and how it’s a groundbreaking release of 2024. I was NOT referring to the Black Bay 58 GMT as rubbish. Sorry for the misunderstanding and I hope this clears it up!
