I found that the colors are softer, if that makes sense. It takes a little more to get intensity, but you can get a lovely glow easily.

I use Maldon Sea Salt flakes. They're larger and flatter than most types of salt, and I've had better luck with them than anything else I've tried.

@@PattyQSmith Salt absorbs some of the wet paint, so it creates that mottled texture by leaving lighter areas. You can use any salt, but the result is different according to the size of the grain, how much you use, and when you use it. I like flake salt because the timing isn't as critical. The grain of regular table salt is so small that if you sprinkle it on too soon their is still too much water, and the salt will just melt. Waiting too long with any salt won't give you texture because there isn't enough water left.

Unfortunately, I don't. You might check out Kremers, if you haven't already. I know they have a lot of pure pigments available.

@@1molossus I saw an old post of yours on doodlewash, thought you might know. Hard to find pure organic pigments affordably, either paying through the nose from a chemical supply place for milligrams or you have to get a lot.. if you can even get such at all become of supplier contracts and stuff, and often most art suppliers don't even know what the chemical is that makes the color. . if anyone else ever asks you though, BASF makes the same chemical under a different name for IR filters (this dye even though it looks black, is transparent in near infrared, like those windows on old tv remotes)

Never too late, and I use this paper a lot - it's one of my go-tos. The pages are bright white. I wouldn't describe them as creamy or yellow at all. The paper isn't too absorbent, color stays on top for a while. You do need to take some care not to smear fountain pen ink, but I don't find it stays wet excessively long. I draw with fountain pen ink rather than write with it, and that does make a little difference.

Thank you for your comment! I do speak rather than play music on occasion, but I'm not very good at it, so I prefer not to do so.

Both the masking tape and masking fluid came off easily with no damage and I was able to draw and paint over the area with no problem. Sorry, I forgot to add this to the video.

It's a Daler-Rowley Aquafine PY3. It's called Lemon Yellow, but also identified as an arylamide yellow.

Thank you! Yes and no. If the sides differ, you'll get different effects when you paint. I've found that the usual difference is simply in how much texture shows in the finished painting. But, if your technique calls for something like lots of granulation, one side might be better than the other. Or one side might keep the paint brighter than the other. With the Hahnemühle papers I've used, it has been the amount of texture showing.

Thank you, Santosh! Since it's an artificial color you can't mix it exactly, but if you mix 80/20 Cobalt Blue/Ultramarine Blue, you can come close to the YinMin color.
