Also, I noticed you pointed out on the little map as being right where Wrangell-St. Elias N.P. is, rather than Fairbanks. Also, just so people don't think that it's always cold in these cities, a few years ago, I was on a summer vacation which took me through SD, and it was hot enough that I needed to turn on the AC. Then, when I drove to AK back in '84, I visited Fairbanks, and it was actually quite a warm day. So, it's that the winter lows and the summer highs are separated by an insane number of degrees.

"Native" Coloradoans complain about all the people moving here from California. I personally don't, but I do REALLY wish that CO would provide some mandatory education on how to drive in the snow for those coming from warm weather states. It would be very beneficial for all and make for much safer winters.

In 1987 we were living in Buffalo NY. I went to the library and looked at Places Rated for that year and Raleigh was number one. We moved there and never looked back. Buffalo has ridiculously high taxes, high snow and people were leaving the area for better opportunities. Today in 2023, our kids and grandkids have great opportunities and they all love it here and it turned out to be the perfect retirement area for us.
