DVRR Layout Update 04-24-22
It's been a bit since my last video, but I wanted to give an update to what I have been doing with operations on the railroad. In this video, I provide a brief overview of my "paperless" switch lists by using JMRI Operations, the JMRI server and WiThrottle. I also demonstrate the WiThrottle for the iPhone/iPad. For Android users, there is also an app called Train Driver that does basically the same thing.

Happy New Year everyone! Wanted to kick off 2022 with a video of an unusual event here on the line. A detoured Amtrak train has made its way over the railroad due to a derailment on the tracks it normally serves. We catch the action over several locations, as well as an eastbound through manifest freight on a sunny Iowa morning!

It's been about a year since my last video and I figured it was high time to get one out...just didn't think it would be as long as it ended up to be! This is also breaking new ground for me in that I recoded it using my new iPhone, so I am trying to get used to editing with iMovie and have a ways to go in gaining knowledge of that program. I am open to other ideas/programs to edit .MOV files.....

That Beer Line layout is the absolute bomb! Many good memories of being at my grandmother’s house near the beer line as I grew up in the late 60s and early 70s watching train after train rumble by the crossing at Humboldt and Locust from the safety of the Gordon Park bridge which spanned the track. That layout would be my dream come true.😊
Interesting. My father-in-law just passed away a few weeks ago. He was one of the original engineers who was involved in the modernization of Traffic control systems in the "60"s for Multisonics. He eventually started his own business Dynamic Traffic Systems. I worked for him for 25 years. If you ever want some insider info i can share with you what he shared with me through the years. Especially how his small business saved billions for tax payers by forcing the average cost of a controller down from $2000 to about $1000.

My city still has the same old school buses from the late 1990's and these are still being used along with the strobe lights.

Featured in the 1967 film "Where Were You When the Lights Went Out?" about the 1965 NYC blackout, but to my knowledge never actually used on NYC streets. (Where, in that year, the Marbelite LPS-20 began appearing.)

That sign retracts nicely. My Town a contract with the new school bus company is there stop signs retract back very slowly compared to the last company that had the same model bus. What I see is the sign still out the bus is moving. It's almost like the one in the wind resistance to help put it back.

We had plenty of these in Rhode Island in the 1970’s,and they either had Crouse Hinds or LFE/Electromatic controllers.
