    Consider buying me a hooker instead!!!! It's a better deal too!! She could service more than one of us at a time, saving 3 minutes per "train"!! And we'd get much better mileage from a hooker than from a tire "cage". Just ask ur mom!! We ran a train on her every night for the last 2 weeks!!!! And she held up pretty damn good!!!!

    What’s even more dangerous then the sudden release of air when airing up a truck tire is the ring rims not used much today , thank goodness , they have been know to severe limbs and almost decapitate the poor soul airing up the tire , most accidents happen as a result of poor training , the tire companies pay very little and therefore get under qualified personal , for the most part it’s the tire changing company that is at fault , because they want profit more then safety , I’ve watched many of these young men risking their lives because their not properly trained , the employer should be held accountable in most cases

    Ive done commercial truck tires as one of the services we offered in our shop. No formal training just here do it. Finally bought a cage after numerous bad tires peop,e wanted patched we had one explode in cage and just the force of the explosion about took a bay door out. Cage went out into parking lot at same time. For all you newbies be careful and dont hurry. You are the most important part of any job and no dollar is worth your life. My Dad ran a tire shop for 30 years. During that time one of his guys lost two fingers when a truck tire exploded due to an improperly seated split rim. After that they always used a cage. They never had another split rim failure but did have a couple of tires explode. Thank goodness for the cage!

    Only tires with no holes will do that. Which means it’s obviously filled too much. Or else it would blow out at the hole

  • @forestpagan4813
    @forestpagan4813 Před 10 měsíci

    First three shots were split rim truck tires.. if the two pieces aren't locked together properly, yes they can easily take your life, thats why they're not even legal for highway use since at least 1980. A coworker of my father's got blasted through an overhead garage door by inflating an improperly assembled split rim truck tire. ALL modern commercial highway tires are now 1 piece rims and tubeless tires. So this would have to be limited to agriculture, and some specialty construction equipment.. yes ALL split type rims are extremely dangerous to mount and dismount

    • @johneckert1365
      @johneckert1365 Před 9 měsíci

      Your statement is completely false. There are NO split rims that are banned from highway use. There is one style of split rims that is illegal to "repair" but not illegal to use on thr highway. That means owners can run those tires out, but when they need to be replaced they will also have to replace the rims with the legal style rim. The illegal style split rim was made by Kelsey-Hayes and uses by many truck manufacturers, but mostly GM. Kelsey-Hayes rims split in the middle and were hard to verify that they were properly assembled. Normal split rims with 1 or 2 piece rings are still perfectly legal to use on the highway and repair. Check out the semi trailer chassis that haul shipping containers sometime. Most of those use split rims. The benefit there is that they use an inner tube so they're less likely to leak down and go flat while sitting in shipping yards long term.

    Everybody is talking about the dangers of split rims and that’s true they can be a real disaster. But the thing is normal car tires can also be a serious problem if they zipper. Friend who owned a garage has a bum arm for life due to a zipper failure of a car tire. Not a rim issue but the tire itself. This was a major brand tire and they paid out heavily. Cages are good for everything. Well worth the time for me. Use a remote fill also so you are away from it.

  • @SnowingNapalm
    @SnowingNapalm Před 10 měsíci

    or just a inflate on the table with a modular hinged saftey cage so you can do the work unimpeaded by time constraints and still maintain moderate level of saftey at least if paying attention and doing job right not just leaving it to go on a drug break Coffee/ciggarettes/alcohol/hard drugs like sugar 😂 ... but really ain't no reason to die or loose productivity you can automate your way out of it with pressure relief valves pressure switches and inspections of tire quality as well as pre stretching tire with fill empty fill empty fill hold pressure no leaks soapy water 🌊💦 test I'd have it all run through manifolds from central compressor as well as as multiple backup compressors but the saftey being manifold side though compressors come with their own saftey I'd have pressure gauges built into every outlet as well as attachment points at least 1 300/200psi pressure relief valve to rule them all though you could buy one for the specific tire pressure somewhere between 30 40 and 55 psi though many are different there are standards and install pairs as a failsafe with 1/4 turn off valves anywhere it could be useful to isolate system ... really biggest problem is jobstress exhaustion and therefore user error that isn't backed up by enough common sense to watch what they're doing depending only on a robot to do it for them though secondary robot saftey backups in addition to actual knowledge is a great combo

      If you are really concerned you can always side the tire under a vehicle. I'm 64 years old but when I was in my early twenties I was a tire man on the third shift in a major truckstop Pa. doing service calls on the turnpike all night and I'd slide the tire under the vehicle I was working on to inflate. That trick was taught too me by the guy that trained me to repair truck tires and it really does work. It makes the job harder and takes a little longer but what's a life worth... especially if it's your own. lol

    • @johneckert1365
      @johneckert1365 Před 9 měsíci

      Air pressure is way more dangerous than hydraulics. Air compresses and holds a large amount of stored energy. Fluids do not compress and cannot store energy. Yes, fluids can transfer energy, better that gasses (air), but they don't store energy. Stored energy is basically a bomb. Some hydraulic systems have accumulators, they are a storage device. Hydraulic pressure compresses a spring, or compresses gas chamber, so it can store some hydraulic pressure. An example is a hydraulic brake system in some tractors. With an accumulator, you still have a few emergency brake applications left if the engine happens to stall. The hydraulic oil is NOT storing the energy, the mechanical spring or compressed gas in the accumulator is storing the energy. The hydraulic oil only transfers that energy.
