Just dropped on your video mucka, great and very detailed review, im actively looking for a late 2017 - 2018 model 250slc amg spec one for the mrs now, iv been to see a few but i want full spec, airscarf, activated garmin sat nav, and the translucent glass panel in the hard top etc ! Iv been on pistonheads, cargurus, auto trader, mercland, e.bay, cinch, but hard to find what im looking for, which is fairly low mileage, not overpriced, as lots of them are on some of the car sites etc Il just keep looking, perseverance will pay off in the end

ive had my slk for 7 years now...i had a drain on the battery and it was fuse 37 or 35 its a 15amp one.....i just take that fuse out and put it back in when i use the car..it works for me
@@monkey555500 thanks for watching and that’s interesting to know. After much research I found out that the SLK had the incorrect battery. After fitting the correct capacity battery, I’ve not had any more issues. Hope this helps.

One other essential product is something to clean the wheels. I use Bilt-Hamber wheel cleaner which you spray on, leave for a few minutes and rinse off. If the wheels are particularly bad you can brush them before rinsing.

@@stevensfourwheels I think that's right re rarity, , possibly more common in the US. Having said that I have AC on my 85 380SL. .
@@kevinsheahan5449 I could imagine it being an option in Europe so potentially rare but common on US models. Unless early years had it as an option and it become standard on late model cars? Anyway I’m just purely speculating now. 😀
Thank you for sharing this. I'm almost buying a 2018 b250 and your video is very useful. Did you experience any maintenance that were out of the usual with this car? Is the maintenance expensive for this model?
@@RafaelCasagrandeav Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy your B Class. The only things that I’ve had is sensor issues. From memory I had a boost sensor fail, £140 for a replacement including diagnostics and fitting. I also had an issue with the accelerator sensor which turned out to be the connector which was cleaned out with an air line and I’ve never had any more issues. Hope this helps.

Well done on having a manual gearbox, there's 3 times more automatics about than manuals. Why have a automatic in a sports car, maybe the unfortunate one legged persons are weirdly attracted to Mercedes-Benz brand? Would do anything for a SLK but I think my spine issues will again stop my dreams! Great informative video 👍

Best spec silver with silver. 35k miles and you had to change the timing chain? Surprised me. What are key things to look for in the SLK200 R172 when buying one? Watched both of your vids on this car thanks for the info from both, such as the timing chain details you mentioned in this one

Steven. For the SL brakes and cutting out. Could possibly be related to the Overvoltage protection relay. Could be starting to break down internally, the solder does go bad eventually. The ABS is powered via the OVP as is the idle control module. When you get an unstable or high idle combined with an ABS light on, it is a good place to start. When you shut the doors, they are heavy enough to shake things up. Worth a look anyway. OVP is behind the glove box.

We have a SLK280 AMG with very solid suspension, thinking of B Class to go with it and would prefer the Sports for looks, but we're concerned that the suspension might just as solid...we've just sold an E350 estate which floated over everything and realise a B won't be the same, but wonder if the SE would be a safer bet. Or a Sports without run-flats? Any suggestions?
Well I think the B Class probably sit somewhere in the middle of your E Class and SLK. It won’t be as soft as the Class or handle as well as the SLK. The Sport model does have lowered sport suspension which the SE doesn’t. But I agree that the Sport model looks better and has better spec. Hope this helps!

Sadly not as I’m away. There are organising another Rustival at the end of September.
Why are they not appreciated? Well they rust badly if driven on salty roads. Some parts, critical ones, are NLA from Mercedes. Just adds to the challenge 😅

Thanks for watching. I’ve really enjoyed working and learning more about the SL. The air con doesn’t seem to be work and is on the to do list. The car is mostly original, it did have a respray around 10 years ago.

Had my SLK320 for 2 years. Been loving it right up to now as I have 'start error' on the dash and an engine that wont crank or turnover lol....immobilser I think

Does the radiator fan start up too even though the engine is cold? Had a similar issue with mine due to the common K40 relay problem. Easy and cheap fix if it's that.

I have owned my 97 R170 for over eighteen months now. I liked it then and like it even more now, especially as you don't see too many about these days. It is very much a 'feel good' car.

Got one a couple of months ago, paid £1k with a years MOT and apart from a little rust arohnd the wheel arches and a scruffy interior ita great. Hard to believe you can buy them for such little money
