This time, the video is more like interactive and engaging due to two characters. Beautiful video that helps me very much as my learning process is more supported with visuals than verbal communication.
Thanks. Learned in one pool session after watching this video. To anyone struggling, at around 1:50 you’ll see how the paddle’s shaft follows the decklines of the boat. Literally touch the paddle against the boat all the way. Got to crunch the abs a bit too. Very different to the standard Greenland roll, which can be a much slower movement. This one is swift! Best to start with those braces at 0:15 too. Learn without rolling first. Just watch out for your shoulders with this one.
This is the best rolligvideo EVER. It’s sooo indpiring.! Whenever I am stopping to Roll because something is difficult.. I just have to see this and I get the good rolling-spirit back on top.. I love it, keep on inspiring us, Eiichi.! Love from Denmark🩵💙🌊🐋
I agree. I fixated on this video until I finally programmed my brain to do the actual roll. And I still love to watch this video and such a cool roll to do.
I really like that. Seeing the „skeleton“ helps me visualizing the movement of every part of the body. E.g. to get a feeling where the movement starts if I have to bend or rotate first … Great
This summer I have been aspiring to nail the storm roll, except no matter what I tried I ended up with a mouthful of lake salad and unintentional sushi. I had watched multiple videos on the subject and it looked so easy. Then this, your super vid, popped into my feed, praise be to the Holy Algo, but mostly praise heaped upon youranimation. The axes of rotation bit, and most especially the martial art motion from the waist, would have elicited "Eureka" if I were paddlng Greek. Instead I yelled something unprintable like, " #8%3, that's it!" I have a reliable "sweep" roll that finishes aft of body vertical, but it relies on getting further back for everything to engage. The fanimation in free space, demonstrated the quicker propeller-like punch. At the end of my day, this visual buzzing in my head, I tossed the boat on the rack and headed to my favorite spot on the lake. Would you believe it, I nailed it in just three tries! The power of that propeller motion from the waist up - the same way I paddle, but just under the water. The hip snap get's me to 90 and that kung-kendo-karate move propells my 220 lb 6'2 into a forward-leaning finish. I whooped for joy, did a little jig on the shore, and the lake trout gave me a thumbs up. I thank you for your effort, Mr. Ito. It is also a valuable recognition for me of the power of animation for instruction. If you have a moment, could you tell me what software you used? Peace.
Thank you for your impression. I'm so honored. Actually, I usually use a software developed in Holland called "Blender". ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blender Please send your storm roll video to me, if you can. I would like to upload it to my website. www.storm-on.com/ Thanks!
Wow!!! Amazing, Master Eiichi! Great people and a great place to learn and share knowledge in a funny way!!! I'm crazy to visit and take part of this! 😊❤🛶🥢🍜🍻🧉
Well done film of the Aleutian kayak
Thank you!
Eiichi's videos were mission critical for learning the storm roll on my own. Many thanks.
Thank you for your warm words. I'm honored. 😊
Wow, that is smooooth
Is it possible with flat paddle?
What do you mean? Greenland paddles are almost flat. If you meaned that about an European paddle, I will to say "Yes".
놀랍습니다. 이번주말에 시도 해봐야겠습니다.
Good, good!
nice.. this one is easier and with the lower right arm it's safer for the right shoulder than the previous post which was above the shoulder

Wow! Wow!! Wow!!! Super nice! Super cool!!! Super detailed! Amazing job, thanks for spreading the message, Master Eiichi!!! 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Amazing! one more thumb up too!
Question: What are skin on frame kayaks made from today?
Most of the time nylon but canvas or pvc is possible a well.
Please tell a little about Nook!
Thank you. Among the many folding kayaks out there, I think it has potential quite similar to the Greenland kayak.
Wooooooow!!! Super, Master Eiichi!!! 😊😊😊

To me, this is just a normal screw roll. What makes it a storm roll?
Não canso de assistir.
Muito obrigado. Para mim, é uma grande honra. Isso me encoraja. Por favor, aguarde meu próximo trabalho.😀
I tried and tried and tried, with lessons and I just can't do it. And have to wet exit everytime. 😢
Do not give up! It took me a very long time to learn this too. If you keep practicing, you will definitely see the light someday.
