These are my thoughts on retiring and having the right mindset living in Thailand. Thailand is an amazing country, for me it’s the weather, culture, beaches, people and cost of living.

Well that was a waste of time.
Big elephant
Its probably the cheapest option that has access to a pool. Can get for 3.5 m without a pool.
Great video of a car park.
thank you john
That restaurant at the back is nice the food is nice I stayed here free years ago you do get a lot of noise there but the bigger building is better
I have few thai friends live there. I usually go there to drinks with friends. Pretty decent place.
Didn’t know about that restaurant in the back. Thanks for the tip
your welcome
I sympathise with you mate, I hate the return trip, its getting close to 30 times now for me, but there is a great opportunity for work in Melbourne at the moment, my advice would be get your self a white card, you can do it online and its a good step into the construction industry which is booming, before to long your hopefully booking a one way ticket back to LOS 😁
Thanks Mark, I did ask my friend at MC Labour but there are 30k of staff, advised me to remain in sales, I might come back sooner if I can’t secure work by end June
The tag for this should be #Elephant #Thailand. Which city is this?
udon thani
Bro, Please turn on your English subtitles. Some people like watching videos with subtitles on.
Move to Phuket or Pattaya if you want to live around a lot of Expats. I prefer not being around a lot of expats.
It's definitely different for everyone there isn't one glove fits all, it depends on have you got a gf have you got a good social circle do you play sports can you do some work the list is endless, you have touched on the basics and given great advice by saying living here is completly different to a holiday and by moving about the country to find out where you want to put down sticks
Thanks mate, I’m trying to give my perspective & experience, finding hobbies is something I need to work on also good friends
ผมคนไทย ไม่ชอบการกระทำแบบนี่ 🇹🇭😢
😢
We go there a lot. I've tried much of the food. My favorite is the fried chicken wings. The One in UD Town is a good spot to stop for a beer.
will try the chicken wings, thank you

Great video, thanks for your input. 🙏
thank you
For me I found getting involved with CZcams, I'm not a content provider but by joining the conversation I began to form friendships and meet many people, they have stayed in my house and I've stayed at their homes in Thailand, building friendships takes time, I returned to work in Australia nearly 2 years ago, but I'm back here every 2 months for a month at a time and make sure I continue to put the effort into those friendships when here
I agree and do join discussions on others YT. I am documenting my journey, also like to provide my perspective on life in Thai, I have been coming to this country since 2001, forming friendships built on trust for me has been challenging but not impossible.
Please improve your description. Please post google maps showing the areas you are talking about.
Not sure the area you were staying is..
Was staying in Pattaya now I moved up northern Thailand
@@okbilly1 ok Thanks for reply..
🎉😢
Hello I am in soi 1 haha 🤣
Very good
Wno gives a shite how it's pronounced be respectful
There is no city in Thailand called "Pu-TIE-uh". If you want to be taken seriously, learn how to pronounce it.
U must be a BRIT ..with ya patti ja...think PAR TAY JA as the Thai pronounce it dipshit !
Round trip ticket from BKK to SGN is sub-$100 if booked weeks in advance. Americans need visa to get into Vietnam though so not sure about Aussies
In contrast, to their counterparts up in isaan-pat expats generally have a chip on their shoulders.
I plan to go to udon Thani next month
@okbilly1 Soi Samphanthamit is the place to be in udon. You have the night & day complex of about 20 open air bars then there's nutty park around the corner with more open air bars. I generally stay at the Top Hostel on soi Samphanthamit but there's a few good hotels to stay. Enjoy your time.
@@pandemicoftheunvaccinated5367 thank you so much
FARANG in Thai means GUAVA, like the fruit. It is used colloquially in Thai to mean a WHITE FOREIGNER because the flesh of a guava is white.
I have heard it is also a Thai word that sounds similar to 'French'.
@@timmyg44 - Heard that too but the French never colonized or had much of an influence on Thai culture.
@@kevinp8108 Kind of. Thailand didn't exist in 1900, just Siam, which included Laos, which was annexed by the French with the rest taking the name Thailand as late as 1940. If you look at what the French and the British did not colonize, you're left with Thailand, with the two colonizing powers agreeing not share a common border to avoid military conflicts. Thais, however, will tell you all kinds of myths and nonsense.
Ah... heard that term kicked around for years without anyone seeming to know it's origins. Thanks for posting this
Thanks for your insight Billy! Was the heat difficult to get used too? I've heard over and over that the hot weather is hard to adjust too. I'm imagining weather like Hawaii if you've been. Is it hotter and more humid than Hawaii? Thanks!
It takes time to adjust to the heat, for me took 3 months, I do my long walks before 10am or after 5pm
Curious about your comment to be careful of other farang ("foreign"ers).. any specific advice you'd offer on that front, what details to keep particularly private, and apart from the obvious, why?
From my experience they can take up a lot of your energy, expressing their problems, just make sure it’s a give & take mate ship, you normally get a sense which people are authentic
@@okbilly1 thank you for taking the time to reply so thoughtfully.. understood. At first, I thought it might be related to issues of financial or physical safety,.. but yes, emotional leeches are a danger when you're vulnerable away from a support network!
Hi billy , what insurance company do you use please, I'm in aus
Im from Melbourne, I use insure and go.
Is there a 25m or 50m pool in Pattaya with lane ropes where u can do some proper laps?
Sorry I have not seen this, I mainly used hotel pools

Hi ! Billy... Good day! Just wanna ask from north pattay Bus terminal going to beach road, by bath bus how much d fee ..? Thanks !
Not sure I have not taken a baht bus in this direction, I would estimate 10b, sorry
10 Baht
Nice meeting you today
Likewise, appreciate your time & good to meet in person.
Hey billy , great videos mate, from sydney myself planning on retirering in pattaya in may next year .never been. Any tips
Thanks mate, I had been to Thailand 6 times prior, i recommend allocating a trial period of 6 months here, explore which cities suit you, organise a visa from Sydney thai consulate, allocate a budget living here, bring more summer clothes, network & find like minded friends.
@@okbilly1 doing the visa there...non O
good one, i may do this next year@@petepana1140

Nice long vlog wow !
thankyou
Like the videos mate, am thinking myself of moving there in the next year or so. But yeah, am also asking myself about what to do with my time day by day there. Anyway keep going with the vlogs and just a tip, rinse your mouth with bottled water when brushing your teeth. That has worked for me before.
thank you for your kind words & do wish you success with your future plans, will follow with the bottled water/cleaning teeth, challenge I found it is more difficult to meet good expats, therefore spend more time alone
The best ice cream❤
How much was the chicken? It looked good.
sorry I didn't pay attention, but I have seen similar chickens for 200b, not cheap
Although this clip doesn't have much going on, you've got your face framing proportions right and your talking your Blog. Vlogs are people telling stories and people connect to people they see and relate too.
you're a legend
Good panning speed and steady camera. This will work well 👍
thanks mate
