    Similar multi curve block on utube is "blue onion" videos. more complicated to cut with special ruler, and lots of curves too. More blocks from one stack, but I think this one is prettier. Another commenter mentioned using scraps for less waste. Good idea. Worth making )))

    • @karen.eckmeier
      @karen.eckmeier Před 3 měsíci

      Thank you! I agree that this is a great project for scraps. Save the "wasted" fabric (aka the trimmed fabric from the back) for collage projects, then it is put to good use :)

    I still don’t care for the mesh overlay, there must be a different way to quilt this

    • @karen.eckmeier
      @karen.eckmeier Před 5 měsíci

      It's the best solution since the fabrics are so tiny that if you quilt on them they fray so much that they kind of disintegrate. Another option you may prefer is to use a paper backed fusible to stabilize your fabrics and hence the edges, then you don't have to use the tulle (fine netting....not mesh). The result is a flatter look and a little harder to quilt through, but many have been happy with this approach. They key is to have fun!

    • @karen.eckmeier
      @karen.eckmeier Před 6 měsíci

      I quilt only on a stationary home machine so don't know how it reacts to a long arm. What do you mean about a large X pattern??

    • @fredrika27
      @fredrika27 Před 6 měsíci

      @karen.eckmeier Thank you for answering me so. quickly. I really appreciate it. You sewed your quilt top on the diagonal, making an x design! What I wanted to do is sew roses into the quilt I made using free motion or the long arm.

    • @karen.eckmeier

      Consider the fabric as "not wasted" but rather as a base to create those tiny little shapes, which would otherwise have been very hard to deal with! 🙂
