    Good explanation - helpful to me learning top-spin for the first time and returning to tennis after decades away. I guess playing with an oversized racquet of 115-inch dimension with a 16x19 pattern will give even more spin and arc than smaller-sized racquets.

    So in 10 years of playing with the same secondhand op shop tennis racquet up to five times a week, a string broke and I played the set out and then another (and won both) with that one broken string. Dreading the restringing as I love the feel of my racquet to the point when I mistakenly thought my car had been stolen, my first thought was "Oh no! Not my tennis racquet!" as it was in the boot of the car. LOL So I am a fan of the idea of waiting until the string breaks. Must have had the Kevlar strings on my racquet. Guess I will find out very soon. I will definitely be replacing like for like. :)

    I string Kev/4g at 86lbs. I prestretch pulling on one end of the string till it elongates. The around the poll method pulling on both ends just removes coil memory and will not elongate the string Racquets are way tougher than the recommended tension range and yeah you probably void the warranty, but I have never had any frame breakage and have been stringing at 86lbs for almost a decade. Good vid

  • @kkarx
    @kkarx Před 2 měsíci

    Oh, so it is very simple. The more weight you put to head the more swing weight (power) you will get but it might feel unnatural like a hammer. It can be balanced by adding more weight closer to the handle but then the racket might be too heavy for you. So basically if you want a big swingweight then it has to be either a very heavy more balanced racket or a very unbalanced lighter racket.

    Tecnifibre Triax is also a nice multifilament string but I have only used it in one racquet so far. As a hybrid in the mains (crosses Velocity MLT), so I can't say too much about it yet. Just first impressions. Nice hybrid setup ,though. Recommended!

  • @WaltKurtz68
    @WaltKurtz68 Před 2 měsíci

    Strangely enough Velocity MLT does not fray (at least it doesn't in MY racquets) but it turns white after a while, starting at the intersections. Maybe that's Velocity MLT's visual sign it should be replaced? I must say even then the playing characteristics don't deteriorate that much.

    Given that you need a machine to test sw, if you have typical racquets with weight and balance equal, how much could the sw differ? Not talking theory where the polarization could be radically different but with typical modern models. Thanks.
