This channel is about one thing: Greyhound training.
I have recently started agility training with my greyhound and am documenting the process. Let's see where it leads us. I hope to the Australian Agility Championships :)

Greyhound in Dog School

Greyhounds can sit! Sissy loves dog school. She has a brilliant recall, heels, sits and drops nicely on command. Thanks K9 Company in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia!
Teach a greyhound to spin
zhlédnutí 689Před 9 lety
I am teaching Sissy to spin/rotate to increase her awareness of her hind legs. This will be necessary to get the perfect 'return to heel' at one point . We are not quite there yet and this excercise is actually quite advanced, so it will probably take a greyhound several weeks/months to get this.
Teach a greyhound to walk backwards
zhlédnutí 294Před 9 lety
Sissy is learning to walk backwards. Here is (in my opinion) the best method to teach a dog that understands the clicker to walk backwards: 1) Get two chairs and lure the dog between the two chairs facing you; 2) throw a low value treat (e.g. kibble) behind the dog 3) click and treat a high value treat as the dog walks backwards to get the treat; 4) repeat

😅Doing a full body shake whilst still submerged belly deep in the water lol
Greyhound? Or...very slender Labrador Retriever?

I don't know where this is, but I want to go there and I want to stay forever.😍
Aww look at her showing the others how it's done! You dont see greyhounds swimming often. (Mine has no interest!) I think it's because they don't have the body fat to help float or wide feet to paddle?? So they really need to know how to swim. Bravo sweet doggy 👏
Other greyhounds....'Hey Trixie! Teach us to swim. Oh pretty pleeeeaaasssse! '
Looks like they had a good time . Thanks for sharing
…what joy…
Thankyou so much for posting this! My girl was adopted this week. Some disgusting human dumped her like trash in bushland. She was so shy, reserved but allowed us to touch her at the RSPCA. After visiting her we decided to adopt her. She waited at the gate non stop until we took her home. She was mildly sedated due to the trauma & kennel only life but in less than 48hrs at our home she has just blossomed. Zoomies just started so I think we're doing the right things to help her recover and it brings a tear to my eyes seeing the transformation. Any tips are welcome. She now knows we are her forever family and started teeth chsttering today with lots of tail wagging! I hope she will look like your grey soon!!
Lovely video. We now have Darcey, our fifth greyhound, to keep us busy ! They are very special dogs that need a lot of love and understanding, just as Sissy gets. Well done you. Chris
Cani meravigliosi devono correrei per divertirsi non essere sfruttati
So cute great swimmers with their long legs ❤
I'm shocked at her stamina. Whenever we take our greyhound to the dog park to run around, he spends the rest of the day sleeping (usually on one of our beds). We couldn't get him to run around again if we tried.
It's such a shame that most people now (in my country) will never be able to afford a yard this size. I love seeing a grey play off leash.
Just adopted an ex racing greyhound today. She's utterly adorable. Such wonderful dogs
Pure unadulterated joy
I’m glad your dog is having a good time in your yard. Many people here are fed propaganda about racing life being so dystopian. There have been many reforms in racing and owners, trainers have happily complied. But the thank you still seems to be to put them out of business, make the breed an unaffordable show breed for most people, or worse, non-existent.
Awesom
HOWWWW
There are two breeds of dog that generally don't like water. Huskies and Greyhounds. Greyhounds look so miserable but adorable!
Ha ha, crazy Sissy!!!! She is so fast and her zoomies are so cute 🤗 I really loved the message at the beginning of the video. I think people should change, regardless of what the government decides. It's hurting to think of the dogs that are used as bait or something to bet on. Thanks for the video and spreading kindness by adopting Sissy and sharing this beautiful video!
Love how she buries her toys in her bed
Giggle
Giggle you can tell when he's had enough
Lovely.
I just lost my rescue saluki x greyhound to a seizure, its taken me over a year to overcome depression from her dying in my arms, happened out of the blue at 5am she woke up and yelped and died within 5 secs, which iam glad she didn't suffer
What is the song
Song name pls
Basta con queste pagliacciate... Rispettate la dignità dei cani
our grey girl looks very put out whenever she gets into water that she has to swim out of
Your Sissy is so beautiful! I love all about Greys, their way to run, eat, play, walk, everything!!
Happy noodle!
ooh I need me some of those frisbees
Great pet owner 👍 in action. Absolutely loved it. I laughed watching the zoomies and Frisbee catches 🤣.
Beautiful xxxx

Outstanding! My boy MACHO acts the same way. Thank you and may you live for a thousand years!
Ziva is my spirit animal
Years ago my aunt paid £850 for a snappy poodle that bit me twice, more recently I gave a home to a retired greyhound bitch for a £10 donation she turned to be a fantastic pet, forget about small designer breeds and get a retired greyhound, you won't regret it..
Hi furiendz! 👋 You galz swimz just likez I doez! 😄 Big tail wagz! ~ Xander Greyhound 🐾
Beautiful dog. I hope u still have her and shes doing good
Ha ha! Beautiful dog. Life affirming, thank you.
Aww. I find these lovie dogs don’t need much encouragement 🐶❤️🐶❤️🐶❤️🐶
Greyhounds are sweet, affectionate, and gentle creatures. They deserve a spoiled life as beloved pets, not as machines on the racing track. Good luck on banning hound racing in Australia, we've had some successes in several American cities & states banning this barbaric practice.
Love the white tips on her paws, and especially on the tip of her tail. SO CUTE. I had a greyhound and my yard was similar in size. Hated to Sugar basically just run in circles and tight figure-8's. Had to take her out to this one park that had a fenced soccer field, I'd turn her loose to run long.
Bet she loved that, John. A greyhound running through a field is a stunning sight, isn't it?
Thanks for giving her a good home. Love to see the happy pups!!
A few states in the USA still allow Greyhound racing. My family and I have adopted 4 from the racing track. They're the best pets anyone could ask for (smart little buggers to). Racing is OK as long as the proper regulations and oversight are enforced. The closing of tracks actually means that breeding will be unregulated and our beloved Greyhounds will end up, after a few generations, looking like...well, inbred monsters to fit the aesthetic of the buyers. They are a breed from ancient Egypt, bred to chase down and dig out desert varmint. Racing actually helps these beauties do what they were bred to do thousands of years ago. However when it's time for them to take it easy, that is when we come in, give them homes and love and a lot of food! Spoil them rotten!
She's as cute as a button and such fun! That first image of her could have been a picture of our latest boy. He's also a brownish-blue with floppy ears. And he's the only hound out of the numerous ones we've had who actively plays with toys like that. Grey-blues have one ambition in retirement - how to eat and sleep at the same time! We have the same off-the-lead rule about being muzzled as you have. But the majority of trainers here haven't live-trained for years. They usually use a neon-coloured toy because that's what they chase at the track (also coursing has been banned as long as fox hunting, so it's only the poachers and their ilk who continue to do it, and stopping them isn't easy, though efforts are made). It used to happen when we first started rescuing - so did cutting off a retired hound's ears so they couldn't be traced. Thanks to whoever invented microchipping because each pup has both forms of ID now. It's a *lot* better in the UK than it used to be. Still a way to go to make it perfect (I have no problems with them racing, they love it. And I could tell you stories about hounds who raced and decided to retire themselves lol. You can't force them to go shooting out of the traps. Besides, running is what they love!) but there was a *massive* effort at the end of the 20th century to improve matters here and things did improve hugely. Just goes to show that changes can be made. If things haven't yet changed in your country, good luck!
So much fun
Just got mine. She's really nervous, but day by day is getting better. I'm hoping to see her play with toys and run at some point.
