Watching this clip from the USA. I understand the content of this clip, but I just need to say that I really appreciate the way BBC transitioned their interruption, how they used just a fading transition. No dramatic music, no beep beep beep countdown bullsht, just keeping it cool and calm even if the news is really sad or urgent. If only our news stations in the US could use this. This is enough to get my attention, just a nice easy “fade out, fade in” transition.

It's spooky that Lowe died only a few hours after making this appearance.

The view out of the window was in so many programmes. Pebble mill closed in 2004 due to lease issues and because some of the building was impac5ed by concrete cancer. Great to see this interview.

When tv was great no woke actors or Presenters there was a big axe fell on all our favourite shows and characters. 30 years from now Dads Army and other shows will still be talked about the reality shows and garbage on Tv now will quite rightly be forgotten.

This is when Britain people had manners and politeness not like today people don't give a toss about people's feelings life in Britain is dangerous due to nasty foreign people none of them are friendly

Loved Dads Army. I was 8 in 1968. Watched it at our nanny’s house. Still watch it now whether I search for it or it’s shown on BBC 2. My daughter loves these old comedies too. She serves in the military so loves it even more. God Bless Arthur.

He was excellent at non-verbal gestures not to mention a very good actor in my view. Dad’s Army is still incredibly funny. A team so fortunate to come together.

As I understand it, he collapsed at 6pm that same day (14th April 1982) and died at around 2am the next morning, so this interview really was his last recorded or public performance. A great actor who many of us will fondly remember.

Arthur was a brilliant comic actor and mastered the facial expressions that facilitate that art. If that’s him at 66 he was old before his time and it is sad we didn’t get much more from him. Even now he makes me laugh uncontrollably with his pompous Mainwaring role. Rest in Peace and thank you Arthur
