This is another image from my many visits to Sonoma Regional Park, near Glen Ellen. This was an early morning as the fog lifted from the lake. Named "Sisters" because these two trees were the only solitary group, which reminded me of what two sisters may encounter on their first day at a new school, standing together on the playground. This is one of my favorite, simple images. I overlooked printing it for years due to how plain it appeared on my monitor. A closer look showed that it was a wonderland. This stand of Birch is along the Usal Creek, near the Usal Campground / Beach. They stand at the base of a steep mountain and so at the right time, the sun shone through the birch but left the background in shadows. Captured on 4"x5" film.
Lost Coast Bridge on Usal Raod

It was a rainy afternoon along the dirt road called Usal Rd that runs north to south along the Lost Coast. When I've visited in the Fall and Winter months, I often don't see another soul - even having the ocean-side campground to myself. Captured on 4"x5" film.
Bivens Lake, Gainesville, Florida

While commissioned to shoot my client's swampland near Gainesville, I stayed at their condo on Bivens Lake. Here I'd often spend those hot July afternoons waiting for the frequent thunderstorms to come through, drop buckets of rain, and leave the place cooler and with great billowy clouds. This was my first shoot since switching from a 4x5 to an 8x10 film camera after losing my home to fire only a few months earlier. I couldn't help but see the sun and clouds like the head and body of the phoenix rising from the ashes. West Sonoma County, 2016.

This is a property managed by Sonoma Land Trust, along the Sonoma Coastline in California. Shot on Fuji Velvia, 50asa, 4x5 film back in 2010. This is one of the pieces I have in inventory since selling my home and going on hiatus for the last few years.
