this episode was one of the best
Judge me, but Shane was the most sensible person there. Rick was trying to protect Herschel’s beliefs about the Walkers. Everybody there crucified Shane during the whole season 2 (except Andrea) , Rick and Shane had different perspectives, but I believe if Shane was still alive on the following seasons, specially season 4, 5 and 6, they would be the best team ever. But the creators decided to kill Shane instead. And judge me one more time, I liked Shane a lot. He was misunderstood. His blood was usually boiling because he could see the worlds and its chaos while the others not… And I add this: Rick became more like Shane on the following seasons 😅

Shane's sentence about how he's glad that Rick took a page out of his book and stepped up may confirm the idea when Jon said in the interview that Shane wanted Rick to kill him because he was insane and couldn't lead the group and he wanted Rick to be able to make the tough calls and to do that he made Rick make the tough call and kill him
It’s true in fact the plan for Shane’s death was originally to have his gun unloaded, Rick would then realize this after he killed Shane proving what u just said even more; obviously they decided to not do that but it’s sad that they even thought about it Rick in season 1-2 wanted to bury every dead walker and person that they killed because he felt bad, but yet Rick couldn’t even bury his own best friend 😢
