I lived on E. Walnut St. until I was 5, moved to Washington Ave. for a year, then my family moved to Vernon, but Oneida will always be my hometown. Had all my young birthday parties at the original Pepi's Pizza and Arcade until about 11 yrs old, rented movies and games at the Blockbuster, shopped at Tops and Price Chopper, I worked at the original Wendy's store with the glass front room, at the original Herb Phillipson's store across from the Oneida Municipal Building and at Wilbur-Duck Chevrolet. I still have family in Oneida today. I miss the people, but many of the staples of my childhood in the City are long since gone. The Awesome Fun-N-Skate was a great place to go during middle school for their dance night. My dad managed the original building Mind Games was in, I'm sure Mind Games has finally gone out of business as well, they changed storefronts in the downtown area at least 3 or 4 times. The original movie theater in the old Ames Plaza, the MoviPlex Cinemas... The MoviPlex is probably the only thing left I listed still in existence in that city. It's just sad to see the decline of my home.

I live in horseheads I love living here but sadly the cost of living and how bad Elmira ny gotten it want me think of moving. I just wish there was more to do around here but sadly not. Other thing did you go to Watkins glen that great place to look at it if you didn’t thinking coming back down.

That impressive, castle-like building that caught your eye ... that's the old Masonic Temple, built in 1914. The size and quality construction of the place is a testament to just how much wealth there once was in Little Falls.

That is my hometown! I do not know about the new ice cream place there you went to. I hope it was good. The one they did have had to shut down eventually as a family business modern market now that’s a store. Fillmore Glenn State Park swimming in the freezing cold Glenn in summer with friends and hanging out by that waterfall fun times. Hope you got to visit worth. They actually had two pizza shops for a long time, but it couldn’t compete with New York, which was the original one there before the second one came along in the mid 90s. And we never had a dollar store till recently lol that’s new and it was a big big deal when Kenny drug came to town. I remember when they were building it in the Mid90s. Best thing that ever happened I know I know, but what do you want? You didn’t even see the countryside, gorgeous Intro. The last time I heard about crime was a robbery at someone’s house in town when I was a teenager. Other than that not much only a few things have changed businesses I mean in that town since I left in 2010 Hope you had fun. There is fair that comes to town in the summer. It’s the best thing and the fireworks

It's sad. In the 80's and 90's the Utica/Rome area was a wonderful place to live. When Griffiss left they took a lot of business with them, took a lot of jobs with them and left the area in total disarray.

Dude... you seem impressed by a festival - the same kind you see in any same-size city or in any state, instead of looking at the city. You walked right past The Clinton House - hugely historical. Also you missed the DeWitt building - used to be one of the two Jr Highs in the city... now a mall housing artsy shops. Is famous Moosewood restaurant still there in DeWitt mall? Totally missed Stewart Park. How about the historical Purity Ice Cream that probably employed Ithaca's high school students since it was founded. There's The Station Restaurant, also historical where train cars were converted to dining rooms. How about that Ithaca was originally the "Hollywood" film capital during the silent film era (see its museum). The waterfalls.... original Tarzan movies were filmed there!! Sailboat races up Cayuga Lake in summer. The Cornell crew races up the canal. Soooo much missed.

Where the bridal store is, where the tattoo shop is, that intersection is called the Four Corners. Over the decades, the stores have changed from one type to another. I grew up three miles from the village, attending Baldwinsville schools (Baldwinsville Academy and Central Schools) from kindergarten through 12th grade. As a matter of fact this year (2024) is my 50th high school reunion! I've seen the village and the surrounding areas change and change and change over the years, yet some things remain the same. Baldwinsville was founded in 1794. Yeah, just 18 years after 1776.

I LOVE driving with beautiful scenery. California is great for that also. Especially highway 1 down the coast. I’ve taken it from north all the way south. So beautiful.

EaTO, thank you for the tour of Tamarack,I was lucky enough to work there for more than two years. When we opened the entire sales area was jammed with all things West Virginia made,too much was just enough. One thing I did notice as you made your way around the circle was the large wooden train filled with marbles priced at 6 cents each, in 1997 they were priced at 5 cents! The building is unique for sure, as was the concept, it was the first retail arts and crafts center to feature only items made by in state residents. As we were mostly tourist driven (95%) tourist 5% local residents, I can’t imagine how devastating the Covid 19 pandemic must have been for them. Many of the artisans derived their entire income from Tamarack and I remember them as wonderful truly gifted people. I’m so glad I found your family visit on CZcams. Safe travels always,Bobbie
