Very impressive program go get to run so smoothly on an ESP32, if that is what the microcontroller is. Are the sand specs still dynamic and movable once they settle or do they become completely static? Performance would surely be a lot worse if you refreshed every spec, every single frame. I have a similar project of my own. It's a sort of water simulator and there is a fixed number of particles (pixels) of water at all times. It was quite challenging to optimize since every single pixel is refreshed and calculated once every frame. The biggest limitation is due to RAM, but I got it working nonetheless. Becomes quite laggy if I put more than 2000 particles. Simulating physics on an arduino is not easy, props to you and anyone who knows the struggle.
Thanks a bunch for your kind words! Your project sounds pretty awesome👍! I've been tinkering with different microcontrollers, so I totally get where you're coming from. As for my falling sand demo, currently, once the sand particles settle, they stay static. But the idea of upgrading them to dynamic ones is quite appealing. About the microcontroller, I'm using my board called SwiftIO Micro, powered by the NXP RT1062. It simplifies my coding process a lot.
