Yes we get a bit delulu in the forums and online fandom spaces, but in reality, we know that it'll happen when it happens, and when it drops it'll be fire, and we'll love it. She was already using country influences in previous albums and some of those songs divided some fans, so she would've known that 'Lasso' could've gone either way. But the sudden explosion of other artists making country albums kind of takes away any of the newness or interest in her releasing album like that. (Although Beyonce's 'Cowboy Carter' wasn't just hideous, it also proved that despite her wanting to show the industry that SHE could 'do country' too, she didn't actually understand that country and western really are two separate genres that intersect, but have different vibes. Bey just looked petulant and like she was high on her own supply, believing that if she released an album with Dolly and Miley on it, she could just call it country and everyone would do their usual thing of pouring accolades on her. But Beyonce's album wasn't country. She had no business trying to tell people that it was. It was faux southern-country mixed with western and a bunch of gospel, soul and folk running through it. It's not just that Lana could be rethinking the country style because it might look a bit like she's jumping on a bandwagon (when she's known for going against the grain and making her kind of own sound ever since Video Games dropped) but she also might not want the kind of comments from people who are immersed in the country genre to come for her and tell her that she also wasn't making a country album, after Beyonce's mess of an offering. My guess is she's rethinking the idea of a 'Country Album' and is going to tinker with a bunch of other stuff she will also have inevitably been working on, and rethink the overall direction of the album. It'll probably have some 'country influences' and to call it _that_ is far less insulting to country artists and fans than claiming it to be an outright 'country album'. 'Great American Songbook' tracks or songs that have a similar sound, will always work well with Lana's lower register and old Hollywood vintage vibes/influences. No one else is really doing that right now (think of 'Million Dollar Man' sounding tracks...that's how she'd do GAS style tracks) so it would stand out and not sound like she was following a trend. OR (and if you've followed Lana for any amount of time, you'll know this) she could just be using that moment to state that she's doing something that she isn't, a/ to see how the response to that announcement goes or b/ to throw other artists off the scent, so if they want to steal her thunder and get in there first with that kind of album, she won't be putting hers out in the shadow of any of those. There's always the possibility that the entire Lasso/country thing was a bit of an attempt to send other people in the wrong direction to begin with. If you've spent any time in fandom areas, you'll have seen a lot of people dreading the possibility of her doing a country album - every time a new release is on the horizon - for years! Some fans have gone apeshit over the idea that she was going to make any country tracks at all. Her announcing Lasso could've been a troll moment, or may her testing the waters to see what the response would be. Back in the 'Blue Banisters' era, some people were not reacting well to mentions of Arkansans, Oklahoma, or lyrics like "Put your red boots on, baby, giddy up". Yes, just that was enough to make some people freak out about a potential 'country' era, lol. When in reality, BB was more like a dumping ground of stuff she wasn't sure what to do with anywhere else, so she just pushed it out and waited to see what would land well and what wouldn't. 'If You Lie Down, Lie Next To Me' is probably one of my favourite songs on BB (and the outtro of that song has a lot of 1920s style instrumentals going on, which could be an indication of her going in a 'Great American Songbook' direction in her own way), but then I also thought that 'Dealer' was brilliant and that was just an old rescue from a collab project with The Last Shadow Puppets that ended up not happening. All this to say, expect nothing. Do not even dare to believe than anything is coming (let alone that you will have any idea how it's going to sound like even it it does appear). Enjoy the crazy speculation, have fun guessing, then if something does drop try not to be too annoyed by the one thing we can probably guarantee: That Jack Antonoff will be all over the damn thing...no matter how much the fans want to see more from Rick Nowels or Emile Haynie.

I like Yes And? the Remix and Boy is Mine the Remix more than the original. I think she did a good job on making a cohesive album and I think it's interesting how she keeps going in and out of different tones and vocals, but I guess.....I think Eternal Sunshine is a good album, not her best album because Sweetener and TU, N exists, but I think Eternal Sunshine is better than Positions although I think she held back on alot of her vocals on Eternal Sunshine. I am interested to see where she goes in her future because she wants to act and be on broadway, I think she will release less albums and focus more on everything else.
