technically putting ur left foot on the board and pushing with the right makes more sense for someone who is right footed because you feel like the ground is more stable than the board and everytime u push you feel the ground with ur foot sort of like a reminder that "ah ok if anything goes wrong i have my dominant foot on a stable surface" thats what i think at least :D im also learning

Maybe try putting on knee, hand, and elbow protection, appropriate for skating. That might make you more comfortable with skating outside.

The way I got comfortable on a board was by cruising and skating around instead of trying to do tricks. Improving your balance will take time but it will make everything easier.
