I did a quick skim of the references he used in his book “God is not great” and I only saw 2 islamic “sources” ,Ziauddin Sardar and Zafar Abbas Malik, there (correct me if im wrong it was a quick skim).I say “sources” because these guys aren’t well-respected sheikhs or scholars lol. Ziauddin is not a well respected sheikh or scholar. Never heard of this guy in my studies. Zafar is a journalist. Doesn’t prove anything. These aren’t not well-respected sheikhs or any person of knowledge. Learning Islam is like a science. You have to know where you get your information from and if the source is reliable. Lots of misinterpretations. The Quran on its own is perfect. Hadiths which are considered “sahih” or authentic we follow. One can understand them on their own but for proper understanding one needs someone of greater knowledge or understanding of the text to explain to them of HOW it should be interpreted based on the source text. All of this took like 15 minutes man. If Christopher Hitchens was some bum on the street you may not even have known he had existed, let alone listen and believe in what he preaches as the truth, which simply isnt. Why post a video about a guy you know nothing about? Sounds like worship to me. We know the life of the prophet (saws) and the man that he was based on the hadith. That’s why we follow him. It seems like your view of the religious comes from a christian point of view. Christianity is definitely false. That’s why I’m a Muslim. We don’t base our beliefs on blind faith. The knowledge is free to all.

If he was a random homeless person making good sense I'd listen, regardless of his homelessness. If that is worship to you, well, you are truly a deluded person. Also, it isn't a rejection of Islam from a Christian perspective, I have seen what they say too, they are far less charitable than Hitchens has been.

cults of personality are troubling, even for cool people, because it is all image and not about honesty. When people admire someone, when they're on a high stage, there is the view that they can't do wrong, they dehumanise them in a way, making them higher than a normal person. A mistake to be sure.
