You should get yourself some soft wire brushes for cleaning the corrosion and rust from battery terminals. Also instead of regular sandpaper get some black emery cloth.

I used to see these for sale in discount shops as well as very large tv remote controls. Just sold as cheap gimmicks.

Id say the Sony. But what I hate about these 90s units is those awful cassette mechs. those rely on a idler wheel to rotate the take-up spindle (hence the reason your tape got chewed) and those fail over the years. Even if you replace the belts, it wont fix the take-up torque.

Shame about that radio not working properly, it's definitely a nice 1970's vintage radio!. Before i moved last year i had a "Murphy a252" table top radio, made in 1954,full of valves - tubes, and after a bit of work i got that old radio working sweet as a nut!!.

I have a later model of that from 1983 and there’s a switch on top, alarm lock time flip that switch to time to set and flip switch to alarm to to set alarm time put back to lock when done. I think you got it though, when all else read the the directions, manuals online if you are still looking

I have this clock radio. Still works but spent years unplugged so that helped I guess. The receiver was very good at tuning in stations. Great looking too.

Nice looking old 23 channel cb!, i guess it's worth the $11. Hook it up to a car battery and a cb antenna, and have a listen in. I have some old 23 channel cb radios made by Teaberry.

charity shops in the UK are much more savvy than they used to be they know people come in to buy items to flip on eBay, car boot sales with people just trying to clear the loft or garage are the best value

Actually you have a FM antenna-it's the power cord, there is a short FM antenna wire inside the radio wrapped around the power cord. 1DAPCO1962 is the serial number. This set is from 1980.

Problem with everyone buying from thrift stores and re-selling is that the thrift stores are catching on and jacking up prices, and now the people that actually relied on the thrift store because of low income are paying for it, literally.

I like that one, especially as it has the older VFD readout, rather than LED, clock radios - they normal just sit by someones bed, so it hasn't got any physical wear! Did you check inside for the remains of a wire FM antenna, that may have become detached in the past.

Out of those 3, I'd grab the Panasonic one, I have a couple of Panasonics from the early 90's & 2000's still working exactly as they should!

I would say none of them , a vintage boombox to me is pre 1985 , when they were quality, not cheap plastic mass produced stereos, a vintage boombox to me doesn’t have detachable speakers or a CD player, just my opinion

If I remember right clock radios like that had a battery backup that kept the time when the power went out so you may want to replace that

Cool find! I had one similar to this when I was growing up. The battery was nice to have in the event that power went out during the night. This would ensure that the alarm went off at the right time so I could make it to school on time!

Well every bit of the electronics in that shop are rubbish, but the speakers on which the silvery box sits might be worth investigating. Check the brand and model and look them up to see if they're worth anything. The glut of printers are those that were bought new, eventually ran out of ink, and disposed of when the owners found out that it was cheaper to buy a new printer than new ink lol.

I had a Candle am/fm clock radio(no cassette) and it performed well for many years, but eventually like everything mass produced? Things started going wrong, like volume control and sound started getting a muffled in and out problem until one day? It stopped working!? i never replaced it as I used my laptop for everything!

The noise could maybe be the motor being out of lubrication, i had a tape deck go screetchy on me before until i put some oil in the motor axle. The clock radio reminds me a bit of my old 70´s stereo clock radio that i still use. It doesnt have a cassette player and no wood finish (black and silver grey) but it has separate volume controls for each channel like this one and analog dial, it has a metal touch switch for snooze along the whole front which to me is typical 70´s and also the text is in Swedish (im from Sweden) on the panels which was common on devices back then when people werent as good in reading English here.

Hi. Candle equipment (in my opinion) is very nicely built, but they are extremely difficult to service. They packed a lot of moving parts into their builds. However, they are scarce. I would have brought that home. Cheers.

When I was a teenager I had a Panasonic RX C45LE in my bedroom and I loved it. I recently found one on EBay that was pristine and had to have it, especially as it was only in a neighbouring city. I’ve managed to do a very neat Bluetooth adaption to it to bring up to date. So yeah the Panasonic all day long!
