Project Royal Enfield Part 6: RE Classic 350 - Adjustable Levers & Hagon Shocks... Worth The $$$?
Hey there, Welcome to Project Royal Enfield. This is a fun little mini series I'm working on involving my 2022 Classic 350. The goal of this series is to see what can be done to improve the performance of this little single cylinder 350cc bike. Can we make it quicker?, More well rounded? more capable at high way speeds? Who knows.
In this video (part 6) I've decided to swap out the shocks and the levers for something of a higher quality. Will they make any difference? Are they worth the money? Maybe, maybe not.
The Levers feature in the video are the full length adjustable black ones off Hitchcock Motorcycles.
accessories.hitchcocksmotorcycles.com/53563?cont_page=Royal-Enfield-350-Classic-Accessories
While the rear shocks are Hagons of the same exact length as stock. The pair i'm installing are the open springs in black.

    Hey everyone, just a few things. Hope you all are doing great! 1. I'm currently running a poll where people can help vote/decide on the next project bike series. I'm hoping the GT650 wins but you can help sway that by voting here. czcams.com/users/postUgkxAJLF-AJmq-cCqkO15kuIF_I5StCkktst 2. I've never brought up my whole arthritis thing before this video. Only my handicap with my foot thanks to my PG disease. The arthritis i never really noticed affecting my riding until someone recently pointed it out (rather harshly). Not going to bring it up again at this point forward, don't feel it's necessary. 3. I MAY post a mini update video in regards to some of the other ideas i have in mind for the classic 350. Not for a PRE video, but just some offshoots here and there.

    Glad to see another installment to this series. Like the others, well done. Hitchcocks has terrific parts available. Have you ever checked out Baxter Cycles in Marne, Iowa? The carry parts from Hitchcocks under the Enfield Precision moniker. They carry a whole lot of stuff from a lot of companies outside the USA, plus RE parts. I picked up my RE TDC tools from them too, and the sipping from the Mid-West to the East Coast was quick too. Enjoy your weekend!

    • @FoxParasyte
      @FoxParasyte Před dnem

      Thanks!, Yes i've been kind of watching Baxter for some time now. They have a ton of all around. In the event I do grab myself a GT650, they'll be my go to shop for parts. They have every single part that I would want for that bike. My friends / partners, keep trying to get me on a Triumph Speed Twin but I just have more of a desire for a GT. Maybe I just like the quirkiness and obscurity of RE.

  • @electrobob1
    @electrobob1 Před dnem

    I'm just braking in my classic and noticed after 200km the levers should be closer to the grips for comfort. I have all three seat variants and the touring seems to be the best in dampening holes in tarmac and risers. Because of this I wondered if the stock springs since they have been designed for india road use, would be desired more than springs made for better road surfaces. I live in the Netherlands where streets used to be very smooth but noticed more tarmac holes last years surfacing. Hyperpro seems to be an option as well and a very close base to visit for me but they cost quite a bit. I do like the hagon closed shocks quite a bit. I do notice the front forks are very soft. Not sure what to think about them. HOwever, I do realise a classic is not made to race and at low speeds shock upgrade might be overkill? I do like to have a comfortable bike and I like the stock engine for what it is. I fancy the big foot bars and consider the heel toe lever and a rev counter,ceramic coating and pannier bags. Not a big wishlist by all means. nice vid! thx Erik

    • @FoxParasyte
      @FoxParasyte Před dnem

      I'm not convinced that the stock shocks are designed for with rough India roads in mind. I think it's more of a cost effective option with having a balance of comfort. They wouldn't put super high quality shocks on a bike like the J350 lineup, nor would they put absolute junk on the bikes either. I do love the Hagons, though i'm curious why other versions cost hundreds of dollars more. The front forks i can't honestly comment too much about. I've not had any real complaints with it, harsh front braking does cause the front to dive a little more than i would like. But is it worth upgrading? For my use, god no....... unless for whatever reason i was already in the process of rebuilding the forks. That would be the only reason i would change things. I definitely want the rev counter on the bike. That's on the bucket list for sure!

    Nice to see another video from you. We spoke a few months ago and at the end I bought a Meteor 350 in Supernova blue and pre ordered one in aurora green. That's awesome!, I would HIGHLY recommend installing a fuelx at some point soon. It'll run leaner than normal now and hotter so balancing that with the fuelx is pretty much a necessity for long term reliability

    I can tell you a Janus gryfinn with knobbies is way more fun than a monkey or vanvan on the dirt gravel. They are rad and have a carb and a full size human fits on them. I do like the TU250 engine but the Janus engine has the granny low super torquey first gear. It is also way lighter than a vanvan which is confidence inspiring in the trails. You make a lot of fair points in this video but I think you’re missing the point. Janus is not a cheap commuter bike it’s buying a literal modern classic. Not a mass produced royal Enfield with a shit frame and fake carburetors. It’s old school you work on it you design it it’s made in the USA. It’s a unique thing man. It’s not practical. It’s for old guys that have the money and want to buy something that feels mechanical and analog. It’s fun. It has a carb. It’s reliable. It’s supporting an American company.

    the story of this industry titan was a tragedy, a failure to adapt to their business to the growing home console market is ultimately what killed them. They were on the level of Sega, Nintendo and Atari, they were a titan of the games industry of yesteryear. If they were around to this day and they were as big as they were in the nineties, they'd be the size of xbox, but alas the tragedy of what could be... Also, i guess their fall helped to create a whalefall of their former devs going into education and teaching new game devs. Im fortunate to be one of those devs who came from their bones and a small game development community has sprouted from current netherealm folk and indies who are in that area.

      The speed limiter thing is bypassed by removing the fuse for the ABS. HOWEVER i do have concerns about pushing the bike beyond the limiter. I'm concerned that even with all the mods and performance parts that it's just too much for the bike to handle for long term use. If the big bore kit was installed (i do question that kit heavily btw) i would be less concerned about pushing the bike to say 80-85mph

    you might want to look at a heel/toe shifter to help with your bad foot.

    I have this as well, although I haven't gotten sores as big as yours. Mine have stayed relatively small as far as surface area but have been pretty deep. Yes, you can most certainly get them on your face and neck. The first time I got these, there were several at the same time. Legs, chest, back, neck and face all at the same time. It was not a good time and messed with the rest of my body because of all the trauma so I was admitted to the hospital for about a week and a half. Good luck man. I'm dealing with trying to get a couple of my own healed right now too...

    Couple things I would like to clarify (and this will be pinned) 1. No PRE (project RE) is not over with, I have parts that have yet to be installed. 2. I'm not sponsored by any company for any of the products that i'll be installing on the Benelli. Yes I have a partnership with Werks Powersports but they're not affiliated in any way with this Benelli or the series. Even if they were, my opinions, results, and the way I make these videos are not influenced in any way. 3. If you would like to help support the channel and videos like this, consider joining my patreon account. www.patreon.com/Foxxy400 4. Finally, sorry for that massive 3ish month span of not posting. When i got sick it pretty much sucked the life out of me for a month. Along with working and personal life, i just didn't have the time or motivation to work on videos much less even ride bikes.

      Agreed, without descent fairing there's little point trying to go 80mph+ for any distance.

  • @skaraborgcraft
    @skaraborgcraft Před měsícem

    You need to pull the fuse for the ABS sensor to get unlimited speed. You will get an engine management fault light though, and the ABS wont work. There is a different ECU fitted to some Hunter 350 for non Indian markets, that may get a top end of 85mph. Its stems from speed restrictions in Asian markets.

    On a mild slope hit an indicated 80mph going down to Dover on my Hunter. Going back up even on steeper bits it was fine, in 5th was low 60s but couldn't be arsed to downshift. I'm happy my 16t front sprocket, dna filter fuelx lite works well for my commuter. No issues on the motorway

    When you mention the fact that the power and torque the bike doesn't have in comparison to the Japanese models. But here in Ontario where insurance premiums for motorcycles are extremely high.. So the advantage is because of the underpowered aspects it may serve well as an urban bike that won't squish your wallet.
