MY MACMINI M2 PRO with 32 ram and 1 terabit DID NOT ACHIEVE 8K or even 4K with 120hz. SAMSUNG 85inch tv 8K QN900C. I CONNECTED HDMI BUT OFTEN I GOT A BLACK SCREEN FEW SECONDS. Shocked to have found this issue in my new m3 max. I’m also trying to figure out if I actually need the hdr toggle, I don’t like the way the desktop looks different with it enabled, and my MacBooks built in display does not look like that in the desktop. The built in display simply does hdr things when there’s a hdr source on the display like a hdr CZcams video. If I don’t have the hdr toggle enabled on my external display, does that mean that when when playing hdr content on the display it won’t show in hdr? Why then does the built In display work like that?

I have the c3 but I don’t have the high dynamic range toggle? I don’t know why.

Thanks - interesting video. If not considering an OLED TV, and planning for non-computer gaming use, it seems that for many of us a TV could make an adequate PC monitor. There are some other issues that I don't think you addressed: latency, color accuracy etc, but for a simple work PC or general use monitor, I've found that even relatively cheap LCD/LED tvs are adequate. One important note: be sure that the TV isn't less than 1080 resolution AKA FHD - full HD. I bought a store brand TV from a large US chain that rhymes with West Tie and it was not 1080 res, though it was called HD - it was around 720. Argh - the image from the PC via HDMI wasn't good enough. It wasn't terrible, but not good enough... 6 months later, I bought a nearly identical TV that truly was FHD/1080 pixel resolution from the same place (price had dropped so it was 1/3 less than the inferior TV's earlier price...) and the display is adequate for general use. Yay! I love having a TV and Monitor in the small space I've put it. I bought a 24" TV, after trying a 32", which was too big to my taste. A 27 or 28", should good FHD TVs exist might be better!

Australia Prices: Alienware: $1900 MSI: $2200 Asus: $2750 Since the MSI MAG doesn't have firmware updates, it's no contest. The Dell wins.

So factual, concise, and good. Only thing you didn't quite mention is that 8GB RAM isn't future proof, it's a time bomb to go obsolete, uhhh, yesterday. Fun fact, the resale on the 8GB model is about half that of the 16GB model, meaning you actually lost money by not getting 16GB, when the time comes to resell. As time goes on and 8GB becomes unheard of, that phenomenon is going to get even worse, imho.

Hi guys, My quick review about the Alienware sold in Europe (France at least) 500€ less than the other screens : - I use firefox dark mode : I must come close to my screen to see the difference between the black displayed on the Firefox window and the plastic border of the monitor ; - During a black loading screen the Alienware is darker than my Odyssey G7 switched off ; - The monitor is already calibrated, there is the certificate in the box so I don't even try to enhance it. NB : I don't use HDR, it's too bright for me. Conclusion : From Odyssey G7 1440p -> Q OLED 4K it's an other universe, just fantastic : if you can and don't need extra features buy the Alienware.

No.. and the air doesn’t worth 600$ , and it’s a scam. The pro m2 is now 700$ from original 800$, what you get extra? 120 hz, 2 camera, Lidar , 4 speakers , fast usb c …. All this worth much more than 100$

I'll stick with the iPad Air and MacBook for major use even if they have true MacOS on iPads in the future. I use iPad for browsing only so makes most sense for myself. The price difference doesn't justify for me.

kind off contemplating to get mac mini 2 base model just for typical office works, media consumption, reading multiple pdf research journals and whatnot. and i have a dell G3223Q 4k 144Hz 32" monitor. i think you COULD output a 4K 120Hz via DP to USBC cable on the mac mini M2 yes? since it has only HDMI 2.0 and only limit to 60Hz. I wanted to experience the same smoothness as on my ipad pro M1 ProMotion.

The Dell is a whopping >£350 CHEAPER than the other two, here in the UK, and if you register as a new customer with Dell, they give you a £50 discount - that, IMO, makes the Dell a 'no brainer', and I've ordered one today.

I have LG UltraGear 24gn600, spesification is 1080P (FHD) but my macbook pro 2023 M2 detected as 4K resolution, and that make my monitor color is bad and often disconected.. any recomendation what can I do ?

My M1 Max 16inch Macbook doesn't spin the fan while only CPU under load (around 45~50w, whole machine) . While the GPU kicks in, the whole machine can reach 110w~133w power consumption, and it goes up to 5800rpm with crazy loud noise.

"I can't understand how someone can put up with fans on monitors" Me with my AC unit buzzing behind me, the TV turned on, the fans of the PC at 50% minimum fan speed and I'm just wearing a headset.

Sadly all those 3 are DP 1.4, which disqualify all 3 of them for me. And nobody gives a flying eff about HDMI anymore (because reasons - major one of them NO HDMI 2.1 support for Linux). Gotta wait for MSI MEG 321URX and Gigabyte Aorus FO32U2P and HP Omen Transcent 32 actual reviews to see if and which ones of them have DP 2.1 and Dolby Vision actually present. Also the slide you show for Dell, it does state clearly "AMD FreeSync™ Premium Technology: No" ... I mean "NO" means it does not have it, you did say it has.

alienware monitor much better now especially with all firmware fixes bettter calibration and film protection on screen. and it's always good to check on the dell site for deals like how i got one

My stupid Acer monitor can't handle VRR, flicker fest!

I've experienced the same issues as you've mentioned. Especially the fuzzy font in some applications, like a webbrowser, at 1440p just suck. BetterDisplay fixes this error, but it's annyoing to bring in another thrid party application that could break in the future.

I guess I'm going to wait out the MSI. Honestly, the thing that scares me most about the Dell is all the reviews I've read that mention shipping damage. And the price of the MSI is a nice selling point. Hopefully they'll get some of the supply issues sorted soon.

120fps for a smooth gaming experience? I don't remember anyone saying that before. 60fps is good enough.

I find the 1700r curve on the Dell to be a unique experience and not a negative at all. The only drawback is the limited audio output connections, which really irked me. EARC can be problematic

Dell monitor's loud fan noise is a deal breaker for me. I bought my dell monitor 3 years ago (don't remember the exact model number but it is 32 inch curved gaming monitor). The fan noise is loud and produces too much heat. The heat is the biggest issue as it increases the room temperature by a noticeable amount. Glad you mentioned the fan issue. I just ordered MSI and will see how it goes.
