Napalm Death were totally influenced by the band from Providence, Rhode Island called Siege 1983-84’s Drop Dead and they had admitted that in a GrindCore interview ( Barney Greenaway said it was a hardcore band from Boston who they’d heard just like KISS and Aerosmith stole from their idols The New York Dolls back in the early seventies kids! I’m only stating this because it’s a fact. Not cuz we’ve played with them before and NO, We never stole our own band’s name from Slayer’s number, but it’s kinda suspicious how they were on the cover of KERRANG!! magazine and promoting their newest album Hell Awaits and we were on the back page as Bands To Watch Out For in the 1985 issue section and voila! 👌 We were signed to New Renaissance Records whose reputation was shite for ripping off acts like Dark Angel and Death Angel was even thinking of signing to them until they were picked up by Metal Blade of course lol; after both Coroner’s Office and our The Missing Link Ep + a local one called Shit- Kickah ( created by Us naturally), then Sony owned Relativity and the rest is history now! Had that Wharehouse worker never put the debut from Torrid Records @ on the top shelf in 1982? We would’ve been looking at an entirely different Big Four band ranking than we do now, because they’d have been released way before than Metallica in’83 with their own debut album; in which they’d have about a half dozen of them that were actually halfway decent at best except for the RTL release mixed and edited by Elektra in 1984. MOP has the same themes throughout it with the length of each track; same subject matter and even same tempos. When they started ripping off bands that folks had never really known in this country like Budgie and Diamond Head etc which was an insult to their fans who still hadn’t mourned the death of Cliff Burton yet to put out a cover album and making fun of a band like Iron Maiden at the very end.? Plus a new bassist nobody ever heard of unless they were in Flotsam and Jetsam back in Phoenix’s music scene; they jumped the shark with a double album with a few good songs on it under 11:00 minutes and not harvesting their sorrow (!?) 😳 Whatever they were singing about. The Black Album saved their careers however they also forgot where it was they’d come from as well as their own fans who had put them on the map to begin with. Yup 👍 It really should’ve been Exodus’s BBB album that’d been in the mix alongside their brethren Anthrax, Megadeth and of course SLAYER ffsakes! I’m only telling ya what happened with their new debut in 1982-83 kids; so save the hate speech please..? I’ve toured with every single band from’80- present times. Kk? There was a band from Detroit in the 80s called Seduce. They were the first band I ever saw with huge, ratted hair dyed black. They were dark and super heavy. Not Hollywood glam. There was a time in the early 80s when big hair meant big, heavy sound.
