    Doing this method, you don't need relays or a circuit breaker? It's alot easier. Is there any cons of doing it this method?

      I later thought it was that too since the motor would run up in rpm and not increase speed. I ended up buying a spare motor and pulling the lower unit of it and swapping it on the old engine seems to be working fine now. I just need to get out on the water and make more videos

      Look for the relays that are related to that system you should see one wire coming from each going into the control box harness, if not try to trace the wire up in to the motor then out starting from the trim pump.

      Sounds like a possible warpage on the water jacket cover or a hairline crack in the water jackets. Did you check for the warpage on the water cylinder heads?

    • @knightcustombuilds6988
      @knightcustombuilds6988 Před měsícem

      Check your exhaust manifold, it has walls in it to cycle water, they can corrode and begin letting water into the cylinder. Be careful with the bolts though.

    Nice find! Rebuilding my 91' 361V. Your paint is in better shape than mine. I've done a full rewire (switches, wiring looms, fuse blocks, LED lights, Radio, Garmin 73S, and front panel near bow). The trailer metal is way better than most newer made trailers, they used good frames. Does your's have the wiring diagrams under the rear lids? On these older 2 strokes, most people will bypass the oil injection system and just do hand mix. Mine's got the original Johnson 150 Fast Strike, would prefer a Yami like yours though. I'll be following your vids!

      Thank you! I think it was a hidden gem for sure needs some work, but it’ll be a great little boat here soon. And for the wiring diagrams I just went of the old owners manual on Rangers website wasn’t too hard to find. This one still has the factory oil injection system but I need to figure out why it’s not sending oil from the main tank in the boat out to the tank on the side of the engine. I assume it’s the small filter that could possibly clogged.

    My brother blew his Yamaha 150 saltwater series motor over the summer from overheating. I have told him over time that flushing the motor is extremely important, especially when offshore fishing. He just never really saw the importance of this task. He noticed that water wasn't flowing very well through the engine. His idea was to remove the thermostats to get better water flow and he would replace the impeller after fishing season 😱😱. He overheated it to point he lost compression in a cylinder. We pulled one of heard and the salt buildup inside was beyond ridiculous! ...... People, flush your motor after every use! I don't care if it's only used in a freshwater lake.
