Taking the Top Lid off a 55 Gallon Oil Drum with an Angle Grinder Easy
zhlédnutí 114KPřed 4 lety
All you need is an Angle Grinder with a 1/4 thick Metal Cut-off wheel. Grind around the seam and hammer the lid to separate the seam. Make sure the insides of the barrel have been cleaned from any residue before attempting this. This works because the lid and the sides are folded over each other to create an air tight seal. Grinding the seam separates the lid from the rest of the barrel. You ca...

Hi how long is your truck bed ?
@@814chappy Hello, my truck is a crew cab, it has a 5 foot 8 inch bed. The bed walls are recessed and I am 5 ft 9 and I sleep stretched with the tailgate closed comfortably. My toes hit the tailgate but not my heels.
@@S4R1 thanks
Start buying from harbor freight lifetime warranty on all handtools
No sound?
@@idkwhtimduin there is sound for me.
Nice setup that looks so comfy!! 🤤
Gotta start out somewhere buddy camping is a fun activity and hobby and general thing to do have fun be safe cheers !

Now that sounds like a true hotel on wheels.
Nice truck. You make me wanna buy a truck now. Haha!
There's nothing a truck cant do. So roomy in the back seats and it's adventure ready. I'll never drive a car again. Trucks only for me
cool
Thanks for watching! 😊
I am late to the party but I enjoyed your video. I've been shopping at HF for 4 plus years and didn't even know about 3 of your items.
@@larryblackmon2341 never late brother. Appreciate you for giving it a watch and the comment.
LOL
Hey brother i just recently git the Medline Steel Rolling Walker for my 88 year old mexican grandma (she feisty lol) I wanted to ask is the metal tabs (brakes) are they always suppose to touch the wheels? Or should there be some space between them? If so i know the video only adjust after use and wear vs the one my grandma has is brand new. So any thoughts or opinions would help brother!!! Also this video is beyond simple and easy to understand. 😊
@@banja8837 hello brother. You don't want it to rub but you want it just a few mm away from the tire so when you press the brake with your hand it's not too difficult.
Quick question, how many tanks can a one blade cut , I mean at last in this video the blade kind of looks torn, btw nice tip thanks ❤
Thanks for the question. This was a cheap old dull HF blade and grinder in this video. A high quality blade and grinder would have the lid off in a few seconds I bet
The lung dart was the added touch
Lol that's a funny name for a cigarette
The steel cable ends came out and the split end are showing how do I put the end back in the brakes?
This means your cable is frayed. If it's coming out from the handle then it's hanging by just a couple strands of wire. Best option is to replace the brake cable.
What do you expect...rides a Honda 😂
It looks like a great way to do it, BUT I'm absolutely horrified that you didn't start by mentioning the importance of getting all fumes out before starting, to avoid explosion. If you can edit that in then i strongly suggest that you do, please!
My Home Depot is great to deal with, Lowe’s however is a different story.
Buy the same kit cash, wait a few days exchange the the old one for a new one ypu end up with two new ones, sell the second one and or go back and return it for a full refund.. Another thing i do is biy old tool with life time warranty clean them up and then return to sell them for a profit
If you see my update video, I just went to another Home Depot and they replaced the whole toolkit free of charge with the newer updated stubby rachet kit. So not all home depots are bad.
Good job
Fkn
Fkn wimp haters
Great video just got a drum and was wondering how to get the lid off. CZcams truly has everything haha.
Are you Pauly Shore in a disguise?
I would love to see a big brake kit and bigger wheels like the German SUVs
I've had dozens of husky tools fuck me Never even tried to replace them lol
Perfect video! It told me just what I needed to know to replace a squeaky bearing. You helped me save a lot of money! Thank you so much!
Glad it was able to help. I appreciate your comment! 😊
Less than a minute with a diablo grinding disk and 3# mini sledge. Nice coat and great info bud. TY
Yes my harbor freight grinding disk was so dull a diablo would've had it off in seconds! Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment!
Thanks Bro, If i didn't watch this I got a big problem.
holy shit thanks so much this is much easier
Glad to help!
Can’t believe you threw sparks all over your bike, you probably will have rust specks on your mirrors , chrome, and paint, good job
Yeah that was pretty stupid of me, I gotta watch where my sparks fly, but I assure you the bike was fine it was well taken care of. I sold it for $650 a few years ago. Thing was mint.
Definitely a service issue. Miscommunication and lack of training still happens at Harbor Freight; However, it's wayyyyy easier to correct with less than 6 cashiers per store. Especially when the supervisor/manager on duty is quick to assist if their one cashier gets tied up with a return issue. Meanwhile Home Depot's run on over 100 employees per store, and I imagine with higher turnover too. And the 3 or 4 managers are stretched much thinner.
Great job especially with cigarette in hand🙄
Thank you so much ; the adjuster screw is tough to turn & the lock nut same! Your video helped !! Well done!
Glad to help, some times if it's tight you can lift the cable where it goes into the brake handle and wiggle it while turning it should release some tension. Glad this video helped!
This was perfect, worked excellent and was easy for me. Great video!
good video
I now know why my wheel fell off yesterday, thank you. Now I see I need 2 bearings and the sleeve but what's the thing called that locks it on and where do I buy these items and how do I know size?
The axle bolt and nut is what your looking for but you can usually reuse those if you have them just the bearings need to be replaced. If you take the whole thing down to a hardware store they should have the bearings
@@S4R1 Thank you, sorry I didn't get back sooner. I got 2 new wheels in a pack that needed nothing but put on, which I did by myself and your information.
@@desiraw1wow that's awesome to hear where did you get the pair of wheels from? Awesome job!
bet your bike has some rust filings on it,,far out
Have you tried to use a lever locking lid on a steel barrel after removing the old lid? Does it work?
That's a great question, I unfortunately don't know the answer.
Home Depot just hires some tards that don’t even care to know about the small stuff like this, sure it might be rare when a customer comes in with a lifetime warranty claim but they gotta train these people better. Happened to my Dad before when he bought a measuring tape too
Very helpful! But....before you do this, make damn sure the old contents of the drum were not flammable. Vapors can be just as explosive as the former contents, and guys have gotten killed cutting into "empty" drums that exploded.
Yeah I wish I mentioned it. I pinned another commenter who mentioned this so others can read.
@@S4R1 Thanks, man. I was just reading about a guy in Pennsylvania who got killed by a burn barrel last week. And I know of another incident in Iowa that killed a man who was welding on top of a barrel, using it as a workbench.
@@jshepard152 man that's scary my heart goes out to them. I wish I could edit the video.
Still the best instruction for me - so simple and effective !
Did this only take one smoke?
Yes sir, one smoke. If your on cigarette number 2 your grinder disc is dull haha
Wow totally unacceptable. You need to go us the chain and escalate it to the HD regional manager. Believe me they will make it right and probably give you a gift card.
In the update video, I went to another home Depot, and they replaced the whole kit free of charge. Night and day difference between the two stores. Its a training issue
Thank so much for your great video.😀
Anytime, glad to help!
glad to see it all worked out for you
Thanks it was a nice and day difference between the two stores. The second store switched out the whole kit free of charge. They need to train employees better.
I was bringing on a barrel for 40 mins, and still couldn't get the lid off. Luckily I found your video showing how you were grinding along the interior of the top lip, while I was grinding on the top or the outside of the lip. 2 minutes after watching your video, lid is off!
Got 4 barrels today. Good info.
The front end looks like a Lamborghini Urus! 😮
Thanks really helped
Glad to help! Thanks for your comment.
Cool had no idea I need to cut a drum for a solvent tank 20 gallon thank you
My friend you're not alone it happened to me exactly how you describe your situation that happened it happened to me personally today but at the Home Depot I went the manager and other employees were congregating and staying and it made me feel the corral me like if they were a gang that's why I walked out of their embarrassed it was so shocking that it has actually brought my self-esteem to allow that's a dramatic it was the situation at the Las Vegas Charleston and lamb Home Depot
