    Hey, Andy! Loving your videos as always! Andy, I have an unrelated debacle to your video. I am currently driving a 1998 camry,which has 136K miles. My parents got this car brand new in '97, and they have been the only owners of it for 26 years . The car has never had a transmission fluid service nor a differential service in all it's life. Currently, the transmission is slipping, and it's been getting worst. Sometimes when I put the gear in "D", instead of driving the car will reverse, and other times it will take almost a minute for the car to drive even when pressing the pedal to accelerate. The fluid level is normal on the dipstick,but the color is dark brown . Should I drain and fill the fluid? Many sources tell me "No" because of the fact that the service has never been done for the age of the vehicle and it's current mileage, as they say it may slip worst and that clutch,seals, and debris will get worst,while some say I can just drain and fill it without any problems as long as I do not flush it, should I drain and fill it,which I am tempted to do, but I am just afraid of worst problems and having to buy a new transmission, which will be awful! I am really confused on what I should do .

    • @AndyTheXTech
      @AndyTheXTech Před 20 hodinami

      Well, it sounds like the transmissions already done. If the fluid smells burnt in other words really really bad then it’s already too late. Even draining it out and putting new fluid and really isn’t going to help.. you can try if you want to. I don’t think it’s gonna hurt it. It just sounds like you’re in need of a new transmission for a rebuilt transmission

    • @mc.ashlandfelix7140
      @mc.ashlandfelix7140 Před 20 hodinami

      @@AndyTheXTech I appreciate it, Andy! I never did smell the fluid, which I should, but I haven't smelled anything abnormal yet. I will give it a sniff test, which I forget to do. I hope the drain and fill is a guarantee, but I am not even certain of that. Tough times, Andy! If the drain and fill wouldn't hurt, I'd give it a try. You are appreciated! Thank you!

    Objective point/crtic. He is charging based on eg. Why do I say that? If you set aside all his talking (not ignore) when servicing the hardware kit he lubricates under the contact points instead of the actual contacts points. Why is that important? Well those clips will always pop out but the pad that is sliding will not always move smooth

  • @2435qwerty
    @2435qwerty Před dnem

    Let me know what you guys usually do in the shop. We usually put ant seize between the shim and pad and where the pad backing touches the bracket. Non of that stuff is there when the car comes back so 🤷(Lmao what if it smokes off while they drive). We use the included grease on the pins(grey). We always turn or replace rotors. When we turn we don’t do a multi directional finish on the rotor but always a slow final pass. I try to use the oem hardware if it’s on the car. If it’s not there or damaged I use the included hardware. If I can I push the fluid back into the reservoir if not I use the bleeder bottle. I break them in till I smell them a bit and then cool while rolling.
