It is so profound 🎉🎉. Sometimes we just fail to see the whole picture for ourselves
I am new to pottery too. I purchased a wheel about 30 years ago. Without a kiln! I was lost, what to do with clay after it was used. So much u tube content has been wonderful. I've had a reawakening. I recently purchased a used sm kiln. I'm finding my way with glazing. & Chemicals. Thanks for your helpful tips. 👍
@@donnastrohmeier8739 love to hear that!!✨ I wish you a great fresh start of this journey and that you can express yourself through your art🧚🏻♀️🎀
🌺 surprise that I can found this emoji. Hahaha.. I watch to the end and already subscribe 😂
@@AnggiSahamCantik love that😂🌸 thank you!!! Welcome to the softbaked family✨🧚🏻♀️
I've thrown on the wheel for 11 years and your observations are good on the reasons for your pots collapsing. I would add however that when you are looking at someone else's work that you want to emulate, determine if it's actually hand thrown or slip cast. Slip casting can give you a much thinner result than throwing so don't try to throw as thin as that. Secondly, if you determine that the pot is hand thrown, feel the walls all the way from the top to the base. Many many times you will see a hand thrown pot that looks impossibly thin but in reality it's just the lip or the opening edge that is very thin. So keep your walls thicker all the way to the top for stability while shaping, and then right before you take it off the wheel, thin the edge slightly to make the pot look thinner than it is. Keep in mind however that very thin edges will chip very easily with use. Florian Gadsby is an expert at this trick and admits it in many of his videos. Can't wait to see more of your videos, you have a lovely space to work in.
@@vzeimen thank you so much for this comment!!🌟 that‘s a good tip, I will pay attention to that. I really thought that you can throw as thin as this with enough practice but considering decorative carving more and more, it would be useless to throw walls that are so thin👀😂 I appreciate it🫶🏻🌸
started 3 months ago too. love seeing a fellow new potter on here
@@zlothemeek love that! Keep it up🌟🧚🏻♀️
Hey there, I am a clay baby too. I've only been throwing a little bit for a couple of months and I really enjoyed your video. I have the same problems with making my walls too thin. One day we won't do that anymore lol. Thanks for sharing. I love your studio, so clean and fresh. Mine is in a dirty old shed behind my barn but it works well for now.
@@learningmywheel-us1nd hey, love to meet another clay baby🫶🏻✨ yeah the thin walls…👀😂 one day we will get the hang of it 💪🏼 tbh love the aesthetic and the vibes of an old shed somehow haha but I wish you the mist beautiful and clean pottery studio you could want🧚🏻♀️🎀

What’s your favorite medium to work with??
Currently it‘s clay and watercolours🫶🏻🎀
Everything looks great, very neat and organized. Do you have any pets for companionship?

Thank youu!!!✨🎀
This looks so good I can’t even draw a person and your over here painting people and flowers and making it look great keep working ❤
Thank you, that‘s so sweet🫶🏻🥺 bit I bet your skills are better than you say✨😌
I hit a drawing artblock recently and what helped me the most was using different media to express myself. I started writing fanfiction and that straight up made me feel so creative I decided to draw illustrations for it. Not only did it improve my skills, I finally (FINALLY!!!) started drawing backgrounds and it was very challenging but also so FUN! (and who doesn't love to read a story with cool pictures lol) Having multiple artistic hobbies is literally my savior. From crocheting, to painting, to writing, to drawing, to making video edits, to even picking up a new traditional supply! Alternatively, I surround myself by art in many different forms. Movies, books, comics, or games. Even pottery or clothing. They inspire me so much!
That sounds great! I love that you try out so many things (I still have polymer clay, air dry clay, wool and Jewlery supplies lying around lol) ✨🎀 And I love how you cured that art block and that you are writing fanfictions!!!! Wattpad is my hometown🫶🏻🥺✨
I always like to hear an artist's insights on the art they are creating - I think I can still interpret things my way if it hits me differently. I'm really excited for you finding a "style" or a direction to focus on for a while - I do like the human/botany connection. Thanks for a great video, especially for addressing sometimes difficult feelings in life.
Thank you for that comment! I appreciate your support and that you like what I am doing✨🌸 and yes, I think on the Internet it is important to keep the balance between being super positive and happy but also showing the other side of things, to keep things real🌻
This video will blow up ❤🎉🎉❤
That would be great👀😂✨
Your work is so sincere, fresh, and honest. I appreciate your style and passion and get much inspiration as a result. Keep up the excellent work! (I like #3 the best).

nice video and nice art! Exploring a new medium can be frustrating, but you pulled through and did a great job :)
Thank you!!🎀
You're off to a great start with watercolours, especially after only watching one tutorial! A tip with masking tape: I like to put it on my clothes (maybe a sleeve or my pants) to get rid of some of the stickiness so that way it's easier to peel off the paper :)
Thank you🌻✨ oh that‘s a great tip, thanks😊
Girl had 1 day of looking at watercolour tutorials, played music and boom came up with a masterpiece. Life’s not fair sometimes, but oh well
🥹🫶🏻 that‘s so sweet, but I just wanna mention that this whole process took place over a span of a week so maybe I should have stressed that more👀😂🎀

Wonderful video...I always fun to see someone trying out new media. Beautiful painting. Just a little helpful tip...the water color block is gummed on all 4 sides so it does not need to be taped down....just let the painting completely dry before removing it. Also if you want a white border you can still use tape, or just leave yourself an organic border by not painting right to the edge...again well done
Thank you so much! Also thank you for this tip, I didn‘t think about it👀😂 I will try it🐝
That‘s so sweet, you are definitely right 🥰
I really like the end result - the colors work well together and it's definitely emotive! Watercolors (for me) are a lovely thing because I don't have complete control and I can allow nature and chance have a say in what happens next on an art piece. I'm still fairly new at it myself, but I've come to use it pretty often these days. As for finding a "personal style" - that seems elusive to me, even after all the years I've spent doing artwork. I'm just too interested in so many things - both subject matter and art media... I just love it all! Im jealous of artists that find their "niche"! New subscriber here! Looking forward to your next videos!
Thank you so much!✨ And I totally agree, even though a brush stroke may be intentional, water will always find it‘s way that you cannot control. I also find that to be the beauty in it. Thank your for your support! New videos will be coming🌸
As a lazy-ass, i have an empty serum bottle with a dropper that I keep on my art-cart so that I can refill the waterbrush/activate the paints whenever I want :) I also keep it on me whenever I wanna paint outside! Highly recommend! Loved the video, it's so chill and nice it immediately made me wanna clean up and draw too lol
I love that haha🫶🏻😂 I do that too now, and yes taking it on vacay is a really good idea bc it‘s so easy to use wherever you are!!✨ I am glad you like it🎀
