Car is a 2009 Pescarolo 02 Le Mans Prototype with 420 hp. Driver is Timothy Carel @timothycarelracing1432. He's only 17 years old but with great talent. That was was done during the NASA Sprint race on 3/26/2023. He won that race but it was neck to neck with another prototype (Norma M20FC). You can rent this car at Fast Toys for a track day or a race.

Fast Toys Team qualified the Pescarolo 02 in 2nd place for the 2022 WERC 6.5H Enduro at Laguna Seca. Unfortunately we arrived late at the grid so we had to start all the way back! That gave us a full action race for the first 13 laps! We ended up at the end of the race in 3rd in ESR class.

I prefer the SL65. More and easier performance potential starting with modern Michelin Cup2's to actually put the power down. 65's are much quicker cars on these modern state of the art tires. Plus they're built better with larger fuel tanks and a special grade of V12 exclusive leather. The AMG suspension tune is smoother than the track hardened 63's firmer ride. Hold value much better too even with regular usage. It's only 118 lbs heavier than a 63 so not much difference in reality versus theory.

Lol , this is not an LMP1 … this is a “Pescarolo-school 02 prototype” powered by a 6.2L corvette engine detuned. The highest engine settings is 360 hp and the car is about 6 sec slower than An LMP2 , even an LMPC is faster … top speed of the Pescarolo school-prototype is about 135mph. On the top of that .. and I hate to say this but that driver is slow …brake to early , misses apex , V-mini are really really slow … its a nice and safe car to learn and Get a taste of what is a Le Mans prototype but why posting with such a title … 🤦🏻♂️
This is a LMP1 indeed. I also own the Pescarolo 02 school prototype. 2 very different cars. This one has a Judd V10 inside. 2 very different engine sounds. Look at my other videos of the Pescarolo 02. And the Pescarolo 02 is tuned to 420hp, at least for my car. And yes I was very slow that day with the LMP1 at the track. Few excuses for that: it was super cold and couldn’t put heat in the tires, it was my first time at this track and I’m not a pro driver.

Actually the SL63 AMG has 510hp and 590lb-ft of torque vs the SL65 AMG 620hp and 738lb-ft of torque. In a straight line both of these cars will cancel each other out at 3.6 secs in 0to60 and 11.8 secs quarter mile.

His(65's) tires must have been near bald? because the A/S 3 michelins are my personal pick for sl's, best tire ever as the grip is endless.
Grip might be good for cold weather and wet surfaces, but not on the race track in CA ;-)

Because the white car is a 488 Challenge where we were driving with the 458 Challenge. 100hp more for the 488 helps in the straight line for sure. That year, Ferrari Challenge was running both 458 and 488 at the same time, but in different classes.

power is nothing without control i still wait an upload with 65 engine with proper tires (new ) and a propper driver ..its been 20 years now.
Driver drove the car at the limit of what tires could do. But that was the point of the video: to see if a driver with skills and shitty tires could outmatch a more casual driver with good tires.

I've driven 2 different NASCAR Cup Series cars, it was cramped, uncomfortable, hot as hell, you can hear every single tiny rock the tires pick up, loud, physically taxing and probably the most fun I've ever had. What surprised me the most wasn't the power or speed, it was how well the brakes work. I've owned faster cars that handled much better but the brakes on that Cup car were absolutely insane.

It's Racelogic VBox. It provides the cameras and lap timing, and is also connected to the ODB2 port of the car to get some datas (brake and gas pedal pressure, steering input, gears, etc...)
Driving one of this car is not easy, i know. The forces you feel are different than normal car. And all this kind of stuff. But he should be trained. Anyway i don't think hes a bad driver. I think he is not calm at all. He always burn opportunity and take wrong trajectory due to pression, due to his will to be first. And sorry but, you can't push brake at 100 mph on a counter-slope corner. His driving is nervous. He was causing a crash because he didn't brake at all, just pushed half pedal. Yes yes i know its useless speak behind a screen but thats it
At least your comment is a constructive one, not just trash talking like many of them on this video. It is true I was nervous and I should have been more calm. It's partly due to the fact we had very few track time to practice before the race. During a "normal" Ferrari Challenge race, we have few full days to practice before the race. But since Ferrari Challenge is a support race for the Le Mans event, they don't give us a lot of track time. So since you really have only one shot to do good during the race, you maybe try too much and overdo it. After the first 2 laps I was more collected and start doing less mistakes. But that's when other made some mistakes and took me out. Even though I was not happy about the final result, it is still one of my fondest memory of racing. Racing at Le Mans is surreal!
