The Pull Out Method - Birth Control Basics
Hate birth control. With a passion. I’m back on it for the first time I. 10 yrs for IVF and it’s made my life miserable 😢 causing cysts not ending them. Haven’t had these issues til I started sprintec in January. I know it’s part of protocol so can’t so do much
Have you ever got a cut on your finger or any other body parts with a knife????? That pain is similar to the pain to feel at the time of mirena insertion. Pov: did this made clear about the kind of pain during the insertion of mirena????
What does that mean
Typical use means how well the method works to prevent pregnancy when real people in real life use it, whereas perfect use means how well the method works when it’s being tested in a clinical trial by people who are following the instructions perfectly every time for a whole year. A perfect use effectiveness rate of 99%, for example, would mean that over the course of a year, on average, 1 out of 100 people using this method exactly as instructed will get pregnant. Since life isn’t a clinical trial, we recommend paying closer attention to typical use numbers. But you can get closer to the perfect use number by learning to use your method correctly and consistently.
🎉😊
I have put this implant for 5 months now I had no problem but now it’s spotting for more that 10 days. But now my spotting has decreased Should I talk to my doctor or should I wait to see if it will get better
Spotting can be really annoying. If the spotting you're experiencing is bothering you, it's not a bad idea to talk to your doctor about it because they may be able to give you something to help or at least provide some reassurance that all is well.
If i take 2 pill in one day by mistake what i have to do?
Great question! Tomorrow you should take the next pill in your pack as normal and continue on taking one pill a day as normal from there.
Go on please
So if I can't find mine right now, is it likely it came out ?
Yeah, that's most likely what's happened. But when inserted correctly the ring shouldn't be able to fall out, so we recommend that you check out Bedsider's article on how to use the ring correctly (bit.ly/4a328yG) for a refresher on how to insert this method.
Have taken duphastone and still its not working
We're so sorry to hear that that's not working for you. Sadly, we can't offer specific medical advice online, so we recommend that you talk to your health care provider. If you need help finding a health care provider or someone to talk to, you can check out our clinic finder (www.bedsider.org/clinics)!
What about gestagen mini pills.
There isn’t any evidence that alcohol makes birth control pills less effective. However, it is still important to take the pill daily, and the progestin-only pill, has to be taken in the same three-hour window in order to be effective. For example, if someone takes the progestin-only pill at 9:00 am every day, if they forget and take it after 12:00, it may be less effective.
Its UP TO 5 days. average is about 3 days.
You a very beautiful women 🙏👍👍
how exactly do people use it incorrectly? I want to know so I can avoid making the same mistake
Great Q! Two of the most common condom problems include: wearing the wrong size condom or using a condom that's expired or has a tear. Here's an article that goes over some common condom problems: www.bedsider.org/features/660-how-to-avoid-6-common-condom-problems!
I think u right, best explanation 😊
Fuck yes, it hurts like hell. Almost passed out. Bled like crazy. My friend AND my doctor lied about how painful it was. I’m still mad about it Also for context I have been through excruciating pain. And I can tell you with confidence that this hurts BAD. Everyone is different, but they should warn patients that it could be extremely painful for them.
What could be risks with taking a pill every 12 hrs, for a few months? Gerenally speaking?
Taking birth control pills more often than prescribed could increase some side effects such as nausea and breast tenderness. More importantly, it could increase the risk of complications such as developing blood clots. You should definitely talk to a provider before taking more pills than prescribed. If you are concerned that your birth control pills may not be effective, you could also talk to your provider about other birth control options (www.bedsider.org/birth-control).
Thank you very much!@@bedsider
I had the copper non-hormonal IUD because I was in a bad relationship and needed to get something longer-term because I was tired of going to the drugstore for my pack of pills. I had great health insurance at the time, but I was unsure if I would have it much longer. I went to my PCP, who gave me a lecture insinuating that this device was tantamount to an abortion once a month. I looked her straight in her eyes and said, "Yes, I want this done." This was 22 years ago, and IUDs were not all "the rage" as they are now. She had a whole table with instruments and betadine which made it look like she was going to perform surgery on me. I believe that my PCP performed the procedure roughly on me to prove a point. It made me gasp! She was upset that I nearly fainted as I sat up. She left the room, and I carefully put my clothes back on trying not to faint or throw up. She had a heart and pulled the trash can closer so if I needed to throw up in it, (I'm using tons of sarcasm), and had my boyfriend called to the exam room. He whined about having to walk me out. I didn't care. I didn't want to have a baby with him; I'd endure worse pain. I paid my co-pay, 20 dollars I think, then we drove home. The first thing I did when I got home was to take more ibuprofen and make dinner. Of course, that night, he had to test it out. Later, I got a bill for 1200 dollars because this was before Obama Care and birth control was not covered by insurance as much as it is now. The copper IUD caused my periods to be longer and crampier, probably because my body didn't have extra hormones from the Orthonovum 777 more. Later I had it removed at PP and I was able to get free BC pills by mail. I got another job and set up not only a different PCP but a Gynecologist that delivered my friend's babies. I decided to try the Mirena after letting my Gyne know what kind of treatment I got with my former PCP. She said that should have never happened and said she was sorry, but she told me that she was kind of a conservative Christian that she was not surprised. It made me tear up that this virtual stranger cared so much about my values and why I made my choices. I love the Mirena and It didn't hurt to be inserted because my Gyne cares enough to not make it hurt. It makes me feel light headed after but at this office they hand you a cup of water and help you sit up.
this is suuuuch a lie I gained 15 pounds in two months with my Kyleena, and I have been calorie counting and working out as I have done for YEARS
Research tells us about women on average, but not about specific women’s experiences. When we describe what happens for women on average, we are not dissing personal stories. If you think your birth control is affecting your weight in a way you don’t like, talk to your health care provider to find another effective method that works for you.
What about endometriosis? Most obgyn prescribes the progesterone pill, shot or iud. Is it safe for chocolate cysts ?
If someone already has an endometrioma (chocolate cyst) on their ovary, the pill may not help resolve that. However, birth control pills may help prevent development of new endometriosis implants and may also decrease pain for people who have endometriosis. Since we cannot provide personal medical advice, we recommend that you talk to a provider about your specific case and symptoms. Good luck!
@@bedsider aww okay, thanks for your reply
It doesn’t always work 100%
You're right! The condom is so-so the way people typically use them-better when used perfectly. When used perfectly (aka when people follow the instructions perfectly every time they have sex for an entire year as part of a clinical trial) they're 98% effective at preventing pregnancy. But when used typically (aka how real people use them in their real lives) they're 87% effective at preventing pregnancy.
What If we use two condoms at the same time 😂
Hi, I usually take my pills at 10pm, the next day I realized I forgot the previous night & the night b4 that. How would I proceed?
It depends on what type of pill you’re on and how far into the pill pack you are. Since it seems like it’s been more than 48 hours since your last pill, take one of the missed pills as soon as you remember, leaving the other one in the pack. Then take today’s dose at the time you normally would AND use a back-up method of birth control, like condoms, every time you have sex for the next seven days.
@bedsider Thank you for your reply. When I missed them it was the first week of a new pack. I am taking Junel Fe 1/20... Not sure what that means lol
I’m curious how effective condom and pull out method is? Great video
Typically, the pull-out method (aka withdrawal) is 80% effective and condoms are typically 87% effective. You can learn more about both of these methods (and all the other great options out there!) at Bedsider: bedsider.org/birth-control/side_by_side.
I gained 20lbs in one year from being on the pill. Never again. Weight falling off like water since I stopped. I think MOST women gain weight on birth control. Your appetite increases.
Hello dear I am 16 years old I have been taken birth control for three months it made my weight increase so much and right now, I am going off of it this is my first day would I be losing weight after one month of stopping it please answer
Sadly, and the level of ICK just skyrocketed due to the fact of microchimerism and the potential of all the male dna being stuck in her brain for years even decades... talk about a woman being a disgusting cum vampire. Lort help us men...
Hi how long lectrum 11.25 take to work in a female
From what we know this medication isn't available in the US as birth control. Your best bet is to bring all your questions to a medical professional near you.
Funny that the “KC is the worst for singles” has been known for over a decade.
WTF!@???🎉
HAHAHAHAHAHA LOL I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS VIDEO 😅
Ok what if I missed five days of pills that wasn’t on my sugar pill week? Do I try to take all of the pills I missed in the same day or take two one day and the other two the next day until I catch up to the right day? I missed a lot of pills this week and I’m not worried about contraception or anything like that I just don’t know what to do with the pills I missed?
We can’t give specific medical advice online, but general guidance says if it's been more than 48 hours since your last pill, take one of the missed pills as soon as you remember, leaving the others in the pack. Then take today’s dose at the time you normally would AND use a back-up method of birth control, like condoms, every time you have sex for the next seven days. You may want to consider having emergency contraception available in case you ever have unprotected sex, and you don’t want to be pregnant. Also, remember that there are lots of methods that do not require you to take a pill every day. You can learn more about different methods at: www.bedsider.org/birth-control.
Can I stay on my pills with this?
While we can’t give specific medical advice online, there are helpful treatments to help you deal with spotting and bleeding while you are on the implant. Taking pills with estrogen in them is one option. We recommend that you talk to your health care provider to see what treatment option is best for you. If you need help finding one, we’ve got you covered: www.bedsider.org/find-health-care/clinics!
Hi is safe to take two daine 35 pills a day
We can’t give you specific medical advice online, but in general if you miss your dose at the usual time and take the missing tablet within 12 hours of missing it, you should still be protected against pregnancy. If it’s been more than 12 hours since your missed dose what you need to do next will depend on how long you’ve been taking Daine-35. To learn more about your specific situation, we recommend that you go to a health care provider!
Of course it does
Worked fine for me.
how many months is the real question?
If you just started using your method, it may be a few months before your body settles into a new pattern. Don’t give up yet! See if you can stick it out for three months. In the case of the implant, spotting doesn’t always go away completely, but most implant users have less bleeding overall than they did before, and some eventually stop having periods and spotting altogether. Remember you have option though! If you're not ok with spotting, consider another method that may fit you needs better.
Hey! I missed two pills out of my first week of my birth control, (Sprintec) what should I do now? Should I take the two that I missed immediately and then the one that im supposed to take tonight later?
Take one of the pills you missed now and then take tonight's pill at your usual time. Plus, don't forget to use a back-up method, like a condom, for a week to prevent pregnancy!
I am gaining weight since mirena, doctor keeps saying it's not IUD. Last time I inserted IUD it gave me worse experience but doctor said it was not IUD and after couple of years I put it again and not now I am experiencing the same side effects so it is definitely mirena.
Every body is different and if you're not happy with your IUD take it out and try another method! There are so many to choose from! Check out our Method Explorer to compare all of your options to see what you may like better (www.bedsider.org/birth-control/side_by_side)!
What about taking 2 pills everyday could I do that ???
There have been decades of research showing that birth control pills are safe and effective when taken as prescribed. Taking more than one birth control pill a day routinely will not increase its effectiveness and could increase the risks. It is only recommended to take two at a time if someone missed a pill for one day.
It's so nice to hear the story of a trans person. I'm also trans and I'm interested in getting it but I'm super scared. Good to hear that some trans people also do this.
It's honestly some of the worst pain I've been in, I'd heard some scary stories from friends and I have a pretty high pain tolerance and I'd seen content like this but I was not prepared at all for the extreme cramping afterwards.
What estrogen medications that I can buy to help I’ve been on nexplanon for a year and the spotting is annoying
We can't give out specific medical advice online, but you may want to go and see a health care provider to talk about your estrogen options or to discuss changing methods. Need help finding a health center? We’ve got you covered-just enter your ZIP code in our Clinic Locator (bedsider.org/birth-control/how-to-get-birth-control).

I've been on an everlasting period for 3 months
You may want to check in with a health care provider to make sure that everything is ok and to talk about other types of birth control to see if another may be better for you. There’s a ton of methods out there, so check out our Birth Control Explorer (bedsider.org/birth-control) to learn more.
what do i do if my birth control breaks or i lose it, do i take the crumbs of the remaining pill? or do i just continue taking the rest of the pills.
Great question! We'd recommend treating this as a missed pill. What to do next will depend on the type of birth control pill you take so check out this article to learn more: www.bedsider.org/questions/2126-what-should-i-do-if-i-miss-a-pill.
I took mine out and it was nothing. No pain only relief from all the pain it was causing my body. I felt better almost instantly. The doctor couldn’t remove it for another month and a half. I couldn’t bend down to tie my shoe without horrible pain.
Ok, what kind of pain were you feeling? I get this cramping pain what feels like it’s coming directly from my cervix hole.. my gyno says the IUD placement is fine… this pain happens sporadically and I still think it’s my IUD.
@@NaiyaEhimua yes that is what I was feeling. You should not feel anything. It must be too low and putting direct hormones into your cervix. I ended up breaking out very badly my joints started hurting probably from chronic inflammation because my body did not want that there. I had one before this last one and no issues at all. You know your body and sadly doctors just don’t listen. My body is 100% better now without it. I’ve actually lost weight and feel great. I felt better instantly after removing it and a month later I felt great. I’m sorry for what you are going through.
I FR thought id get sickness or something
I had 2 babies prior to getting mirena. The day of insertion I found out I had endometriosis. I will agree with everyone you cramp for days after then you feel bloated and blah. I'm going on 11 days now. I have had light bleeding since. And nice warm baths with epsom salt seems to help relax my muscles. My obgyn said mines good for 8 years I just hope that I'm part of the 40% of women who will no longer have a period.
God, I just got this procedure done today, and it feels like fucking labor pain
This deserves more views you did a fantastic job breaking this down. Thank you
Glad it was helpful! Tell your friends lol
Thnaks god
I know man I was so scared 😂
Same dawg
Lesgo I don't have to pay child support while doing it every day
I gained a lot of weight with Mirena. As soon as I took it out, it's like the pounds started melting away. I didn't even realize that's what it was until years later when I connected the dots.
