Budget long range target shooting rifle for beginners for less than $700!!!

A very good entry level budget rifle for long range target shooting. Ruger American Predator in 6.5 creedmoor with Vortex Crossfire II scope shoots less than 1 MOA at 300 yards.
Streamlight TLR-6 for the Sig Sauer P365

Quick review of the TLR-6 for the Sig Sauer P365. I don't recommend this light laser combo due to reliability issues. IF you try this for your firearm, I recommend ensuring you can return it. I got mine on Amazon and returning it was easy.
Finally found a Taurus TX22 magazine speedloader that works well!
zhlédnutí 14KPřed rokem
Here is a good magazine speed loader for the Taurus TX22 that not only loads extremely fast but also maintains the correct cartidge orientation in the magazine since it loads while the follower is holding pressure on the rounds as loading is underway. Also works with the Ruger 10/22 and AR15 CMMG .22 conversion magazines. The McFadden Lightning Grip speedloader works GREAT - check it out! Highl...
Taurus TX22 Jamming? Here's a solution!
zhlédnutí 19KPřed rokem
Finally a quick solution that works to solve Taurus TX22 problems with jamming. Polish the lower frame 'lugs' where it engages the upper slide. This cheap and easy fix solved failure to eject / stovepipe problems and reduced the failure to feed issues. Gun component polishing, magazine waxing (lubricating). Do not overlubricate the slide it will just get messy. Link to speedloader! czcams.com/v...
Great video, thanks for the info!
What do you do when your little sister is changing the oil in your car my little buddy?😆
Out of all the accessories I’ve bought for my guns. This speed loader is WORTH THE MONEY. Going to buy another one just in case the government out laws them !
My gun shop sent my back to the Taurus for send time they almost replaced all the parts no charge works like a charm😀
Complicated AF. What a mess.
Thanks for your time and knowledge, best TX Comp vid on the web!
Thank you for this video. I am experiencing jam, failure to extract and failure to feed initially with many different brands and types of commercial quality ammo right out of the box, brand new for my TX22. I polished the barrel ramp and remedied the feed complication. I replace the extractor with the Tandem Kross Eagle Talon unit and spring with no change for failure of extraction. I watched your video and used my flat, machinist diamond stone, with dycome to see how bad these frame to slide pads are. Needless to say, they match the majority of my experiences with Taurus lacking any quality for all machine work procedures, and had high spots on all the pads. Slide fit was fine already, so I did not remove any material other than the percentage of high spots, then finish with Flitz paste and a wool drum for my Dremel. Previously when I installed my Tandem Kross Victory trigger, had polished all internal moving or contact components to remove all the burrs and sharp edges ignored by Taurus. Extraction issue is still present, so I thought of only one reason and component remaining for this problem, mainly brought on by my need to use a small brass rod to push the spent round case from chamber after firing. The barrel chamber. I measured the inside diameter to discover it is .226"-.2265" as the spent case measures .228". For further proof, measured my friends TX22 Lakeling LLC aftermarket barrel to find his chamber inside diameter is .228". I will receive my Lakeline LLC barrel today for remedy of this out of the box ongoing problem. My recent purchase of the Taurus G3C 9mm pistol is another disastrous story that I have now resolved over 2 months of modifying and replacing, internal components, now a Flawless, Dependable, Enjoyable EDC pistol. I have installed 3 other Tandem Kross Victory triggers in these TX22 pistols for others and find large amounts of variances in internal measurements and materials.Taurus customer service was of no benefit or seem trustworthy for me after reading all of the recent purchased pistols massive failures. Nice ergonomics and a fair price initially, but effected by all the repairs made for proper function.
I just one one In today 4/17/24. Wow it works perfectly on my TX22 loads fast and easy. Also used it on my after market 10/22 Ruger magazines worked perfectly. Now I don’t have to load constantly while my kids fire and unload. And I never get to shoot. I love them little guys but dad wants to shoot aswell 😂
Where did you purchase it ?
How has yours held up? I use mine a lot for various models with available adapters and they never last long. I keep them clean and lubricated, but the plastic always cracks around the fasteners. I love the design, but the materials are too brittle and have to replace them every year.
Wow..... i'm really happy I ordered one.... not. Well my enthousiasm has died 100%. Thanks.😢....
I've seen many 22's with a gap between the slide and frame. It depends on how the slide rides on the frame. CZ has internal "rails?" so you can't see through it, but for instance the Glock 44 has the same gap. You can see parts moving in there. If I remember correctly the FN 502 has that too. But I guess, when you see it you can't unsee....I have the same OCD 😅
where can I find the red dot cover for the holosun?
Amazon.
An incredibly valuable video for a TX owner. Thank you.
Great gun! Mine has no problem but only use good ammo at least 40 grain. But will do some of this anyway.
Thanks for the detailed review and sharing your experiences with the TX22 competition.. We picked up one of the signature models a few months back. At first it had all the FTF and or bolt over brass bent bullets. etc. After a little tinkering. buffing, etc. etc.. and testing ammo. Its running at over 99% across 6 mags. There are days where I fire 400+ rounds without a single issue. I found she like to eat Aguila 40G round nose HV for whatever reason, thats what she like to eat. Currently at over 9000 rounds. and love the gun. Not gona lie. the first thousand rounds were rough. But now that shes running right and I love this TX22!! Again. thanks for the input and advise. Was very helpful to me as I was trying to figure her out. Im considering adding a second tx22 compact to the mix. God Bless.
They should make a better quality product and charge more.
Thank you for the info Professor Fly. You are correct, the price point is too high for a project gun (based on your detailed description). I tuned up a used Kel-Tec PMR-30 for less money and effort. I am looking for a good .22LR pistol for training and helping family members new to guns. The cheap side of me keeps looking at this gun, but my gut tells me to save your money and buy one of the guns you mentioned. I grew up shooting a Mark II, and my Dad, brother and I shot the crap out of it; we eventually replaced a bunch of major components (with original parts), buffed it out and re-blue it. The gun was not in his safe after he passed, so someone out there has a great little gun. Nothing you buy today will last as long as things of yesteryear, you learn the rules and play their game to win.
Failure to feed issues come may come from the bullet not stacking correctly because of the magazine.
How’d you fix the failure to feed issues?
Thank you- This is of great help. Mt Tarus TX-22 is fairly good. I have a friend who has had nothing but problems. Sent to Tarus, & Tarus sent a new barrel. Still problems. We are going to do as you did & follow a few other videos that really dove into the magazine problem. Take care, God bless.
Good find. Genuinely helpful stuff.
Bought mine yrs ago. First got the adapters for the Rem 597 & S&W M&P 22 Compact. Would easily burn through 400 - 500 rds. Then acquired the TX22. The McFadden loader is worth every penny @ $25 and the adapters @ $7 each ....
Yessssssss thank you sir for this huge help!!!
Looks like something from Rube Goldberg. 😂. But it does seem to work, but it would create quite a distraction at the indoor range.
In the time it takes you to set that thing up I could have loaded my mags.
Why would you need a speed loader for 22LR?
My TX22 only jams when I use CCI ammo. If I use anything else my TX22 runs all day long without issue.
I see no reason for polishing the top of the lugs that hold the barrel because the barrel does not move during firing. It should make it easier to attach slide and take it off.
Grooves under those lugs is where the slide runs and that is hard to polish. Polishing the outside of those lugs though, should help make the slide run better.
Maybe a crazy idea, take a long pipe cleaner, put it in a hand drill, coat it with polishing compound and hold and run it in the grooves of the slide and lugs.
YES !!
Question, how did you get your Holosun to mount? I had to Dremal down one of the adapters to make it work. I think the mold Holosun uses is off slightly. If you found an adapter can you post a link and the auto loader?
The adapters can be flipped upside down and spun 360° to fit what you need my eps fit perfectly
Nice, got to have one. Ed a link to buy one.
Thank you for making this video, I was just about ready to trash my tx 22 competition. Polished up the 6 tabs and presto the issues went away. I tested today 500 round torture test. Had there been a ftf the gun was going away. All 500 rounds fired within 30 minutes. Barrel got a little warm with no other issues. Thanks again.
Could you possibly add a shim small washer in the trigger to stiff it up? Also thanks for the updates nice to know they make a better pew pew then they used to makes me consider this model
What did you think of the trigger? I just purchased the TX22 Comp. and the trigger pull is stiff and feels gritty.
No luck polishing the parts you indicated. They are smooth as silk now, but still having FTFs (lot of them). My TX22 is been demoted to a dry fire tool only. I will not waste any more time or money on Taurus products in the future.
Try cleaning the inside of your magazines. Sometimes that solves the jamming problem with these tx22s. Use CLP and wipe the inside of the magazine with the magazine spring removed and then dry the inside of the magazine as best as you can. Hope this helps.
Thanks for all the information on the TX22 comp. Two of my three mags were getting consistent bent brass fail to feeds, the other mag ran 100% no issues. Taurus sent me a free mag that seems to be working great. I agree the gun is very fun when working right. Aguila super extra has been great for me
had the same thing on all of my mags unfortunately. Ordered some new ones (with different casing numbers) so hopefully it'll help. Ever figure out your issue?
Might be the Aguila, not sure. Those two mags are still running perfect. I need to send the bad two mags back still@@itsschiegg
@@itsschiegg 3 mags all FTF bent shells, just ordered TANDEMKROSS extended mags with stronger springs, makes me angry, to say the least, I sent it back to Taurus, and they say I'm shooting cheap ammo
OK, are you Nelson wearing black mask like the Lone Ranger! I know you are in some sort of Costume or maybe you are an employee for Taurus? It sure sounds like you are working for them! Well, if you are legit, you have me beat by several thousand rounds in my Two P17's. I have over 1000 rounds in each, with No Failures at all But Both my Guns cost me less than one TX-22! I was thinking at one time that I would buy another Taurus But after returning 3 of them in one year, I decided Never to Buy another one ever again!
L lo no just by p on nm .
Well that’s not true strike industries had good sights for 30 bucks 10:00
There are options. Would be nice to just have factory sights that hold elevation tho.
Since I have to pull the trigger to disassemble. Can I put a dummy plastic round to not dry fire it? Will it affect the disassembly process?
You can. But this rimfire you can dry fire it without issues per Taurus. I have now over 24,000 rds and have also dry fired many times without dummy rds. No issues.
if the barrel is locked what difference does it make that the slide is gapped? Also you are shooting an optic so what difference does it make that you dont like the stock sights? I have to admit I admire your ability to remember how things were in the beginning on a particular gun and how they are now. I cant tell you anything from one gun to the next as to before and after.
All true....just all the things I noticed if it helps others with their preferences. I'm a pilot and engineer by degree so I do have OCD tendencies!
I figured you were OCD.
Guilty as charged
Mine jams so bad that I hate shooting it. Sent it back to Taurus and they said that it's fine! lol I might try your idea. Thanks!
You may also try using hi velocity rds, and store it with the slide locked back for a while. If the mags are feeding and not hanging up, many times I'm hearing from other owners that a 500-1000 rd break in period helps. I think polishing in essence helps get thru that period and friction is reduced and it starts functioning better.
@@fly4fun463 Well, you're absolutely right. It took around 800 rounds for my gun to break in. Now it is literally flawless. After that magical break in period there has not been a single failure and I've competed with it every single weekend. It's gone from a gun that I hated to a gun that I love to shoot. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a competition 22. I'm running Federal blue box 36g.
That’s simply stupid. 😂😂
If it's stupid but it works, it's not stupid. ;) I don't have one of these yet, but I do have their older mag loader for my Ruger Mk II that makes loading mags for it a cakewalk. Been looking at the TX22 as an option for a striker fired pistol and knowing McFadden has a loader for it is a big plus.
Well now this is an interesting video and you have got to like that Taurus TX 22 competition. I have owned the TX22 competition since they first come out and it was very hard to find at first, but then I finally did find one. I have probably fired somewhere around 10,000 rounds through mine with no problems. As much as I like the Taurus tx22 competition, it is my second choice cuz my most favorite 22LR pistol is the sig Sauer p322. Even though the taurus tx22 competition feels good in my hands, these the sig Sauer p322 feels a little better. Also, there are some bulk 22 ammo that the Taurus tx22 doesn't really care for. Not very many. In fact, I think the Remington Golden boy bulk ammo is the only one that I have trouble with. Not all the time but just enough. That's a little irritating because I don't shoot anything but cheap Walmart ammo through mine and the Remington Golden boys are readily available. My sig Sauer p322 Will shoot them all day long with no problem. In fact, I haven't found any bulk ammo that it won't shoot.
Cool. P322 is a nice piece. All have tendencies or their own personalities. I have now a lot more rounds shot, and have settled on ccisv since it's more consistent and more accurate. Few cents more per rd.......
Question for you? With the extended magazine I thought I heard you say there was no spring. How does that work? I really like your video on the TX22.
Extended mags come with longer springs so don't worry. The tandemkross wingman 5 Rd extender is just right for me without sticking out of the grip too far. Seemed to be cheapest on shop Taurus. I found 21 rds to also be just right. But some love the Galloway 25 Rd but to me it's much more expensive.
@@fly4fun463Thank you! You got my TX22 running good. Polished the same parts you did, replaced the extractor, and guide rod. It runs great 👍
@@DELTA_77805glad it worked out for you. Each of these has different issues sometimes so keep looking for the little things centric to yours. I have over 24,000 rds thru mine now and it's not the perfect high end quality like volquartsen but it shoots reliablynow and is a heck of a lot of fun.
I just purchased a dremel and polishing compound. Thanks!
Folks on the Taurus facebooks seem to also find it beneficial. Combo of polishing and lubing the magazines seem to help others as well.
It’s a LOT faster to load out the conventional was without that useless speed loader. Lmao
Thank you for replying! And, I agree...no one understands that concept better than I do. I've been a consumer for over 60 years. In this case I got a $550 lemon. I even sent it back to Taurus, and it is still not acceptable enough for me to even sell it and dump it off on someone else. My conscience won't allow it. In my over 50 years of careful buying and selling guns (including most .22 handgun models), this particular purchase was the only one where there was no satisfying solution...except to eat $550 and take the hit.
Excellent review. I’ve been looking for a 22LR pistol and it’s between the Competition SCR version and the Ruger Mark IV 22/45 Lite.
If you don't mind 10 Rd clips the Ruger is one of the industry benchmarks, without the poor quality control of Taurus. I have a old Ruger mkI that shoots better and is rock solid. Taurus is like a box of chocolates....never know what you'll get. People in the Taurus circles are still getting bad barrels from the factory. I was lucky and got a great barrel and was also able to sort out the other issues. Mow over 20k rds and am having fun but it was a headache getting it to where it is now.
