Andrew's plowed!
Buddy thought he was gonna get the best interview in the world lol and he did lol
James Spader and Andrew McCarthy both went to boarding school! I think they were playing themselves only Spader was not a jerk in real life, and Andrew seemed to be very shy.
Smoking will age you more than anything 😢
Isn't that interviewer the lead singer of The Tubes?
Woah.
Oh my gosh how I long to be back in the 80s...
This is getting uncomfortable for Andrew McCarthy. 1:52
I’ve got something for you man. Oh yes absolutely 1:06.
Look, how does she these people look do she very much weird 0:39.
Steph acts just like Steph!
That interviewer is the singer from the tubes !
Siousie and the Banshees in the background completes this images of utter perfection
Andrew smoking is the coolest 😂😂
Who else is here after reading the first chapter of Brat: An 80’s Story?
Ooh I haven’t read it! How is it? Is this interview mentioned?
@@Parlezkate Yes! And after I read that I had to see it for myself lol. He says he was trashed lol.
Me for sure lol
Love how Siouxsie and the Banshees' Cities in Dust is playing in the background! Can't imagine how much fun those 2 actors were having right smack dab in the middle of the 80s promoting a movie in which they portrayed teenagers and were actually their mid 20s!
I LOVE how James is thoroughly enjoying watching his drunk friend!
Two hottest guys 💖💗🧡💛💚💚💚
Love this interview they are them self . Best movie love Andrew
Fee Waybill was/is? the lead singer for The Tubes.
James is supposedly a nightmare in real life.
Supposedly?
The interview to smoking is too bad. Insanely
James is the most beautiful man i have ever come across. I love his sweet smile, voice and beahvior
Tom Felton from Harry Potter reminds me of James they look some what a like.
James said.. If not liquor (lick her) then kiss her 😄😄😍. It went unnoticed
👍👍🤷♀️🤷♀️
The look Andrew gave that guy at the end... 🤣
Came here to see this clip as I just started reading Andrew’s new book “Brat: An 80’s story” where he writes about this interview in the first chapter (with a photo still included). According to the book, right before this interview (which took place at a club called The Palace), Andrew was at Hamburger Hamlet where he hid at the bar drinking “more than a few straight vodkas on the rocks” throughout the premiere of Pretty in Pink which was held across the street at Mann’s Chinese Theatre. This interview was at the after party. He writes, “I swayed back and forth, drunk and anxious, blowing cigarette smoke and trying not to appear frozen by the few benign questions that were lobbied my way. In a career of bad interviews, this one was particularly inept. It didn’t matter. The movie was about to become a hit-and success would land hard upon me.”
Wow thank you for this very cool comment! I’m amazed that he mentioned this interview.
It’s funny now thinking he had no prom date in HS. True or false I can see how we all are portrayed so different in real life as a teenager. They became so famous andrew could have had a big wart on his nose lol and women threw themselves at them. My sister was in love with Andrew McCarthy. Of course I fell for the bad guy. James Spader. His character was secretly in love with Molly Ringwald’s. And that’s really how HS was. She was considered poor and plain. Back in the 80s rich and poor kids were thrown together. I never had a car in school. I would drive my sisters beat up truck to school sometimes lol she graduated two years ahead of me and had a yellow rusted chevy with a rusted passenger floor that had a hole to throw out beer cans. 🤦♀️and it would backfire when shifting gears. I didn’t care. I parked where the cool kids parked. Beats the bus! 😂
Anyone else here wondering how Andrew even made it to the party after '90mins of downing straight vodka on the rocks' .... ?
Yep. I just read that & looked this up
Completely wasted.
I know a few pretty damn famous people personally and they suck in interviews. Always trying to say the right thing or be witty or making sure they don't step out of line. It's pitiful. These guys are just being themselves and not gaf :)
Actually, apparently this isn't an interviewer at all. He's a musician from The Tubes (She's A Beauty). That makes more sense.
Maybe the worst interviewer I have ever seen. I am guessing he had a different job by Monday whoever he was
Just seen Andrew McCarthy on Adam Carolla show talking about this.
About this particular interview? Do you have a link? I’d love to hear what he thinks of it now.
Top notch cast.
Wow I was 16 then and Andrew McCarthy was 24 then he was definitely my heart throb didnt know he smoked then
wow, before interviewees can smoke while being interviewed hahaha so cool PS. i don't smoke
What a wild 80s It's almost 40 years ago
For the kids, Fee Waybill was the leader singer for The Tubes. Great band back then! I was in boarding school in 1982 when I first heard the Tubes. We were on a bus trip back from Knoxville TN and the World's Fair. Someone on the bus had a boom box and they blasted the song I'll Talk to you later by the Tubes. I remember listening to it and really loved the sound, it was so different than anything I grew up with prior. That solo at 2:40 was killer. Special moment for me. czcams.com/video/H-rEVVAw3-0/video.html
Recorded before many schoolschootings and before many killings.
Andrew McCarthy couldn't get a date??? Someone build me a time machine, I'll be his date.
You can’t say liquor in MTV? 😂😂😂
This guy could get them girls 🙄
You can tell McCarthy is so East Coast and doesn't like interviews. He was always a bit put out by them. His face and tone always gave this away.
SO weird to watch this in 2020 - I forgot that smoking used to be “cool”
When people used to smoke to mellow from all the alcohol. 😂
Plot twist...This was actually Reddington's first infiltration into Hollywood's criminal ring. He was falsely befriending Andrew to see what he could possibly exploit from him later on, but he had to become an actor in the process.
Drunk much 😂
Sad nobody knows who Fee Waybill is.
True, but this wasn't exactly a resumé moment for him.
@@daviddaskalnojokeradio Hahahahaha point taken
The interviewer sure likes to hear himself talk.
Neil M,,, The interviewer was the lead singer of the band “The Tubes”, not your everyday MTV host. See “Talk To Ya Later”, The Tubes. Great song, definitely 80’s.
The Tubes lead singer! LOL
They are wasted.
James Spader always played "the asshole" really good! He was great in Less Than Zero. One of my favorite movies!
@Barrier Boy Yeah, he did play the "poor little bitch" in the end to a T. LOL.👍🏼
Spader was great in Boston Legal
