Restoring metal trim with Ceramic?

    A random question matey. Firstly I hope you’re well! I fear a customer has had his proverbial knickers pulled down. He says he’s had his vehicle machine polished and coated in April (I beg to differ after giving it a maintenance wash, no protection present) and also he had his roof deep cleaned and re-proofed at the same time. I only ever use Fabsil Gold, because it’s good! Again in regards to my maintenance wash I saw no hydrophobicity on the roof of any kind, to your knowledge are there any roof sealants that you know of that wouldn’t bead like fabsil ? I won’t name the “Detailer” that charged him nearly a grand for this service but he told the customer that he “didn’t like hydrophobic products” in my mere 8 years experience I’m not sure I’ve heard of a non hydrophobic coating nor roof sealant. Please tell me I’m not going crazy. Thank you again for another great video. Keep up the good work darling. Paul.

      @SuperchargedLlama Před 7 hodinami

      Hmmmm, that sounds like your suspicion is right, but obviously I can't say for sure. The Renovo waterproofer isn't as hydrophobic as Fabsil for sure, and I use Fabsil predominantly because most people don't buy the kit that's used here (this was owner supplied). I use Fabsil for the same reason as you, it beads, it works well and it's not hay expensive either. With regards other ceramic coating...that sounds most dubious. There are some that just sheet more than bead, but it's not even been 4 months yet since the install, which makes me think the previous person just used a sealant with "ceramic" in it 😔 - was there any water behaviour?

    • @paulclark22
      @paulclark22 Před 5 hodinami

      @@SuperchargedLlama thank you for your swift reply sweet cheeks. No water behaviour at all, I didn’t expect much until maybe the contact wash rinse but there was none. I’m stunned. But because the customer took it to a very reputable detailer within our area he can do no wrong. I’ve seen Koch PW give more water behaviour after four months than the so called coating applied to this vehicle. It makes me angry that people are charging a grand for not even a full Valet and getting away with it. Even the roof after a deep clean and re-proof four months prior was in a sad state. Thank you again darling. Much love

      @SuperchargedLlama Před 5 hodinami

      @paulclark22 that is appalling isn't it. I've had something similar in the past, where they'd had it polished and the previous detailer has just left bugger trails all over it. Charged them a bit too dissimilar amount to what you're saying and was done in half a day or something (they were baulking at my quote of 1.5-2 days even before seeing the state of it).

    That was a blooming good watch, i proper enjoyed that, Adrian. I saw your video on PS a while ago and have used it ever since in every interior surface, amazing stuff. I so have a couple of dressings but not really found the sweet spot yet. GT is a nice finish, but get water anywhere near it and it doesnt loom good, Mile Deep is too glossy for me and i have Autobrite but, that too is not what i want, again, a little too much sheen. Could you recommend a good matt one? I'm more interested in the UV than looks. What's the infinity wax priduct like? All the best.

      Glad you enjoyed it dude, and that you're also finding Pol Star to be as good as I am. I have got the same issue as you with regards to dressings. I love the look of Dash Serum, but having it on the doors is a real mare isn't it, as it gets wet and goes streaky, same as the footwells. It's superb on the dash itself though. The Infinity Wax interior QD is pretty good, definitely a bit shinier than satin, but it seems to work well and you're cleaning and dressing all in one, which is a useful trait. You've got me thinking though, I wonder if Plastic Coat from Infinity Wax, their long lasting bumper and trim treatment, would work well on the interior....I shall have to try. Will make a video of course.

      @@decker0373 I reckon it's solvent based. Let me do a side by side on the van as it's got the shiniest plastics known to man, proper old school hard ones. It'll be a great test, I'll 50/50 the door with GT for a really tough comparison. I reckon the Plastic Coat is solvent based as it's ceramic infused (I believe). Great informative video, quick question mate. My old Nilfisk E145 has given up the ghost, it's been used hard for the last 7 years but it's now slowly showing signs of problems to come, so I'm torn between the AVA P60 Easy (£319.00) OR the Nilfisk C160 ( £319) OR Nilfisk E150 Xtra ( £299.0). I'm leaning towards the AVA P60 Easy but the lack of online storage when the washer is folded up is a bit of a let down. Main usage would be patio / decking cleaning. I did actually purchase the AVA P60 MASTER but after having it delivered I found that it's massively too heavy so it was returned.

    • @SuperchargedLlama
      @SuperchargedLlama Před 13 dny

      You've got some great options there dude. I've got the Ava P57 Easy as well as I use that when washing my cars at home. Of the option's you've listed I would go with the Nilfisk E150 Xtra because that's got an induction motor, like you're old E145 - that's the reason it's lasted so long. The universal motors in the C line Nilfisks and the Ava GO and Easy models are good, but they won't last as long as that Nilfisk will.

    • @jactac879
      @jactac879 Před 12 dny

      @@SuperchargedLlama Have you tested the AVA Easy P60 ? it's replacing the P57. The 10 year warranty on the AVA is also tempting as I dont mind doing the 5 year service myself to gain another 5 years as I enjoy stripping things down and getting my hands dirty.. The motor on my old E145 is still running, the issues its showing is the lance has developed a leak at the midway joint, I tried new O rings but it still leaked so I think the actual lance needs replacing, and its also started to pulse a lot and cut out, I have to switch it off , pull out the hose and reconnect everything for it to re-start, all signs that it needs a new start-stop valve, which after taking a peep inside is a bit of a faff to replace as Nilfisk used a different motor on the E140.2, the other washers in the E140 range are a doddle to strip . I could replace these bits but after over 7 years of service other bits might start to play up and I'll just be throwing money at it ! Thing is as well, I have MS so these days I need something that I can manage weight wise, the old E140 is a bit of an heavy piece of kit, and looking at specs the new E150 it's a bit heavier, where as the AVA P60 Easy is a light weight but with decent punch, in fact it has better flow rate than the E150. I've been online reading reviews and watching videos for 3 days solid trying to make a decision 😵‍💫. My biggest gripe on the P60 Easy is the lack of on board storage when its folded up, theres basically no storage for the nozzles & bottle, and the lance sticks up vertical , so even though the handle folds away, the lance sticks up in the air so the foldaway handle is pointless because all of the storage is built into the handle which cant fold away with the nozzles & bottle attached, I cant understand how the AVA designers missed that one ?

    • @jactac879
      @jactac879 Před 9 dny

      So, bit of an update. I opted for the AVA P60 Easy. It arrived today, easy to set up, nothing to screw together just clip some of the bits together. First thoughts though not great . Pros : looks good, light enough to carry, heavy enough not to topple over, easy to operate. Cons: Without doubt not as powerful as my old Nilfisk E140 even though the spec is slightly higher on the AVA, the vario nozzle wont touch dirty pavers you have to use the turbo nozzle , my old Nilfisk would clean the patio with ease using the vario & turbo nozzle. As mentioned previously poor storage when folded away. The turbo nozzle actually broke within 20 minutes refusing to spin, I tried stripping it apart and cleaning but no joy, so contacted the retailer for a replacement. I might even send the whole unit back if it fails to impress over the next few days, so far I'm really not impressed at all. Early days but I think the AVA's are built to look fancy but behind the razzmatazz of fancy styling combined with the snazzy bright colours & extending lances they'er a bit of a let down in performance and a build quality . The AVA Easy P60 reminds me of my neighbours son's Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 that he's tarted up with a colourful paint job, wide wheels and a noisy exhaust, it actually looks nice, but under all the tarty stuff its still a 1.2 Vauxhall Corsa !!!!!

      @@jactac879 That's an odd one about the turbo nozzle, I can only imagine it's got something stuck inside that's preventing the ball from spinning round or something like that? I've absolutely abused mine and had no issues at all (when I say abused, I mean completely submerged in mud and bashing it against the bottom of the drainage channel). That aside, I think all your other points are absolutely valid and I'm not surprised. Your previous Nilfisk was definitely built to a higher standard than the Ava for sure (and perhaps any Ava). I do think the biggest faux pas with the Easy is that, when folded, there's no storage for anything - I can understand the lance not being stowable, but the nozzles and stuff?! Niflisk's solution is, think, more elegant in its simplicity. But the hose is shorter, their trigger gun is much bigger and you really need a stubby one to replace it (increasing the cost again) and the foam lance that's bundled is crap.....but the actual pressure washer is much better.

    • @jactac879
      @jactac879 Před 8 dny

      @@SuperchargedLlama , yeah I agree about the Nilfisk foam lance it is very poor, thing is with these pressure washers the end user has to look for something that is going to fit their needs. For me it's more about DIY tasks such as patio/decking cleaning, yes I might use the foam lance now and then but if I'm honest it would be thrown in the back of the shed and forgotten about probably. Cleanstore are sending a new nozzle which I'll try but I think the whole thing will probably go back over the next few days. I am wondering though is the lack of power on the AVA due to it having a universal motor and my old Nilfisk having the induction motor, even though the AVA had a slightly higher spec at 145 bar /500 low rate, and the Nilfisk 140 bar 432 flow rate, both are around 2.1watt, in fact the AVA is 2.2 watt and the Nilfisk is 2.0 watt. The kick on the lance when the Nilfisk was started was clearly obvious, but the AVA is hardly noticeable. The more I'm adding here the more I'm thinking of just packing it back up tonight 🤔

    Do you like Koch VB better than Super Foam? I know VB is supposed to be used at 3% and Super Foam at 2% PIR , but if both were at 1% which is more effective? Still trying to figure out my favorite pre-spray that I wanna use in my detailing business. Most vehicles don't need full strength, so I was curious about your thoughts. Also have you used BH Touch-Less V2 at .05% PIR ? Was wondering how BH stacked up against the 2 products above at the .05% PIR compared to the other two products at 1% PIR. Thanks and love the channel 🏆

    • @SuperchargedLlama
      @SuperchargedLlama Před 13 dny

      This is a really good question. I'd say Vb is really different to SF, it's more like Garage Therapy Decon as they are both caustic (mildly) where as SF isn't. Vb is an incredibly heavy strength detergent, not quite a TFR though. It's a cracking pre-wash and shampoo, really versatile, you can use it as APC as well. SF is definitely a better snow foam, but this is so flexible all round. I've got a video comparing all three. I haven't yet used the new Touch-Less but I have it in my basket for my ever expanding next order. I went with GT Snow V2 last time and I've found that to be absolutely brilliant!

      @@SuperchargedLlama I so much appreciate the nice long explanation! Your channel is becoming one of my favorites and I hope u keep cranking out the videos 🤞.. I'm curious tho, when you say SF is a better snow foam, is that because it foams better and you get that nice thick foam? I think I'm gonna try the Koch VB ( multi-star in USA). I'm hoping that it can become my main pre-spray for 95% of my customers vehicles at 1% PIR in the detail keg. It's $60 for 5 liters here and at 1% PIR , that will last me awhile and I'll for sure get my money's worth! I did watch all of your videos comparing all the pre-foams and it was absolutely fantastic! Heck I've probably watched them 5 times each 😂. I really enjoyed your video series on those pre-foam comparisons.

    What’s difference between green star and pol star as I was going to get gs for all the interior ie leather seats,steering wheel dash board etc etc,do I need to use pol star at 1/10 to do leather seats,thanks in advance

    • @SuperchargedLlama
      @SuperchargedLlama Před 16 dny

      Pol Star is a different blend of surfactants which, I believe, leave a little bit of protection behind. From my experience it is a phenomenal leather and alcantara cleaner, but I use it on every surface inside a car. It foams up well, which is a useful trait for leather cleaning as it can dwell without wetting out the leather - particularly useful for perforated stuff. I use Pol Star at 1:20 for the vast majority of the time btw, it's incredibly capable. GS isn't really leather safe, but it's good on fabric as it's lower foaming than others, which if you're doing a wet vac extraction is a real bonus as it doesn't fill the tank with foam, triggering the float valve and making you empty the tank sooner.

    • @SuperchargedLlama
      @SuperchargedLlama Před 18 dny

      I don't think the findings are relevant if you're not using it for pre-wash with strong alkaline or acidic foams. Drying out doesn't really impact a shampoo's ability to do it's job as it reactivates with water; with a pre-wash it can stop the chemicals from doing anything (at best) or cause chemical staining (at worse).
