I liked the waiting before you lifted on the first take, it was well done. It's important to wait so they have time to turn before you lift so they get hookes in the scissors and it seems like very few salmonanglers know this or are able to do it but you did so good job:)
Thank you… it is a very difficult “wait”, but you are 100% right, hook was exactly where you’d expect. Right in the scissors! Thanks for watching and your kind comment! 👌🎣
Is it possible to fish them also with spinning rod or baitcaster? Or is there a restriction to flyrods only? Will be in Ireland and I only got flyrod for smaller fish.
The majority of the rivers in this clip can be fished with a spinning rod… it can be very productive! It will however vary from river to river and one club to another. Best to double check when getting your tickets! Big fish on a small fly rod can be great fun though! Best of luck. 👍🎣🇮🇪
It’s just the way I was taught buddy. The theory is to give the fish no resistance at all to begin with.. let him turn while taking the loop and a few zips off your reel before trying to fully set the hook. There is no correct method though! Just theories! This one one works for me (occasionally) 👍🎣
@@darrenbaird989 North West buddy. Several rivers in this video… mainly the river Finn and Mourne. But a few others around the North west of Ireland! Great fun!
Thank you very much… That’s much appreciated. I’m glad you enjoyed watching… I’m already counting down the days until next season… it’s gonna be a long winter 🎣👌
Great throw for the shrimp

There is some sound out of the Classic reels alright…thanks for watching bud and tight lines for 2024 👍🎣
Nice one Stevie, some great takes 👌🎣😊👍

Great video stevie, tight lines for new year!
Thanks Cian bud. Didn’t get out as much as I would’ve liked this year! But plenty of time to put that right in 2024. 🤞🎣
What stretch of the Finn was the pool, great fishing, what was the tackle set up and fly pattern, leader and tippet....nice fresh spring fish....👍🙂
Very nice hopefully more hookups this year🎣🐋 where was the lough fishing at
Fingers crossed Martin. Lough was lough Beagh Co Donegal. Absolutely spectacular setting. And some hard fighting sea trout! 👍🎣
What's the line you are using? I see its a 13"2 from the title, I have a sx 13"2 just wondering on a matching line. Thanks
I’m using the Loop SDS multi tip system in an #8. It’s a phenomenal line and suits the 13,2 perfectly 👌🎣
@@steviemac2405 thanks very much pal
Really enjoyed that mate. I’m looking forward to my first ever season on the salmon starting soon. Out of interest which wading stick do you use?
Best of luck for the upcoming season Tomos. I’m using the simms foldable stick at the minute! It’s an essential piece of my kit.
Excellent Stevie...I see i had a cameo on the oars!😃🎣
Thank you Sean. That was one of my favourite days out this year! Look forward to another session in a few months! 🎣🤞
Definitely!!
Class video Stevie 👌
Thanks Sean… great fun. Can’t wait to get going again! 👍🎣
Deadly stevie! 🎣
Cheers Cian…the offer is still open for you buddy. We have to get a date pencilled in for this season 👍🎣
Nice one Stevie, hard to beat hearing the Classic sing 😄🎣👌.. and you seemed to hook quite a few on the strip back, which keeps you guessing 😄🎣
Classic FM lol Lost way too many fish last year Andrew! The video could’ve easily turned into a bloopers reel 🫣
class stevie boy😊
Cheers Eddie… can never seem to get them to upload in HD. But you can change the quality to 1080 at the top right!
Some cracking takes and runs there
You know, even when I blank, I have a good time fishing. Fun to catch fish, but not the end all and be all. Beauty salmon!!
Couldn’t agree more Rob. I call it River Therapy. A fish in the net is just an added bonus. 👍🎣
You should feel lucky! Great casting. Line and rod?
Thank you. The rod is the 14ft Loop 7X #9. The line is the Loop SDS shooting head System. 👌🎣
Lovely grilse, I’ve only fished the mourne twice on day tickets and dream of fishing the beats above the bridge, looks a lovely river
It’s a class river. So many nice pools. 👍🎣

Why do you always have slack line when the fish takes?
